Are sliming and vomiting the same?
Lapbandster replied to HYAC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, vomiting is different than sliming/pb'ing When we vomit, our stomach's forcefully and violently contract below the band. sliming and PB'ing is when the food comes up from above the band Seems similar, but in banding world they are very different -
Bad heartburn causing me heartache :(
Lapbandster posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So about two weeks ago I started having heartburn. Nothing too major, no reflux, no gagging or night cough. I emailed my doctor thinking it wouldn't be a huge big deal but he freaked me out saying he MUST see me today for an unfill. I dropped everything and ran (actually drove 45 mins, but wtvr!) He put the syringe into my port and had me sit up and drink a glass of water. As I drank, some fluid spritzed out of the band into the syringe (Only a few droplets) He was satisfied with that and told me everything was fine. On the way home I started feeling some heartburn and called him. He said not to worry because it's just lingering irritation. Fast forward two weeks, and i'm still struggling with the heartburn. I emailed him yesterday and he wants to see me tomorrow for a total unfill and possibly get an x-ray on Friday. I have no issues keeping down fluids or any food (unless of course I eat like a pig without chewing properly and taking big bites) which is why I don't think I'm too tight. So I fear a slip....!! Has anyone ever had a similar story/struggle? I would love to hear, cuz i'm really lost. Of course i'm fearing the worst, and probably overreacting but my surgeon did sound nervous and asked me to come in urgently... -

Thanks Cazzy! I appreciate the response! I just went in for an unfill and still feel some discomfort (less than before) but I am hoping it's just lingering irritation and not a major problem! (fingers crossed) -
Thats a lot! Way more than me! I lost 55 lbs and have been banded since august 2012

Port flipped no longer can get fills - sad day......
Lapbandster replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go see a new doctor! The port revision surgery is relatively simple, and you may not even need complete anesthesia! If everything else about your band has been successful, then why would you switch?? -

Stomach sounds like a bathroom/ toilet bowl
Lapbandster replied to hairloss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh dear... Maybe have some soft music playing in the background at your office to drown out the sound? You say it sounds like farts and a toiletbowl? did I read correctly? Are you eating lots of Beans and other gassy foods? -
I can now cross my legs (most of the time!) I can now fit into size 14's vs. 20-22 I can now do the elliptical for 30-40 mins without being winded vs. 10 mins and feeling like I was gonna die!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're giving up! I usually hear of ppl getting their bands removed from complications, but it seems like you lost patience, and I don't blame you Good luck with your WL journey!

PLEASE don't try losing 58 lbs in one month... 4 lbs/month is good, anything more is excellent but don't set your expectations so high or you may feel let down!

Heartburn issues
Lapbandster replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! Its now 2 weeks later and still heartburn!!! Doc emailed me that he wants to do a total unfill!! His ominous emails always freak the daylights outta me! I will bE seeing him on thurs, I hope its just tightness and not a slip I'm so distraught -
Hey everyone! Had my surgery in August and have been losing a nice amount of weight and have had ZERO issues with my band (yay!) (knock on wood!) However, for the past month I have been suffering from heartburn. It's not consistent so I manage it, but its definitely a real pain. I don't have reflux, and I don't think i'm too tight It was really bad last night when I was laying flat.... Anyone have any advise? Anyone have any recommendations for good/band friendly heartburn meds? Thanks

Burning sensation, pain in my stomach, burning skin, shoulder wont let up
Lapbandster replied to balbuquerque's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't burden yourself worrying if you made a mistake... Spend this time healing and learning about your body and your ful signs. Many people sneeze or get hiccups when they're full -
I don't think it's so great for a bandster No restriction and the calories slide right through
-
Honestly no... How many fills have you had? When you say you cant eat anything, can you at least get liquids down? How about soft foods like yogurt or cottage cheese? I am not at proper restriction so I do battle hunger a lot, but I never have trouble getting things down (unless I eat harsh foods like a pig without chewing properly)
-
Wow, I have NEVER heard of someone with a slipped band having no symptoms...
-
Just to add what the other's have already said, you should know that not all birth control pills are bad! SOME are horrible, especially the crappy brands, but if you seek hard enough, you will find a good brand that will not give you adverse effects.

Hi! I'm new and gotta question about my port
Lapbandster replied to CanCan1791's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Some people can't see it, most people can feel it (like a hard disc under the skin) and others can not only see the outline of the port, but see an actual bump that protrudes out of the skin. I too, was worried about this in the beginning but now i've lost over 50 lbs and am really getting close to my goal weight, and still cannot see it, just feel it. If it's really obvious and noticeable you could always get it replaced with a smaller port, but really don't worry about it right now! As my doc said "we'll cross that bridge when we get there"
