Hi all, Haven't been on for a bit....We lost our internet and phones for 2 weeks thanks to some thieves nicking the copper wire out of the phone lines. I didn't realise how much I depended on the internet. I had my first fill a week ago, I had 3mls, can't really feel a difference yet though. I'm trying hard to resist all the things I know I shouldn't have and have stocked up on soup and slimfast and nice veg for steaming. I was thinking of having another fill in Dec but I think I'll enjoy christmas and have my next one in Jan, or should I get a fill in Dec aaaaahhhhhhhhh, I wish I could make my mind up. I had my band 8 weeks ago, I lost 21 lbs but seem to be stuck there, not putting any on though, so I suppose that's something. I think I just need to be more disciplined about what I am eating and the portion sizes. One of the guys I had my op with reminded me to drink a glass of water before I eat and another after, I think this will help. I suppose a long time of eating all the wrong things in huge amounts too often will take a bit of time to leave behind. Making pictures of the food I'm craving in my head and tasting it in my imagination before I even went out and got the Indian or the chinese or the kebab.....I'm working on changing the way I set myself up to fail. I really do enjoy the soups that I'm eating and I love steamed veg and fish or chicken, I just have to know this all of the time. Hope you are all happy and well and thanks again for being here......an understanding ear and stomach, when I need one. :^)

Cadence and Slinky, you have both made me feel better. I was feeling bad about not doing any exercise. I had my op about 4 weeks ago, so I'm off the liquids but still eating lots of soup just because I like it. Anyway, on my way home from the op on the train on my last leg of the journey back home I had my case pushed up against my knees so a man could sit opposite and I think I did something to one of my knees, I have left it thinking it would get better over time but I think it is just getting worse. I suppose I will have to go and see my GP. As a consequence I haven't been able to do any exercise either. I hope it gets better soon because I would like to crack on and start doing a bit because I was never very good at doing any exercise before the band and I didn't want to slip back into being that way again One of my friends has joined a Zumba class and says she really enjoys it, she says it feel more like fun than exercise. Can't imagine that myself lol exercise being fun I mean but I'm willing to give it a go.

Hi all, I changed my moniker to SlimSindy from husk, thought it seemed a bit more upbeat. Feeling brilliant about having taken the plunge and had a band fitted, also really pleased about having it done with Dr Chris and his team in Belgium. It is so exciting when I step onto the scales now.....I can't say I have ever felt like that before about my scales. My weight is decreasing and my confidence is increasing by the day. Hope everyone is feeling great and positive in their new life.

Ta Slinky, I went to the ticker place and sorted one out, now I just have to mess about a bit and work out how I get it in here. I'll be posting again soon, so I'll see if I can work it out by then. That will be my mission, should I choose to accept it. Or I might just wait for my partner to come back home, computers are where he excels < oh, little pun there Just off to have a fat free prune yoghurt....never had one before but I'm thinking it might help with the old plumbing

Me too. I just kept thinking, I'll have an Indian because this will be my last for ages and donner kebab and chinese and all the other foods that we all overeat on. I was worried too in case I got turned away but that didn't happen. I think they would prefer and it would be best to try, to reduce the size of your liver for the op. Don't bother taking a dressing gown, I bought one of those big fluffy ones for the hospital, which took up loads of room up in me case but all the time I was there I just wore the hospital nightie, tight white stocking you are given to reduce the chance of blood clots and really thats all you need. There was 6 of us having it done when I was there, 3 women and 3 men. We all stayed in the same hotel and went to the hospital together, we did everything together really and Its been a few weeks since my op and we are still in touch with each other, to help each other through the new life we are just starting.

Thanks for your support MummiesBB, It's great to get all this wonderful advise and know that all the little niggly pains and the gas are common things to get. I am so filled with gas I may float away soon.

So far I am very pleased with my band and the way Dr Chris and his staff looked after me, they are very conscientious and conciderate. I would recommend him to anyone. The whole experience was really good. The hospital is fantastic, so modern and state of the art. I felt safe and looked after. The staff were really helpful to and put me at ease. So pleased I made the decision to get banded, It was a big decision for me but when you think about all the advantages of being fitter and healthier there really is no contest. Better life, here I come. :^)
