"omg, You Look Great...what Are You Doing? Then You Tell Them...
Lapbandster replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is precisely why I won't tell anyone They have no clue how much work/effort goes into losing weight EVEN WITH the lapband. People think that the lapband causes the weight to magically melt off instantaneously, which as we all know is not correct. Even my family members who know about my surgery are wondering why my weight loss is so "slow" with the lapband (20 lbs in 2 months- which i think is gr8!). The less people who know the better. There is only so much negativity and false expectations I can handle without falling apart just my opinion -

Still at ~224 (no weight change) Love this thread because I can look back at my progress over the month and really see how far i've come. When I weigh myself every morning it can get extremely discouraging to BARELY see the scale move, but now I see i've lost 8 lbs and am right on track with my doctors expectations
-
first of all, you've only had the band for around three months. Losing 25 lbs in ~3 months is EXCELLENT. Not sure why your so downtrodden. My doc told me 1-2 lbs a week is the expected rate of weight loss so your right on track. If for whatever reason you were told/were under the impression that the pounds would come flying off quickly then you are mistaken. You are doing GREAT but as mis73 has advised, count calories (i use myfitnesspal.com but there are also other sites) and stick to one cup of food per meal. Keep your head up and try being patient. Its hard, I know (also frustrated by my super slow loss)

For Those Who Paid For The Lb Thru Insurance...
Lapbandster replied to futuresize8's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Went through insurance but still have to pay $3000 (max out of pocket i think) And they cover fills besides for a $30 copay -
I see that picture in my doctors office and its a helpful barometer. It just seems that everyone's green zone experience is a little different! What does the green zone feel like for you? (some say they never get hungry, others say they're full after a few bites etc...) I'm post op with no fill so i'm curious to hear everyone's different experiences

Thanks Marfar7! Love the insights! Do you ever miss the "thanksgiving full" feeling?

Wow you lost nearly 100 lbs! nice! How long did it take you? I like that u never counted or measured anything, its refreshing to hear. What does your green zone feel like?

Need Advice On Finding A New Band Doc
Lapbandster replied to OldMomOf3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Google hospitals in your area and see which ones have a bariatric team affiliated with them. Then call them and ask if they'll take on new patients. I'm sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your original docs -
In the same boat as you (no fills and no restriction) Just hang in there! If your hungry dont deprive yourself-eat! But in moderation. Go with low carb, try to stick to around 1000 calories a day. Eat Protein based foods The weight will come off! you'll see!

What Can Of Snacker Are You?
Lapbandster replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly I was never much of a big snacker. I HATE eating in front of people and usually i'm around others. My issue was volume eating in private. When no one was around I would stuff myself silly I'm so ashamed -
Weighed in at ~224 today! 1 pound below monthly goal and down about 8 lbs so far this month!

whoa! thats amazing! Any tips for us beginners? Did you have any bumps along the way?

Tonight I Wish I Didn't Have The Band
Lapbandster replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thats great! Glad to hear! -
Really doubt you "ruined" your band or stretched your pouch. You really have no restriction without a fill so the little restriction you may have felt in the beginning was just post-op swelling which most people feel. The begining is very hard, which is why it's called "bandster hell" we're told to eat like we have restriction when we don't have any. It's rough, i know, (going through it right now) but you must stick to one cup of protein based food at a time. Do NOT overeat and then expect to throw it up if it's too much. Thats just nuts

Great thread! Sasha, i'm giving you virtual hugs, and kicking your coworker in the shins I like the 80/20 rule. It makes sense and also makes me realize that NO ONE is expected to be perfect 100% of the time
