I get the ready to drink shakes at GNC. If you prefer powder, check the label closely to make sure you get the right ones. The store will let you taste some of the products. Email me if you want to talk privately at vfraley@cs.com.

Hi, partner, I am also having surgery on the 20th with Dr. Weiss. I live in georgetown. I hsve been drinking shakes from GNC store. Total Lean shake they have 25 grams of protein, 6 carbs, 170 calories, 24 Vitamins & minerals, & is lactose free.. They will let you taste the different flavors. I like chocolate so I bought the swiss chocolate. They taste just like chocolate milk to me & since lactose free, I don't have any of the problems associated with milk products. I bought vitamins from Celebrate. One month supply cost me a little over $70. I started taking this weekend, but not sure if I need them yet, since the shakes have alot of the vitamins we need already in them. I'm going to call the office today to ask them. If you want, you can e-mail me direct at vfraley@cs.com & I'll give you my phone number so we can talk.

Frustrated that the Sleeve is "just another diet"
vf59 replied to YellowRose's topic in Rants & Raves
You need to concentrate on getting over the infection first. Then make sure you are taking in the correct amounts of protein, vitamins and water that you are supposed to each day. My dr suggested vitamins from Celebrate. They are designed especially for band, sleeve & bypass patients. If you do those things, you should get well, and start losing. -

From a size 22/24 to a 4/6, Band to Sleeve

Mine will be done in Lexington, KY. I live in Georgetown. I am still a little nervous about it. Worried I'll be one of the ones that doesn't loose much weight and everyone that didn't want me to have the surgery will say "I told you so" or I'll have problems. I've been large for the last 30 years. I'm a 52 year old grandmother and having a mid-life crisis. -

From a size 22/24 to a 4/6, Band to Sleeve

I was going to get banded because I work with people that got the rny and I saw the problems they had. I went to my first seminar and found out about the sleeve. I have surgery for vsg on oct. 20. I am glad I found out about vsg instead of getting the band. A lot of people are having to get tneir bands removed after a period of time. -
Hopefully surgery in January 2012

Since my bmi is 40, my dr does a 2 week preop diet. 2 meal replacements per day with one regular meal each day of baked or grilled meat & green leafy vegetables with oi % vinegar dressing. Keeing carbs low to shrink size of the liver before surgery. If your bmi is higher then liquid diet only for 2 weeks. The liver grows larger the more overweight you are & the surgeon needs it out of the way for surgery to prevent damaging it and causing excessive bleeding internally. -

I used myfitnesspal & lost 10 lbs. It is a great tool if you want to target a certain goal. I set mine to 1300 - 1500 calories & it tracks everything for you. -
I have my surgery scheduled for Oct. 20th. I'm getting nervous about doing this. Everybody says, if you can do all the liquid diet for pre & post op, why can't you just stay on that and not have the surgery? If it was that simple, then I would have done it a long time ago. I tell them that I would gain the weight again. I feel likeI need this tool to help me from gaining the weight back. Now I need to find out what brand of meal replacements are the best. Wish me luck everyone.

I used it for a couple weeks & lost 10 lbs during that time. Set what my target would be then enter my intake & it did the rest. -
My surgery isn't until Oct. 20 and I am nervous about it. I think I will take my before pics & measurements now to look at whenever I have second thoughts about going through with the surgery. Should be very motivating. 52 year old woman, 5' 6" 250 lbs.
