What Is The Calorie Range You Aim For?
AngieG0410 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 3 months out and currently getting anywhere from 600-800 calories per day. I haven't yet gotten to 1000 calories. What target calorie range do you try to stay in? -
My dr has me taking it twice per day.

Use wonton wrappers instead of noodles for lasagna. Look at emilybites.com for ideas for her "cupcakes".

How far out were you when you tried salad? How did it go for you? I am 8 weeks out tomorrow and I am dying for a salad.

For my pre-op, I mixed one packet Carnation instant breakfast no sugar added with one scoop protein powder and skim milk. I did that 4 times per day. That gives you the nutrients you need.

What Was The Worst... (Newbie Here!)
AngieG0410 replied to Alexis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hands down, the worst part of this journey was the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I thought I would die - but I didn't. My advice is to do tons of research and decide which one (if any) is best for you. Choose a doctor you are confident in and go for it. You will not be sorry!! -

How Many Times A Day Do You Eat
AngieG0410 replied to urbandecayno5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to eat 6 times per day. Sometimes it is only 5.. I am 5 weeks out. Here was my schedule yesterday: B: 1/2 Protein bar S: 1/2 Protein Bar L: 2 oz deli turkey & 1 slice pepperjack cheese S: 1 oz deli turkey & 1 slice pepperjack cheese D: Tilapia filet S: Protein shake Between eating times, I drank 60 oz of water/crystal lite. I am working up to getting more Water, but it is hard. -
So I was at my parents over the weekend and my mom wants to test my blood sugar. It was like 177 - which is really high. So I decided to buy a meter and keep track of it just to determine if it was a 1 time fluke thing or a problem. I tested first thing this morning before I ate and it was 292!!!! I am eating next to 0 sugar & very low carbs. I keep track through MFP and I printed off the reports. I have a call in to my dr to see what he wants me to do. I googled and see that if your body has excess Protein (which is ALL I eat), it can turn it into sugar. I wasn't diabetic prior to surgery(although I had borderline high BS numbers at my highest weight) and I have dropped almost 50 lbs! Anyone have experience with this? Am I a freak of nature that will develop diabetes AFTER I lose weight? Freaking out over here..

Good luck!!

It takes a while to get up to being able to drink the required amount. I am 5 weeks out and still working to get it all in. If you are peeing and it isn't dark in color, you are ok.

Blood Sugar... Help!
AngieG0410 replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr called me. He said this is fairly common and it is a reaction to the surgery. He said my body is basically "whacked out" (my words, not his) and it will regulate itself, but to keep an eye on it. He said if I wanted to come in for peace of mind, he would be glad to see me. -
Am so paranoid about a leak. Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post op. Since yesterday I have felt bloated and had a crampy like feeling (middle of stomach and around to my back). This morning I took a drink of crystal lite and spent the next couple of minutes heaving over the toilet. I don't have a fever. So, in your "professional" opinions, does this sound like a leak or a virus or what??

Yes! Guess you have met them! My mom will be there with them. I am glad you got to "meet" them so at least you all will know someone there! How exciting!

My brother and sister in law will be getting sleeved the same day by Dr Garcia!! And I wouldn't "pig out", but if you are still able to eat, I would definitely have a taste. Hopefully you will get to meet my brother and SIL. Good luck to you!

Immediately After Surgery
AngieG0410 replied to krenee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never in much pain. On the 1-10 scale, I think I only got to a 5 - and that was just sore muscle type pain. My biggest complaint was the way they had me in the bed was really hurting my back, but that had nothing to do with surgery. You can expect discomfort. If you are in pain, they can give you meds for that. Good luck! -
Nope! Was completely off by day 4. Could have been sooner, but I was scared it would hurt if I didn't take them. LOL

I Need Help, What Eat After 4 Weeks
AngieG0410 replied to alwadi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the day before you! Glad you are doing well. My dr says I can have canned chicken now, but regular chicken at 2 months. Red meat I have to wait until 6 months. A lot of dr's allow meat sooner though. Check with your nutritionist or dr.
