what is your favorite snack post op

Most of the grocery stores here in California sell them. They are made by Kraft. They also sell jalapeno flavor, but I'm not a fan of that really. They are usually right next to all the regular string cheeses.
  2. Dr. Zelada also did my surgery and he did a great job, I healed up nicely and had no complications whatsoever!!! I don't go to the support groups. I feel that I have managed fairly well, but I do come here for support and to answer questions, etc. The weight is coming off really slow now and I have to shake things up to get my body back into the losing mode. I have not gained any weight, well actually I gained 2 pounds over the holidays but took it off in January. I know what I have to do...less carbs more exercise!! How about you, how are you doing??
  3. Almost 10 months out - went thru Kaiser Panorama City - but had surgery at Kaiser West L.A. really happy with the bariatric program and how it all panned out. I would never have imagined that this dream came true for me. I have been a slow loser and I am at a standstill right now, but slow and sure has worked for me. I have to really push now to try and get alot closer to goal. How about you? Have you reached your goal yet?

String cheese (love the basil & sundried tomato flavor) and black olives. I also like reduced fat wheat thins, but don't eat them much because of the carbs.

    4 Wks Post Op Miserable

You should be getting over 60 grams of protein for proper healing and 64 oz of fluid, I know the fluid intake may be impossible for you right now but try your best with which EVER fluid you can tolerate and just keep on sipping. Can you tolerate chicken broth or beef broth or regular soup? Eggs are so hard to tolerate at first! Find something really soft that you like and stick to that for about two weeks and then gently introduce softer food. What about fish like tuna, is that an option??

    4 Wks Post Op Miserable

I am glad you posted again. After reading and posting on this forum for over a year I have seen quite a number of people that have to go about nutrition much slower than others. Obviously, you did have a stricture of sorts and that is why your doctor did the dilation treatment. If I were you I would not be trying to eat solids yet. I did not move to solids until well after 6 weeks and I did not have complications. Try going back to full liquids or pureed foods until you can tolerate the solids. You are not healed yet, and you probably just need more time. Also, it is helpful to log all your foods, liquids, protein and vitamins to be proactive with your self care and be able to see exactly what you are achieving with your nutrition. You can do this, but give yourself time!! Some ideas... Several cups of hot tea in the morning or decaf coffee Protein shakes Creamy Soups Yogurt Cottage Cheese Refried Beans with melted cheese Hot cereals (thinned out) Mashed potatoes with gravy Chili Beans pureed Soups pureed SF popsicles and jello SF puddings Lots of water, crystal light and other SF fluids Good luck!!

    Horror Story

Sistah...Sistah... thank you for coming back to revisit your original post and respond to several posts. I hope your sister responds to the stem cell therapy with stimulated tissue regeneration and can at sometime in the near future return to normal nutrition and the good times life affords us at holiday gatherings, etc. and those private moments of sipping a cup of coffee without a care in the world. Your sister's story helps me appreciate my own uncomplicated surgical outcome more each day!!

Here's my unusual story as to why I'm here

Well, however it happened, your stomach needed to be repaired from the damage the band caused. The gastric sleeve is a safe option for your continued weight loss and you should not have to worry about the procedure beyond getting through the various stages of your new nutritional guidelines. I suggest you pick up a handbook for VSG patients, many are available thru amazon. Many of us who have had no complications now realize this is the best choice we could have made in regard to our health. I feel incredible these days and I have strength and stamina. I'm closer to goal than I have been in decades. Of course, your husband thought he was doing what you wanted, and you know what, someday I have a feeling you will be thanking him for having your best interest at heart.

Panera Hidden Menu is Protein WOW

Far out! Thanks, I love Panera!
  13. Thanks for the update Liz. My prayers will be with you and your friend. My daughter has fibro as well, I know everyday tasks can be daunting! Hopefully you will manage the babysitting like a champ! Sometimes we need to step up and that is what we do for our loved ones. I am doing some caregiving for my mother, but I work full time as well, and my mothers health is declining very quickly...it is so hard at times to work through the tough times, but don't lose focus on your own health, and I am trying to do the same, to stay in a good place while I work the rest of this weight off. I stopped losing so I have to do something to shake it up, I know it involves exercise and reducing carbs...I will get there!!

  15. OP. Have the snack wrap without the tortilla. You have plenty of feedback here to support your decision.

Someone else posted last week with similar symptoms and the leg thing. There is a name for that and it is nuero related. Maybe google that symptom and follow up with your GP.

    Urgent care

Sorry you are going through this. Did you put a call in to your surgeons office? Every office should have an exchange that can make contact 24 hrs a day. Can you eat and drink normally? Is the pain constant or episodic??

    The evolution of profile pictures

    Urgent care

I agree that you need to follow up next week with your surgeon so that he can help you manage any further episodes of pain you might have, and also do further testing if need be. Take care!!

    Hi, I'm new.

I can just picture that. Luckily fish is easy to tolerate and so healthy for you post sleeve. Hope you make alot of good friends here during your journey!! Hope time flies by for you. I had a 12 week supervised diet and then had surgery last April 2012. I feel like a new woman! I started at 280 and size 3X-4X and now in a 14. I want to lose about 40 more I think. I'm a slow loser but it is coming off, no gains at all! Lovin my sleeve!

    Urgent care

You deserve the support! Hope you do ok tonight, get some rest and hopefully tomorrow you're feeling ALOT better.
  22. It happens to most WLS patients, for me it started in my pre-op dieting and continued until about 7 months post-op. I kept my hair trimmed so it wouldn't look straggly, no one ever seemed to notice but me, heck it was scary getting fistfuls at times. Its filling back in nicely now...I'm 9 months out.

    Urgent care

No one is here to judge you, hey you were being proactive and that is the right thing to do!! Listen to your body, if you feel worse or something else pops up then follow up. I've never heard of pain from morphing? Did the pain come up suddenly or over a prolonged period? Had you been working out? Do you keep hydrated, because dehydration can make you spasm all over...just wondering. We are all here if you need to talk.

    Hi, I'm new.

Yeah, the day cruise, it takes you as close as it can and you hear the glacier calfing and the little cruise ship cuts through the ice, all you hear is scraping! I was up for a 3 day weekend from Los Angeles, so I wanted to do a day run hence the drive down Seward Highway. I saw a moose and her calf on the way back and had a "moment" she was waiting to cross the highway so I pulled over and she looked right at me and paused, so I sent her a mental message to go ahead, and she did...and I was soon back on my way. Never experienced anything like that except with a dog! I went to a swap meet when I was there and loved it, loved the coffee and had a smoked salmon quesadilla! I bought some hand made Eskimo art and jewelry too...a lovely experience and I traveled alone.

    Hi, I'm new.

Hope you find lots of good info here. I visited Anchorage a decade ago in the summer and loved the charm of the town, went to see the glacier at Portage, went to a wedding. Gosh the food was amazing too, smoked salmon and the best lobster. I still love those foods and can still have them with my sleeve, but without all the sides and starters!! Welcome!!
