Thank-you so much for sharing that. My last weigh-in is Novevmeber 1. I hope to be banded a month after that. I now share in your aha moment. I will look to my wants. You captured many of the things I want. My daughter is getting married. I want to travel. I want to fit into a comfortable chair or booth at a resturant. So now I know what I have to do. No matter what stumbleing blocks come up it is not an excuse to eat. Doing that is what has me on deaths door with almost 200 pounds to loose.

Tell the ill informed woman that diets don't work either. There are many people who loose all the weight they want to loose and keep it off. That is with hard work and effort. Then tell her to research it beofre she negatively tries to be hurtful and sabatoge you again. Then tell her if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

Normal for a Dr to charge a big upfront fee?
Slim Down Donna replied to SaucyBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello LeChill: My husband and I are both being banded by Dr. R. Hubby just had his this Friday. He has already lost 19 pounds. I have my last PCP weigh in Nov. First. Then I go next. These are the fees we paid. The Optifast is to shrink the stomach. Dr. Jesse also works with Dr. R. ( He is also a christian Dr. which means alot to hubby and myself) He is very kind and understanding. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Jesse also. Please join us at the palsm of passidina hopspital Thirsday evening from 6:30-7:30 for the support group. There you can get all your questions answered by the patients themselves. We have all the different pocedures and many of the physicans patients there. Remember you also have to have all those fills done. So you want to go where you will have the most support. Good luck to you. I hope we can meet soon. -
It also does not say how much more dangerous a surgery it is. There is no way someone is going to cut me up and reroute my organs. So I can never obsorb nuetrients norally. What happens when the stomach expands during by pass. If by pass was the answer why do so many by pass patients have the band placed after their by pass surgery? If one is going to report about a subject get it all correct. Give out all the information. Go Banders.

You are doing good and letting the band work for you. This journey is sometimes hard. Keep your eye on the prize. Decide you want to be thin rather than want the bad food and be fat, Remember to just say no, One of ny favorite sayings is "From a sliver, to a slice, to a slab, to a slob." -
Does it matter HOW I lose pre-op?
Slim Down Donna replied to Kellysue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your attitude is half the battle. SO call it stupid and convince yourself you are bored and you are half way there to making the band fail for yourself. The over induldgeing got us to be where we are today. You had all the food you wanted to in the past. Turn over a new leaf. Find recipies within the diet. Do everything your physicam wants you to do. Stick to it and the end result will be worth it. -

Slim Down Donna replied to amanda_leigh78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Please remember if you do what you did, You will get waht you got. So no more bad habits. Say no every time until you loose all the weight you want to and are at goal. That is making use of the tool you will be getting. Hubby is also being banded 10-21-11. Good luck to you. -

First of all stop guzzeling anything. Remember to eat slow. Don't drink when you eat. Before and after meals drink water like a fish. You might need to go in for your first fill.
-
It is so important to become a lable reader. Rasin ceral is not low cal or low carb. If you want this to work you have to eat the right low carb foods.
-
Maybe it is time for a fill. Go back to the basics. Only you can control what you put in your mouth. I know with just a little efort you can do this. I am rooting for you.

You look amazing. You only have 12 to go. You are so close. Continue your hard work AND you will reach your goal. You are a true inspiration to us all.

Already facing band-bias
Slim Down Donna replied to gwench's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry for the attitude you had to face. I would never let anyone cut out and reroute my body parts. The band has more success long term than by pass. Yes by pass looses quicker, but recent studies say more is lost with band over the long haul and weight stays off better with the band. Make sure you educate yourself so you can make you good infromed decisions. Also I have heard that people strecht out their small by pass pouch and gain all that weight back. Then the also go in for banding. -
Which brand to choose
Slim Down Donna replied to Slim Down Donna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!! I hope my time comes soon. I can not see any megatives with either band. So I am sure you will do well with the realize. There was a member in our support meeting who had one and she siad she choose it because it was less metal. She lost over 100 pounds and was at goal. She looked and felt great. -

My hubby is also doing the opti-fast. Surgery Oct. 21. He is drinking 3 a day only. He is allowed clear liqiud 0 to very low calorie food such as diet popscicles, beef broth, diet sods, diet jello. On his paln Dr. said you can have up to five optifast but he stresses he really wants us to stick to 3. So check and see if you can drop the optifast to 3 and add clear stuff. Hubby lost 10 pounds in 6 days. Good luck to you.

Am I really getting a band around my stomach???
Slim Down Donna replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to be banded about the same time as you. I went to a support meeting last night and the people that were banded had lost from 80 to 140 pounds. Every one of them had said it was the best thing they ever did. They were very open to share the good as well as the bad. They stressed this was only a tool. It still takes hard work and dedication. I want my life back after 40 years of trying to loose weight. Good luck and keep the faith. Donna
