  1. Well my ferritin level was high while my iron and saturation was low so my surgeon referred me to a hematologist. The hematologist said this is anemia of chronic disease, mentioned rheumatoid arthritis and did blood work and a chest CT today checking for blood clots and I believe lung cancer. Instead they saw a pocket of infection in my abdomen pressing on my diaphragm.
  2. I am about 2 1/2 months out now and just found out today I have a pocket of infection in my abdomen, probably from a small leak in the staple line. I haven't run a fever with exception of one day where I had 100.5. My biggest problem right now is referred shoulder pain from my diaphragm and coughing which is also from pressure on the diaphragm. Hoping for some serious relief after they drain it tomorrow and that there is not still a leak.

Sounds like you need to add some calories with your exercise! I am supposed to be eating 800-1000 and am lucky to get in 400 and I don't even have the energy to exercise

    Pyschology Clearance Issue

I'd say that is a small fee. I work for an insurance company and that seems in line with what I see. Have you called to see if your insurance will cover it?

@ 4 Months and Can Eat More

I am so looking forward to this time!! I have a terrible time with my nutrition - I don't get my protein and have no energy - I NEED to be able to get more than 400 calories in! My NUT wants me at 1000 calories.

Hey Mama!! My loss was 3.4 this week too - as you know from MFP! I have had ups and downs this week, some days feeling like it was a turning point and others not so much. Last night I had prime rib at Texas Roadhouse - YUM! I ate about 3 oz I believe and it was so tender and juicy - really hit the spot and probably the most I have eaten since my sleeve. So far today no ill side affects like bloating so hoping for the best!! Send prayers this is my turn around week!!
  7. I am 8 weeks out and I am lucky to be able to eat 1 1/2 ounces. It sucks because I can't do the protein drinks so trying to get my protein from food.

    Relieve gas build-up

I had bad gas a few weeks ago, after eating beans. I thought for sure it could not have made me have gas for 2 weeks but I asked my Nut and she said it could. I spent alot of time pressing on my tummy to move the gas around and try and push it out. I didn't have any luck with gasx either but found that mint in general settled my stomach and made me feel better. I keep lifesaver mints nearby. Also, how are you bowels moving?

nice loss this week for me 3.4, I'm pretty happy. I am able to get just a smidge more calories in and some more protein in - still very far from my goals but sure better than I was.

How long did you wait to drive?

My discharge papers said no driving while on pain meds so I drove the day after I came home - I only took tylenol after day 2 in the hospital.
  12. just tried to add you on MFP but it didn't find you - if you want add me - karibrenmom

  13. Oh guys I am struggling too!! And some of the protein amounts on the foods mentioned above and way more than I am seeing on the same items I have looked at!! I am lucky to get 2 ounces of solid food in at a time.
  14. We are having the same issue!! I will say one thing I could tolerate Protein in is hot chocolate - I get the diet swiss miss and use beneprotein. Now I am out of that and need to try it with one of the other unflavored protein's I have - the beneprotein mixed well if you can get that near you and I couldn't taste it in the hot chocolate. Also when I saw my nutritionist last week she told me I was imposing too many rules on myself - otherwise I was FOLLOWING THEIR RULES and not getting what I needed so I needed to BREAK THEIR RULES!! She told me it was ok to lick a spoon of Peanut Butter all day and still drink. She said if I needed to drink, do it. I have been doing better than I was. Today so far I have 20 protein in at breakfast! How exciting! 3 pieces of bacon and a carnation instant breakfast. I don't think the milk agreed though so we'll see if I can do that again. I can do greek yogurt but not everyday. I do the cheese sticks, mozzarella is the highest. Maybe you could nibble on a few of those? I know your doc says 3 meals, period. But we have to do what we need to during early stage so we don't get our bodies in trouble - we are still swollen and like you said just not able to take much in at a time.
  15. We are the same height AND the same surgery weight!! My goal for myself is 124 but we'll see, I was at 130 and very happy before!! We have to keep in touch!!

    First milestone!

    you are doing great!!
  20. My understanding is there isn't a failure so much as there is more visits required.
  21. I think most programs expect you to get to a point where you don't need the protein shakes. The pre-op diet is for a couple weeks at the most. I take b12 in a sublingual form, I think the shots would be if you get low. What were you told you can never have again? I have heard soda/carbonation and alcohol. I have seen lots of people on the boards who either incorporate these in to everyday life or special occasions.

    Denied AGAIN with BCBSIL

Did you send more info or your Dr? I have heard of people writing a letter detailing everything themselves, not just what was discussed but what you did yourself - the Dr can write "Patient followed Weight Watchers" but you writing a letter noting the fact that you went to meeting for 6 straight months and lost X weight as well as walking on a daily basis or whatever seems like it would go a long way.
  24. So glad to hear from you!! I am so glad I haven't craved my diet coke - I quit caffeine all together at least a month before surgery so I guess my cravings are gone
