Lapbandster replied to Sarahemma94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I Am A Bit Over Zealous In The Burping Department.....
Lapbandster replied to thetxdiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Phew thanks everyone for clearing that up! My friend ALWAYS makes these burps that stink like deli. At least 2-3 times a minute and i'm so grossed out from it, I can barely stand it So relieved that these burps are different -
I Made A Huge Mistake And It Was Not A Good Outcome!
Lapbandster replied to MiriamE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just wondering, why is that? I thought the liver stores fats, so wouldn't a lowfat diet be better? Where does the low carbs/high protein fit iin with the liver? -
4 Yrs. Later My Surgeon Says He "doesn't Believe In Lap Band"
Lapbandster replied to rustymarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stevegoad: as much as this is a tool, its no help (and actually hinders weight loss) when overfilled. In a normal situation I would agree withh you but this doc seems insane To the origional poster: u MUST find a new doc! Start by googling hospitals with bariatric docs affiliated with them and call them one by one until u find someone willing to take a new patient -
I Am A Bit Over Zealous In The Burping Department.....
Lapbandster replied to thetxdiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh NOT looking forward to the burping. i personally get grossed out soo badly from burps (especially the smelly ones which I hope these are not ) So lord help me if this is an issue!! I have a friend who makes really stinky burps and I find it extremely difficult to be near her. I hope I don't become like that -
Felling Nauseous Right After I Eat!!
Lapbandster replied to sandra07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great idea on the infant utensils (I guess i'll have to steal from my niece lol) and i'm really really gonna try to give myself at least 30 mins to eat. I think if there's no rush to eat then there wont be as many issues -
wowow!!! AMAZING to hear!! BTW, are you starving because you can't keep the liquids/food down? Or does the band help with the hunger feeling?

How Did You Decide Your Goal Weight?
Lapbandster replied to ontherighttrack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I picked out a number from thin air. I was NEVER thin so I have no previous good weights to look forward to. I have no idea how my body will change or how I will look. I chose 140 lbs for the heck of it. -
Just Received Approval Today
Lapbandster replied to choosesuccess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow!! What a great feeling! I will never forget the elation i felt when hearing the news. I was walking on clouds -
I asked my surgeon this question. He said that if you've never had any gallbladder problems pre-band, then its not likely that you will need it removed. IF you have had problems previously then its a whole different story

Lap Banders Only Lose 55% Of Their Excess Weight??
Lapbandster replied to WendyMay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't let people discourage you. Statistics are statistics- doesnt mean that will be you. For what it's worth, Gastric Bypass patients tend to lost 65% of excess weight vs. the 55% of Lap Band patients. So 10% more weight lost ("statistically") but SO much more complications! Please don't let your NP, or random strangers in the waiting room talk you out of something you have decided to do -
My advice to you: Take 2500 mg of biotin Take a once a day vitamin (to make sure your not lacking anything) Make sure your getting plenty of protein

OMG getting banded in two days!! I literally cant breathe!!! Not sure if it's my nerves or excitement!! Roxygirl, clarks4Willie, Beautiful-B, sews4fun and DeAna how are you feeling?

So moral of the story: Don't try to outsmart your doctor or your band. Making it too tight will NOT help you lose weight quicker! It will only make you feel miserable THANKS for posting this! I needed to hear it

Crazy Story From Pre Op Class
Lapbandster replied to KristinsMommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Glad it motivated you, but something about it seems "off" As elcee has pointed out, they do NOT OPEN your stomach. Also how could the surgeon see the cheeseburger? 2 days later (even if he gulped it down without chewing) it would have looked like mush mixed with digestive juices (did the surgeon tell you he saw the lettuce and tomato too? ) LOL!! Maybe with the sleeve/RNY surgery this was seen, but even then it makes little sense because if he ate the cheeseburger and it was in his stomach he would've been in big trouble with anesthesia/aspiration pneumonia. But i'm glad it motivated you -
