Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
Lapbandster replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Haha i'm not brave for getting on the scale- it just shows I have no self control- I'm only supposed to weigh myself 1x per week, and I wind up checking my weight 2x per day. Terrible, I know. All this scale talk reminds me of a joke: A guy forgets his wife's bday so she gets all huffy and says "we're through unless tomorrow morning there is something in the driveway that goes 0-180 in 7.2 seconds"!! (obviously she meant a sports car) The next morning she looks out the window and see's a small box in the driveway with a bow. She unwraps it and lo and behold: It's a scale!! -

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
Lapbandster replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just finished logging my foods for today, day #3, low carb day: 800 calories 30g of carbs 45g of fat 75g of protein Hope I did ok for today! Thanks Again Missy for this diet idea, i think it's really working!! -
I can't stomach protein shakes, but protein in general does fill me up. As a snack/breakfast I eat lowfat string cheese. It's only 60 calories and has 15g of protein=very satisfying for me!! In the mornings sometimes i'll have 2 at a time

Cool pie chart! And awesome breakdown of fat percentages! Does this come with the lose it app? -
I'm sorry if that came off mean!! That wasn't my intent!! Promise!!! I know all too well about how much plateau's can be discouraging but just try to remember how far you've come. Also there is a great thread about carb cycling on here. People have reported success in breaking out of their plateau by doing this. Good luck!

Sorry for the dumb question, but percentage of what?? -
you lost 28 lbs in two months and your frustrated?? Did your doc tell you that a plateau (which may suck) is a NORMAL part of losing weight??
-
Once you get a specific amount of calories allotted to you daily from your nutritionist, then go ahead and use myfitnesspal.com or lose it! and get cracking on tracking your caloric intake you should be aware that you may need a fill as for working out, if you get clearance from your doc to hit the gym you gotta go at least 3x per week. No excuses

Good point about the fat, I never really keep tabs on that. Thanks for the heads up! How many grams of fat per day do you aim for? Hope all goes well with your birth control!! -
Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
Lapbandster replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a great thread and I love everyone's candidness This morning I PB'd a little bit after eating bread too fast. It was rough and felt lousy but then I remembered how far i've come so far (30 lbs in 3 months) and realize how GOOD this band has been for me. Maybe I won't always feel this way, but for now, 3 months out i'm lovin it -
I used to be like that, but since my surgery I have been going 3-4 times per week religiously. It's hard, I know but try making a set time to go and stick with it.... On the days that I can't make it to the gym I try to be active in other ways, like taking the stairs vs the elevator or parking far away from the door of the supermarket etc. They say that once you go to the gym routinely for long enough you get to a point where if you DON'T go you feel lousy. I can't wait to get there lol

+1 to everything Missy has explained Even if the band is there, AND has a small fill from the surgery, the restriction may not be noticeable yet

Thanks guys! You are so sweet and encouraging! Today I got a little crazy and ate as follows: 1200 cals (don't know how i let that happen ... I try to stay closer to 1000 ) 147g of carbs. Was tough (never thought i'd say that!) but I ate a clif bar for lunch which supplied me with 30g of carbs. I'm not a fan of clif bars because they're 270 calories/bar (!!!!!) but I figured it would be good to get more carbs in.... 86g of Protein Onwards to no-carb day!!!! -
Myfitnesspal Calorie And Carb Suggesstions, Huh?
Lapbandster replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also find that their recommendations seem too high for me. I just try to stay low cals and high protein on my own. BTW, once I lost some weight it "reassessed" me and allotted me less calories per day. Still seems high but I play by my own rules -

Thanks!! Today hasn't gone as well.... I made for breakfast a morningstar garden veggie patty on whole wheat toasted bread and i guess i ate too fast/had morning tightness/am not used to eating bread (or a combination of all of the above) and it made me sick and I pb'd a little bit I guess i'll try making better choices for lunch and beyond! -

I'm on day #2 and so far I have been trying to follow it as best as possible! So far I have had 38g of carbs and don't want to eat any more for the rest of the day. Any ideas of some ultra low/no carb dinners? -
