I just told my boss. Since I work alone it takes time to find coverage! I am so happy with her reaction - she was super supportive. I'm a very open person and I needed to get that over with! So glad I did

I'm an extremely open person! I love sharing my life with other people and for some reason - this is different for me. A few of my closest friends know - I will be telling my family shortly as well as my boss. Just didn't realize how scary it would be for me!

Can you drive home from your endoscopy? Or do you need someone to be there with you?

I made a list of a few questions that I don't want to forget to ask! I'm afraid I'll get overwhelmed and forget them!

My first surgeon consultation is tomorrow. What should I expect to happen at this appointment? I have a short list of questions I have come up with for him and expect that we will discuss them as well as the steps that I will need complete before surgery. Should I expect anything else?

Hi Ian! So glad you finally got a date! I have my first consultation with my doctor this Wednesday. I am going through Dr. Macaron in Middlebury. Keep us updated - I haven't met many CT people on here!

Please take the poll above. I am wondering what the normal wait time for surgery is. I have BCBS insurance and the requirments are minimal to get approved. I have scheduled my consultation for the 26th of this month! I can't wait to begin my new life! Any suggestions are appreciated! Stacey

Such an inspiration! You look amazing!

I have been reading a lot and making sure that this procedure is the right one for me. I also want to write down as many questions as I can come up with for my surgeon consultation next week. I am worried that there is very little documented after 3 to 5 years after surgery since this is so new. However, this is just part of what they do when they perform a duodenal switch and that procedure has been successful since the 70's. Right? Will I wake up one day and say "What have I done?!!!" Will I need that portion of my stomach at any point in my life? Is this going to cause issues later on? I understand that most moribly obese people die from something related to that so I might as well take a jump into a healthy life.....I am just worried. What convinced you that this was the right thing for you? What questions did you ask your surgeon that you think I might want to? Am I CRAZY?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

Not sure if you're still on here but I'm in Cheshire and hopefully having surgery in a few months. I'd love to speak to someone who has been there done that!

My consultation with Dr. Macaron is on the 26th. He Performs the surgery at St. Mary's hospital in Waterbury. I'm nervous and so excited!

Quitting sucks but just do it. You'll feel so much better in a few months! Just remember how much your going through to improve your health.....and then to smoke a cigarette? I quit last January. Good luck.
