Hi everyone! My band finally calmed down after the last fill and I can eat again--whew! I'm feeling really good with my restriction--think I'm currently in the "green zone". I bought size 18W pants yesterday!!!!! Woot woot!

I am chewing--and it was cheese and lunchmeat so nothing hard. UGH. I'm gurgling hard core when I drink too...Wondering if I got it too tight. I'm at 6.75/10. If I'm not better by Friday, I'll probably see if I can go in for a .25 unfill. The other 3 times I've been filled, I was tight the day of, but fine the next one. The upside: less than 300 calories and like 15 carbs so far today.

Oh man, two stucks on two meals. Think I'm going to do mushies for a couple days while my band hopefully relaxes. NOT FUNZIES.

Awesome Job JustDoIt!!!! I'm counting carbs today...although my band is so tight right now, i was barely able to eat any breakfast. OOF. Don't know if it will calm down some or if I need to go get .25 taken out. We shall see.

Jayadee--that's nuts! Why in the world would he withhold that info?? I agree with getting it. Also, 11 pounds in 5 weeks is AWESOME!!! My surgeon recommends 1-2 lbs/week, so you're above their goal. He probably would have been pissed at me for my .8 lbs/week. Frankly, he sounds like a jerk!

Also, I'm down 23.6 total since my liquid diet started on 1-1-12. 2.4 more pounds and I'm at 10%!!! Slowly but surely!

Hi Ladies! Just got back from my checkup. I was down 1.6 for the last two weeks, which is good, but certainly not optimal. The nurse is going to have me count carbs instead of calories for the next two weeks and see if that helps get the scale moving faster. 45 carbs/day. EEK. She said my port pain sounds normal and everything looks good with my incisions, so she wasn't worried. She used a local this time for the fill because last time it hurt! I'm up to 6.75cc in my 10 cc band.

Ack! That's crazy! I was on it for years with no problems. I agree to maybe try it again if the dr. has cleared it.

I agree with Justdoit on the Mirena. I found it to be a really mild BCP in terms of side effects! Nicole1: I am lugging a 19 pound baby around, so maybe all that lifting is making my port sore. I'll ask the nurse today and let you know her thoughts!

Nikol, the scale doesn't seem to be matching my changes either. I'm down 22 lbs, but I'm down from a size 24 to a 20. The most important thing is how you feel and how your clothes fit!

    Down 22 lbs

Down 22 lbs, in size 20 jeans (started at 24) and in an XL shirt! Yes, this is taken in a bathroom!

Hi everyone! I go in tomorrow for my 4th fill and checkup. I've been struggling a bit with the scale, but I bought size 20 jeans last weekend, which was great! (in size 24 before). I tried on Old Navy jeans and they fit for the first time in years!! I've been having a feeling of burning inside around my port. Also, having some pains around my belly button. This is too low to be my band, right? I'm going to ask about it tomorrow, but of course I'm freaked because I'm self-pay. Anyone else having pains in that area?
  16. Just curious---do you measure your food in ounces or cups?

    Newbie

Congrats!! The preop diet isn't fun, but I think strict adherence really helps your recovery, so you just have to white knuckle through it. I did pure protien shakes from Walmart. For clear liquids it was broth and Jello. I was able to have pudding, which tasted like heaven!! The first 3-4 days were rough for me, but after that, it was fine. My cravings went away and I felt fine. Good luck!!!
  18. Sounds like you've done a fantastic job!!!!

    Psycholgical Support After Banding

I was self-pay and had to meet with a therapist. I also see a therapist regularly on my own. I find that most therapists dont help with the food aspect (groundbreaking suggestions like eating carrots instead of junk food), but it can help a lot with the underlying emotional issues and also learning how to find a new way to cope. My surgeons office has monthly support group meetings which I think are great. I think if you're saying to yourself "I might want to talk to someone," then I think you should. Therapy is usually covered by most insurances, so you might be covered. Congrats on those size 12s!!!!!
  20. Sounds like a great attitude!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

    Glad it didn't hurt!!

    I learned something new!

When Did You Have Your First Drink?

I think I had some wine about 2 weeks after and was fine. I am drinking a lot less because I'm just overall more moderate and cautious with everything that goes in my body. Be careful with beer. If its in a can, pour it in a mug. That carbonation hurts!!

    Is This Possible?

I think you should feel the restriction right away. I know it's pricey to get fills, but it's worth it. Getting a band without fills is like getting a car without tires--it's not going to do you much good. I think most people need between 3-6 fills to hit their green zone. Hang in there!

    First Fill

Remember that it's a process to get to the green zone. After my first fill, I felt restriction for a couple days and then it went away. I've had my second fill and can definitely tell I have restriction, but I think I can handle more. Some people are done in 1 fill, others in 10.
