Y'know it's interesting, everyone is telling me to look into myself deeply and ask myself why psychologically I feel the need to EAT and cheat on my diet (which I barely did, but my diet is not liquids its just atkins and early out i had a bite of something with carbs), but the fact is that, I'M HUNGRY! There's nothing deep about that! When i'm not eating right I simply have a MUCH BIGGER desire to pig out. And thats where (i sure hope) the band will help me. If i'm not starving myself trying to diet, i will be able to eat normal foods/portions. I think that anyone who was able to go through their preop diets without cheating is really amazing! But I also think that those who are truly struggling have lots of hope too

I Love Been Banded And Plicated!
Lapbandster replied to ilikebunnies's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
GRRRR This makes me even more miserable that my surgeon won't do plication Hearing everyone's success stories makes me really want it. I need to lose the weight! -
When you walk try taking deep breaths instead of short shallow breaths. That helps me when im out of breath (deep inhale through nose and out through mouth) Also, if walking is so tough then maybe (at least until you lose some weight and can walk comfortably) you can exercise your arms by lifting 1-2 pound weights. Even for a few mins while watching tv/a movie. Or try doing crunches. Just take it slow and try to build up your strength. I totally understand you- i'm in a similar boat. I'm extremely obese (240) and I find it hard to briskly walk on the treadmill for even 20 mins, but I keep pushing myself even through my discomfort and try walking (even if i have to slow down at intervals) for a full 60 minutes and do 100 crunches. It's lame, i know, but at least it's a start...

Called My Surgeon On His Cell. Thought I Was Dying...

So besides Tylenol, what pain relievers are not damaging to the stomach lining? -

Forever? Or just for a few months pre/post op? -
lol ew. I always wondered about this. The "full" feeling is the same as before? My doc gave me the impression that my "full" feeling would be in my esophagus as opposed to in my stomach. I'm happy to hear that your full feelings are like they used to be. I REALLY hope mine will be too. I can't imagine feeling OK with anything else

1 Day To Go And Not Feeling Well....
Lapbandster replied to utcaneuser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
'My surgery is this friday I'm feeling the exact same way as you. But dont be worried about not waking up. I spoke to the anesthesiologist and he said that I have a bigger chance of getting hurt on the freeway then by going "under" (And i drive on the freeway every day!!) -

why not ibuprofen? Is it bad for the band? To the OP: Glad your feeling better! -
Glad you're feeling better

I completely understand. It's like they don't understand us! Of COURSE I'm ready to change, but WITH THE BAND and RESTRICTION changing will be feasible whereas now it feels like an impossibly high mountain to climb. I'm ready to workout, watch what i eat, and put in WORK, but on the pre-op diet i feel like i'm alone. With the band I'm sure I will have more confidence (restriction)

What stories?? Stories about livers being too large?

6 Weeks In And No Success :'(
Lapbandster replied to saritin81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks! -
whoa! NICE! Just out of curiosity, do you have/when did you start feeling restriction? I would be thrilled to lose that much in your time frame but I'm hearing that the first 4-6 months is pure willpower and usually NO restriction
-
Your fine don't worry My surgeon has NO PROBLEM with carbonation That doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to your docs orders, but i'm saying this just to put it into perspective that some people drink carbonated drinks all the time and have no problems (besides belching awfully)
-
Just walk. Get a pedometer and see how many steps you take on a regular day. Then keep increasing. Then increase the speed (if possible) Eventually you should join a gym and work out other muscles (arms abs etc) I have a treadmill and walk briskly for an hour and try to sprinkle a few mins of running. Hopefully I will increase my running time. Get some good music that makes you wanna groove!

6 Weeks In And No Success :'(

GREAT POST!! I'm getting my band on friday and will be reffering to this post when times get tough. A little reminder of the rules will do me good. Can we be friends lol -
Your post makes me extremely nervous. WHY are you still so hungry 6 months later?????
-
No, your certainly not the only one. With me its SO weird! I honestly have no clue if i'm cheating or not because my doc was SO VAGUE! And now i think he's on vacation so I doubt i'll even be able to confirm with him This morning I had part of a protein shake Omlet with cheese (this was his recommendation) and some watermelon I honestly am so confused
-
So so glad tohear that! I was begining to think I was the only one NOT doing liquid diets before surgery. With your diet, are you allowed to eat cheeses/meats? I'm just confused bc my doc said "atkins" and I know that atkins includes everything besides carbs. However does it make sense that I'm allowed fatty foods!?
-
I'm in a similar boat. My diet is just lots of protein and low cards (atkins style) and I've REALLY been struggling. I'm terrified but my surg isn't till Friday so I will just drink protein shakes till then and cross my fingers. #sososcared

Oooh Stacie what happened?? Are you in pain?

Help! Don't Know Whether To Tell Coworkers..
Lapbandster replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I did not tell anyone besides my sisters and mother. And I don't plan to tell anyone else. As someone else said, they will be always curios and asking questions (obviously no one tries to be rude but I cannot stand the badgering). Maybe they'll be negative and try to talk you out, and that would be very hard for you. Furthermore, it's very possible that it will take a few months to lose weight/get properly adjused and 99% of ppl don't realize this. Do you really want them writing you off as a "failure" when the pounds don't magically melt off? It's just not worth it in my opinion. As for the liquids, you can just say you have a bad flu or a stomach virus and the doc recommends liquids for a few days to hydrate you. I know you probably won't like lying, but maybe you can say you got your appendix removed or something?
