Have you been losing weight? Maybe if you ost some weight, you also lost some fat padding around your esophagus and now your band loosened. -

Overwhelming feeling of fear of failure
Lapbandster replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone! I have lost 50 lbs and have been banded for 5+ months and STILL worry if I will be a failure or not Will I reach my goal? Will I keep the weight off? Will I lose track of my exercise regime? I worry all the time -
Nope I never had to crush pills

What do you like best about this site?
Lapbandster replied to LuuLuu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love this site because I never met anyone who has had the band. (gastric bypass and sleeve, yes. Not Lapband) Coming here makes me feel like people understand me and I can relate with other people's issues I have considered going to my doctors office's monthly support group but its about an hour's drive from me and a huge hassle. Coming here helps me feel a connection to others in the same boat as me -
To Band or Not to Band.........That is the question!
Lapbandster replied to Bimmerboy76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! I knew that each surgery had bad potential outcome but 1) I felt I COULD NOT LOSE THE WEIGHT ANY OTHER WAY. I honestly felt SO hopeless knowing I had 100+ lbs to lose 2) i felt that the lapband as opposed to the other surgeries was less scary/invasive But yes, every surgery can go horribly wrong and have complications. It's just about making sure the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks before making the decision to proceed with WLS -
Was stuck but still having trouble with liquids
Lapbandster replied to Pink8671's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Call your doctor, as you may need a slight unfill. Just try to relax and take it easy (tension makes the band more aggravated) Personally I would try warm Water before ice water if you wanna try getting fluids down. Feel better! -
I think I have the stomach bug
Lapbandster replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you must eat (because youre starving or feel weak) then stick to the BRATT diet: Bananas Rice Applesauce Tea Toast I am no doctor, so please don't take this is medical advise, but this is what people tell me to eat when i'm nauseous -
My surgeon has absolutely no issues with me drinking carbonation, so I do drink soda from time to time. I can tell ya that you will certainly feel gassier and burpier drinking carbonation after the band!

To Band or Not to Band.........That is the question!
Lapbandster replied to Bimmerboy76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Somehow, I'm skeptical of anyone that followed ALL the rules and still didn't lose a pound! I guess it's technically possible, but c'mon.... That takes talent! -

To Band or Not to Band.........That is the question!
Lapbandster replied to Bimmerboy76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose the lapband because it is adjustable and reversable (if needed). Of course theres a chance that things will go drasticly wrong, but remember, your band can be adjusted if that's the case. If something goes wrong with the sleeve then oh boy, you're in trouble because your stomach will NEVER be the same. I hear that the weight loss with Gastric Bypass and the Sleeve comes off faster, but to me, I don't mind having slow loss and putting in a lot of effort on my part. I just want the safest surgery that will give me my desired results I was also very torn about what surgery to do, but after reading some horror stories on verticalsleevetalk (a sister site to lbt) I was convinced NOT to do the sleeve. Yes, both surgeries have complications, but the lap band complications were ports flipping, leaks in bands, and once in a while an eroded band. On the VSG website the complications sounded SO scary. One person wrote that her mom got sicker and sicker from the surgery, needed to have multiple surgeries and stents put in, and eventually they had to detach her whole stomach from her esaphagous and she will need at least 3 months to recuperate. Maybe I'm just a wus, or a baby, but these things just terrify me Oh, and one more thing: My doctor explained to me that many bariatric surgeons will dissuade patients from Lap band: because with LB they must devote time with fills/adjustments/longer periods of aftercare and support. The big money maker is in the operating room and NOT the fill visits. When they do a sleeve surgery, they have a consult appointment, the surgery, a post op appointment and then never have to see you again, leaving them more time to be in the operating room Also (not sure why) but insurance pays out 2.5 times for sleeve/bypass than they pay for Lap band surgeries. I know this sounds absolutely absurd. I wouldn't believe it except I heard it from my doctor himself I honestly do NOT believe that doctors are money hungry or evil, but when it comes to simple dollars and cents they may inadvertently steer you to what is convenient for them. They're human too! -

Lapbandster replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys!! yah I gotta tell her but it's gonna be tough since she is super-sensitive UGH When I broke up with my bf a few months ago she surprised me the next morning with Breakfast in bed. She sat on my bed and started talking to me which made me SO uncomfortable and the smell was absolutely wretched. Everytime i tried looking away from her she said "stop being so ashamed of being single and LOOK ME IN THE FACE WHEN I TALK TO YOU, there is nothing to be ashamed of..." So I had to face her mouth while she yapped at me for like an hour about how much stronger I am now... blah blah... OMG guys I thought I was gonna die right then and there :o -
