About Me

rose.gifrose.gifrose.gifHello my name is Stephanie I just blew out my candles Sept 11th so I'm now 2 years closer to 30. I am happily married and have one beautiful daughter who is 4yrs old. My husband is completely supportive of my decisions, we have been together since we were 14 and don't plan on going anywhere. He is my true soul mate. My journey began in January 2011 when I attended my initial consult at the surgeons office. I took home the paper work did lots of research online and thru sites such as this one a OH. I had an appointment to start the process in March. Meanwhile in February went on vacation and had time to think about it. I decided to cancel my appointment. Just wasn't too sure what I wanted yet. Did some more research and as of Sept 28th I was sleeved. My hospital visit was 2 night and 3 days. The first night all I remember is my hands and feet were freezing and just kept hitting the morphine so I wouldn't feel anything. Day 2 I was still freezing and my face felt on fire. I was itchy all over. I decided to stop the morphine on my own, the nurse came in about an hour after and took my temp which was 103.9 and my heart rate was going a little crazy. I told them my thoughts and refused the morphine, they immediately called my surgeon. Three hours later I was up walking around my temp was down to 99.1 and my feet were getting warm which was a huge plus. My surgeon started me on Vicodin and that worked perfectly. I was sleeved on Wed and released on Fri. I've am now one week post opp and doing well getting my protein and liquids. It is definitely a chore but can be done and does get easier. However 4 days post opp I came down with a horrible head cold and nasty cough -- Not fun at all!! If I didn't have this cold I'd feel awesome! So my journey has been good so far and one week post opp I am down 15 lbs. I'm sure that will slow down once I get to eat more variety of foods. My thoughts are if you are thinking about doing this go for it. I thought recovery would be much harder and it was a breeze. Thanks to the big man above and my wonderful husband who takes good care of me and my daughter. rose.gifrose.gifrose.gif
