Yeah, that's probably the feeling for YOU. I also get the slight tightness and hiccups, about 4 or 5 and I immediately stop eating. If you go too far you will definately feel uncomfortable. This just happened to me yesterday.

You're not ready yet. Move back to full liquids. Yogurt, puddings, creamy soups and your protein shakes and thinned out cereals. Try again in another week, but try the consistency of purees....fat free refried beans, cottage cheese with pureed fruit, soups. Everyone heals at a different rate.

Sweet Potatoes From A Sweet Man
Katie713 commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
The same thing happened to me yesterday for the first time. I ate one bite to much and had to run to the bathroom gagging. Nothing much came up, but I had the heaves and felt like crap for about 20 minutes until things started moving!! -
An Introduction (A Little Bit Late)
Katie713 replied to Paula Spurlock Butts's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tracking your intake is paramount in making sure you are getting your fluids/protein. Check labels for protein intake and keep a journal of what you drink. -
One easy meal is get a can of chicken (light& dark meat) and add it to a can of chicken gravy, served on mashed potatoes. Its so soft and tastes good, and you're getting protein from the chicken and the gravy is very low cal. I'm 4 weeks out and this is a staple and very tolerable.

4 Days After Surgery And I Feel Like I'm Starving To Death!
Katie713 replied to ginajet77's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
As a Kaiser patient the surgeon and nutritionist had me on clears for 3 days only and then onto full liquids for the next 12 days, then transitioned to pureed/soft diet. Full liquids include thinned hot cereals, creamy soup, yogurt, sugar free puddings and regular protein shakes. This helps ALOT. Perhaps this might be an option for you...many of us use this time line with no ill effects. Good Luck! -
Same with me 4 weeks out. Tried scrambled eggs with cheese (a pre-op fave) and felt miserable. I won't try again for awhile. Usually I just have hot cereal for breakfast, oatmeal or cream of wheat, I tolerate cottage cheese very well with soft canned fruit so that is also a great go to.

I've been dreaming of a Starbuck's coffee...I go back to work next week after a month off. I had my surgery 4/6. I think I'm going to treat myself to a tall skinny mocha! Thanks for all the info my VSG friends! With the pre-op diet and since surgery I'm down 63 pounds!

What The Heck Was That? Scary...
Katie713 replied to Pagie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a gallbladder stone attack to me. I had episodes like that years ago after losing weight and had to have my gallbladder removed. Just recently had VSG on 4/6 and my doctor said glad your gallbladder is already out since it is very common after WLS. -
Had My Surgery On Monday April 30

Nikki82...go to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and get Isopure. Its clear liquid protein with 40 grams in 20 oz bottle..they have alot of flavors I liked grape frost. I even saw some at Rite Aid one time but they always have it at the other stores I mentioned. There are also clear protein powders in fruit flavors, Nectar has a good selection. Protein is imperative to healing. Good Luck! -
Starting Class Tomorrow

I did Options last Fall and was so impressed with everything I learned and lost the 10% they recommend before sugery. I had surgery 4/6 at West LA and was so impressed with the surgeon Dr. Zelada and his team. I'm doing great! On soft foods now and tolerating most foods well, it is weird to be full with just 1/2 cup for a meal. Since the start of the program I'm down 63 pounds, very happy with the decision and the entire process with Kaiser. -
Muffin Top - Wth?

A good body shaper helps alot, go try a few on, also the abdominal wraps that help you lose water from the middle...bed bath and beyond carries them for$15. The Biggest Loser website sells all kinds of shapers until you get to where you want to be and then when you reach goal if its just skin, consider the tummy tuck. -
Loose Bowel Movement
Katie713 replied to kmbrlycool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, completely normal when not eating solids, this will change when you move to full liquids, then mushies, fiber helps. Beans and sweet potatoes are loaded with fiber and miralax and benefiber help. -
Scrambled Eggs Allowed On Pureed?
Katie713 replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a problem, try again in a week. For some reason my tummy doesn't tolerate them well yet...I had surgery a little over 3 weeks ago. I am craving eggs, be happy when I can have them. Oatmeal today : ) -
Same thing happenee to me, I took the pain meds and took it easy for a few days and the pain subsided and did not come back. I had my post op and the surgeon said I may have torn an internal stitch but that with rest it would be fine...and I am fine.

Post Op Day 4- Hungry And Depressed
Katie713 replied to MamaT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better. I had surgery 4/6 and 3 weeks out I am enjoying the flavors of regular food but of course pureed or very soft. Cottage cheese with pureed fruit (canned peaches, pears, pineapple) goes down so easy. Fat free refried beans with melted cheese, tuna and tilapia, all kinds of soups, hot cereal. I have good energy too, not crazy about the protein shakes, but at this stage I need them. It will definately get easier very soon! -
Completely normal. It will change as your stages move forward. Once you move to full liquids it will normalize and the same for mushy stage.

Gallbladder pain radiates on the right side under and above the ribcage and also radiates to the back between the shoulder blades. That is how mine was diagnosed, classic pain pattern verified by ultrasound. You already know you have gallstones, so there is a high probability they are blocking the bile ducts. But yes, see how you feel...if it continues, just go on in and have it checked out.
-
Wait until your incision heals completely. Don't compromise your healing. There will be plenty of time to work out after you get thru this.
-
Probably tender where your incision goes thru the layers of tissue and up thru the abdominal cavity. Did you do something strenuous? Just take it easy for a few days and see if it goes away, otherwise contact your doctor.

Me too, added creamy PB at 2 weeks to my vanilla protein shake. No problem whatsoever digesting it and its high protein too.

Need Puree Stage Food Ideas
Katie713 replied to legal loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course all hot cereals, fat free refried beans with melted cheese, scrambled eggs with cheese, canned chicken cooked in chicken gravy on top of mashed potatoes. Sweet potatoes, bean soups pureed in the food processor or blender, all creamy soups, tuna fish. Cottage cheese with fruit, yogurt. As long as its very soft and chewed well, remember you'll get full on very little. Go slow. -
It sounds like it very well could be. I had to have my gallbladder removed years ago after I had my last child and lost weight quickly afterward. Weight loss aggrivates gallstones. I had definate episodic pain that made me run to the bathroom in pain, severe painful episodes. Fat in the diet sets it off as well as spicy foods because of bile stored in the gallbladder needed for digestion. Go to urgent care if its bad pain and they will do an ultrasound. The pain comes when the stone gets in the ducts.

7 Days Out And I Finally Felt Hunger
Katie713 replied to FluffyBleu76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 3 weeks ago today. It was the same for me at first then slowly I could feel hunger return and I was happy to feel normal...but as others have said, you will be easily satisfied with a tiny amount of food. Spacing liquid intake with shakes and meals takes some getting used to. I am great with liquids. Last week I invited family over for tostadas and I still loved cooking...I had 1/2 cup of refried beans with cheese and a little salsa and sour cream. I got a little overly full (just one bite too many) so I took a walk and felt just fine. Good Luck! -
I can finish 8 oz of protein shake no problem, hot cereals and soups 1/2 cup, dense food like meats/veggies about 1/4 cup, about 3 weeks out and 13 pounds down since surgery. I feel great!
