Types of excersizes 6 days post op?
Lapbandster replied to jazzmattazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should be taking it easy for a couple of days, especially steering clear of abdominal crunches. Ask your doctor, but personally I'd wait it out. I know it's tough but just think of all the weight you just lost! -
Good device that counts calories and monitors heart rate suggestions?
Lapbandster replied to Lapbandster's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks Velvet I'm looking for something that monitors heart rate AND calculated calories burned without needing to be on a machine. -

Lapbandster replied to tubs73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They will send your images to a radiologist who will send it to your doc -
Sounds like you're too tight Stress can trigger sudden tightness of the band Maybe call your insurance and get your policy # and give that to your doc instead of waiting for the card to come in. When it arrives then just fax it to your doc's office

What to take for general aches and pains?
Lapbandster replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same like Missy I take everything the same as before surgery But ask your doctor because some don't like when their patients take ibuprofen -
How long should i take off work???
Lapbandster replied to manders80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was perfectly fine 2 days after surgery But it really depends on age, comorbidities, and overall health of the patient. A week should be more than enough even if you are not a "fast healer" -
Wish I had one! Maybe next fill...

It's when they fold your stomach in via stapling which reduces it's capacity it can be done with a lapband but is a bit more invasive Not a lot of research available on it yet, which is why some insurance's won't cover it. (but the preliminary reports show low risks/high success) I did not do it, because when asking my doctor he said "a lapband surgery is like a 4 on a scale of 1-10 of invasiveness, but with the plication it raises it to a 6-7" So I decided against it

Getting over your weight loss plateau
Lapbandster replied to supersweet31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Just drink and drink! It's hard, I know but don't even think of cheating! You will only feel guilty and it will hurt your self esteem in the long run Good luck sister! -
Frustrated with Fills. What is normal?
Lapbandster replied to Ray in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) I think your doctor sees your progress and that you're doing so well and therefore doesn't feel the need to be aggressive with your fills (great job on your loss btw!) 2) Or maybe he doesn't want to overfill you since you already once had an issue -
Even after losing weight. Why do i still look and feel fat?
Lapbandster replied to tym4me's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I feel the same way Ironically I feel the like I weigh 1000 lbs on the days that I pigged out and feel better when I eat well (even if on the scale my weight didn't change at all on each of those days), In general the more weight I lose the more I stare at myself in the mirror and see my flaws (blub rolls, chubby cheeks, dark circles under my eyes etc.) whereas when I was morbidly obese I never noticed since I avoided mirrors altogether -
Nice! better start stocking up on suspenders!

For me personally, when i'm stuck boy do I feel it! There is never a question in my mind... But if you're not sure, sip some cold Water and pay attention as it goes down. You should be able to feel it going down if you're not stuck. If you ARE stuck, the water will sit in the back of your throat. If you're stuck you must get an immediate unfill, as tyou don't wanna stretch your stoma
