@@carolina07 I too have the band and I am revising to sleeve tomorrow. But I am so paranoid if this is the right thing for me. I had so many issues with the band that it scares me to get the sleeve its permanent. Can you please give me details as far as what you felt and comparison? Thank you -
Do you have any pain? How about hunger? My surgery is one day away and I would like to know details please?

My doctor unfilled my band 3 months ago when I was having lots of issues with acid reflex. My tongue felt raw and I would get soar throat often it felt horrible. I started to eat after and gained 20 pounds very fast. I wanted to remove the band I was so tired of all the symptoms but the doctor insisted I get the sleeved he guaranteed that I would gain a lot of weight after the band removal. He said trust me I see patients everyday. It took me 3 months to decide on the sleeve I was scared to have all the symptoms that I had with the band and it is permanent. So here I am doing the sleeve but I am very nervous about it. I hate the liquid diet part and I don't know what to expect with the sleeve. Also this last week all of a sudden I had restriction I called the doctor and he said you are unfilled all the way. He said just wait you have a few more days left to get you out of your misery. So today and tomorrow liquid diet Thursday surgery. I wonder how much scar tissue I have... Also I rarely threw up with the band but when it was completely unfilled I drank while I ate. We will see what happens hopefully the good will happen. I see good and bad reviews on the sleeve. I only have 50 to 60 pounds to lose my thyroid is kind of slow I'm on 50 mg synthyroid. I will defined keep you posted.

Did you do xray with barium swallow at the doctors when you were getting checked on the band? The reason I ask is my doctor always does the X-ray checks tells me it looks fine there is no slippage. I wonder if I have a slip too. I am so lost don't know how the sleeve will differ from the band. My surgery is 1 day away.

Did you food cravings the first Few weeks when u did The sleeve or you had no appetite? Because with the band I still felt like eating right when I came Home from surgery.
-

My sleeve surgery is in 5 days and I am so nervous I can't sleep eat or anything I do my mind is only worrying about the operation. It gives me chills because I keep analyzing over and over again. I am so scared
-
Were you dehydrated the first few weeks? I am so nervous about the surgery. Everyday I'm hoping that I made the right decision to be sleeved.
-
Yes I have he did my lap band 4 years ago. He is very good and I am revising to sleeve next week.
-
That's exactly what happened to me at the beginning one year I was so afraid I ate by the book and yes I was still miserable and hungry at times even with all the adjustments I had but I was afraid to ruin my band so I would eat according so I wouldn't throw up. I almost never threw up. But once my doctor removed my liquid from my band I started to eat more and more everyday. Now I can't get back on track and my attitude changed towards the band I gave up on it. Oh the reason why my doctor removed the liquid is because I was having horrible dry mouth don't know if it's from reflex or what. I wanted to remove it all together and try on my own because I'm miserable and not happy all the time. I went thru so much and never lost a whole lot of weight just 30 ponds now I'm back to square one. My doctor insisted that I will gain more weight once I remove the band and that kind of scared me too. He wanted to do the sleeve but I am so tired to go thru the whole operation and liquids vitamins etc. and not see results plus I read that some people have problems and some don't at all. It's a surprise so I wouldn't know what I will feel later good or bad. The thing that worries me is that it's irreversible. Also I was going to let you know be careful of over eating with the band because you can get dilation of the esophagus. Don't know if that's my case now. They haven't checked mine it's that awful metallic dry mouth I have that bothers me so much I can't taste anything and this all happened after the band. If you have any questions you can feel free to ask me.

I totally agree with you! I hate my band to and I had it since 2011 it's caused so much problems. Now I am revising it to sleeve next week however I am so afraid that I will have the same issue and its permanent procedure.

I am having surgery on April 14th and I am so scared since this is permanent. I am having bitterness in my mouth, raw filling into mouth, constant sore throat sensitive teeth also dry mouth. Did anyone experience this with the band? I don't have actual acid reflex but I feel like my mouth is full of bile or something. I am so afraid to have this happen after the sleeve it bothers me so much. I can't eat or drink everything tastes sour. Since the sleeve is irreversible I am so afraid. Usually I am not like this after my lap and I became so fragile and worried because most of the time I am not feeling well. Can you please share your experience with me? Is the sleeve easier than the band? Does it feel Different? Do they have the same issue? Thanks I will really appreciate it I only have this forum to help me!

Thanks for your response I really appreciate it! Can you please keep me posted on how you feel after the endoscopy? I am so scared to have the surgery because it is irreversible and I Don't want to do the bypass.

It's been a year and a half since surgery and I had so many fills. I have only lost 30 pounds that's it.. I feel like every time I go to the doctor he really doesn't fill me correctly. Why am I not losing weight??? I eat small portions but I feel hungry all day long. I have no restrictions. I have a 8.5 fill in a 10cc realize band. If anyone has suggestions please let me know. I'm frustrated...
-
Thank you all for responding!!! I appreciate all the support I can get.

His fills are always with the x rays and he keeps telling me the good thing is your not gaining. I exercise and eat small portions on my own but I am hungry all the time. I can eat but I keep myself from over eating on my own. Should I tell him to fill me more? He only does .5cc's at a time.

Nope I'm not. All my life I counted calories lol My friend who was 250 now she's thinner then me she had the band 6 months after I did. I was 206 when I had the surgery. I exercise and eat healthy and nothing...
-
I have a similar situation . I started at a weight of 206 and only lost 30 pounds. I am frustrated. My friend started at 250 now she's thinner then me. But I did get my cortisol level checked and that was high. So check your cortisol level. But there is no magical pill for cortisol so I don't know what else I can do.

I was also banded October 5th and I got my first fill today. I was scared to death but it was nothing. I had nothing during the surgery. I lost 14 pounds in one month. The doctor tried to put in 5cc but it was tight so he left only 4cc inside. I will be getting another fill on December14th. Hope this fill helps I had lost 16 pounds but 2 pounds came right back. So now its 14 pounds. I got my appetite back this last week. Surgery Day I was 206 now I am 192 My goal weight is 140-150...

Hi, I was banded October 4th and I am scheduled for my first fill on November 9th. I am so scared... I don't know what it will feel like. I just started eating solid foods and I am hungry all day long. I feel like snacking all day but small portions. I am so tired of eating apple sauce, yogurt and soup. Can someone tell me what to expect for my first fill please? -
