    Getting Restarted

Very interesting video This is the first doctor I have heard talking about the nerve effects. I'm so surprised I have not heard any of my docs speak about this- It's very crucial and interesting!

    Lapband Changing My Life

I agree with everything the others have said Also, remember you won't be living away from him for that long! Before you leave to have your surgery, do some research as to finding a doctor who will help you with the follow-up care. Yes, these doctors do exist (and then you can be with him right after surgery) As for the support, you can still get familial support from a distance and even try visiting then once a month. Don't forget, your local hospital for sure has a support group that you can join- that will be helpful But, as everyone else has said, it doesn't sound like this is the only problem...

    Is This Bandster Hell???

Ugh yep its bandster hell good luck!! It DOES get better! (or so i've heard- i'm still waiting )
  4. Interesting thread I'm feeling quite miserable myself. Between my preop diet and now 5 days post op I have only lost 14 lbs, and don't even notice A THING. Clothes are not looser, and no one notices (or believes me!) ehhhh, maybe i'm just bummed out a little bit because I still can only eat liquids and i'm miserably hungry!

    Just Met With The Dr.

I agree with everything that 2muchfun has said. Many doctors will try to sway patients towards the sleeve/bypass because the real moneymaker is in the operating room and not the follow ups/ fills (which is about half what a lapband surgeon spends time with). btw, my surgeon himself told me this this makes me realize not put it past doctors to falsely give their patients rose colored glasses of promises and blanket statements that they'll "never regain the weight back." Please don't let him misinform you Good luck, and please ask more questions on here. You will get answers from real patients at various points in the process

    Just Met With The Dr.

Ok, so you have a slow metabolism, and the band may not help you lose (I'm not sure I believe this BTW, because it depends on what you choose to eat). BUT at least the band will assist you in not GAINING! Thats a success too, in my humble opinion (given your metabolic situation)

Omg Down 140Lbs In 13 Months!

WOW!! just WOW!!! I LOVED reading this post!! One question though: I'm a lapband newbie (just banded on friday), so would you be able to share your "top five" rules/tips that you recommend people should follow to try to follow in your sucessful footsteps? I would LOVE to hear from someone who has "been there done that" Thanks!!

    Bad Breath?

Yah I have heard that this can cause burps and really stinky farts too (guess i'm not exactly gonna be a catch for the next while ) Keep drinking Water and keep some tic tacs (or other breath fresheners) in your pocket Also, mention this to your doc/nutritionist, i'm sure they can help

What Was Your Post Op Liquid Diet Like?

WOW, My doc has one rule: I can eat anything that can be sipped through a straw. This is for one week Its so difficult for me because i find myself eating and drinking really really fatty foods because I'm SO HUNGRY!

Post Surgery But No Weight Loss

Same thing happened to me. One day after surgery my scale showed a gain of 5 lbs I too, was freaking out but just remember to be patient. The weight WILL come off
  13. As everyone else has said, keep your December date. You will be fine 6 weeks post op. I just had my surgery this past Friday and feel good as new

    Grieving The Food Already

I too, am mourning food. I'm on my post-op diet right now which limits me and to be honest, i'm scared as hell (pardon my language) and very hungry for solid foods. BUT, I KNOW that this will be worth it. I've already lost a total of 12 pounds which makes me grin from ear to ear and I know that being healthy will bring me joy and happiness that food just simply cannot

    Best Day At The Gym...ever!

wow! I'm a couple days post op and feel SO encouraged from this! Thanks for the post, and keep up the good work!
  17. WOW you took the words right out of my mouth Even though the scale says i lost 10 pounds, it sure doesn't look like it or feel like it. 10 lbs seems like soooooo little! I'm on only liquids and literally STARVING half the day. this is not easy work!!

    A Little Upset

I fully agree with jen_1381 and carolina girl 1) Try not to feel discouraged that you slipped up on your diet. It's human nature to do so (i mean it!!). Just remember tomorrow is another day 2) I also weigh myself everyday. Maybe i'll stop eventually, but for now I LOVE seeing the scale go down. it gives me so much encouragement.

    I Feel So Hungry!

He just said I could eat anything that can be sipped through a straw. He didn't suggest I do so

    I Feel So Hungry!

Hey guys! I just came up with an awesome post-op meal. I woke up this morning really wanting a smoothie but didn't have the ingredients. So I mixed a blueberry yogurt with a couple of strawberries and puree'd it into a sort of mush and it's very tasty and I think pretty filling. My doc says I can eat anything that can be sipped through a straw, so as long as it's blended thoroughly i think its A-OK
  21. Hey everyone! Getting banded this Friday whooohooo!!! My concern is this: I usually eat big meals with lots of people who pig out. Pre-band I am able to enjoy the food with them and dig in along with them, but I'm so scared that after the band I will be watching them eat yum foods and i'll be sitting next to them miserably wishing that i could be eating too. Of course I have read on here that people simply don't have the appetites post-band that they had pre-band and that they don't desire as much food as before but this is something I can't seem to wrap my head around. **BTW, I'm thinking of dinners/family get togethers where we eat lots of fatty delicious foods like pepper steak, lasagna etc. What if I just simply can't stand to watch everyone wolf down food knowing that I can't?** Does anyone have insights/tips to share?

    I Feel So Hungry!

Egg drop soup is a great idea Is that dangerous for the liquid stage? It seems like it shouldnt cause any problems especially if the eggs are very thin and stringy within the soup. My doc said I can eat anything that goes up a straw; wonder if this counts

A I Love My Band Moment

Lol So funny how different everyone's body is! I cant physically tolerate not eating and I have not lost any weight so far. VERY depressing/frustrating especially since I cannot eat until friday

    Weight Loss After Surgery????

Weight loss varies so much its really hard to give a straight answer. For example, I lost 7 pounds on my preop diet, but after my friday surgery i seemed to have gained 5 pounds (!!!!!!!) Makes absolutely no sense since I have only eaten soup practically. So you see, there is no one general answer anyone can give
