Ahhh!!! Good for you!!! This is so exciting!!!!! -
What did you tell you family/friends?
Lapbandster replied to charlibell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months out and have told no one besides for my mom and 3 sisters. I don't need anyone giving me a hard time. Most people do not understand what this surgery is all about and are just not accepting.... I am glad everyday that I made this choice -
anyone have their band tighten on their own?
Lapbandster replied to I love lucy lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, when I travelled overseas to Europe on a 9.5 hour flight my band tightened. Thank goodness it was a drop loose before I left so the tightness didn't bother me while I was away. It's also tighter (for me at least) in cold weather and when I'm stressed -
Like the above posters said, it's totally normal for weight to fluctuate a little My advice to you is to only weigh yourself once a week, as opposed to every day. It becomes torturous to keep seeing the scale go up and down like a seesaw. It sounds to me like your doing great! Don't worry if you gain a little but, your body is still adjusting. If your doc gives you a hard time then just give him a kick where it hurts

anyone here did/is doing the couch to 5k program?
Lapbandster replied to Lapbandster's topic in Fitness & Exercise
What do you mean by low 14's? I did day 3 of my first week and next sunday i'm onto week two! Running for 60 seconds wasn't too bad in the begining but towards the end I was feeling pooped. I really don't think i can do this, but then again I never thought I could lose 50 lbs either lol -
Some People Are Just Waiting for Your Downfall!!
Lapbandster replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh So true! all my morbidly obese friends are salivating for me to give up and rejoin their "fat club" Can't stand it -
He Probably won't do the plication because insurance doesn't cover it (application is still a fairly new procedure so some insurances won't cover it) This was the reason why I didn't do plication

4wks tdy & Doing terrible w/ eating
Lapbandster replied to terr9952's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) either you are over filled and you should call your doc asap for an unfill 2) or you are not eating like a bandster should. Don't worry you are not alone. Many of us have struggled in the beginning, so here are some tips 1) weigh your food and don't eat more than a cupfull per meal (or whatever amount your doc advises) 2) from now on only eat on small plates-that way it wont by feel like your eating tiny portions that don't even fill up a plate 3) until you're used to eating like a bandster do not eat with friends or while your otherwise distracted (like watching tv or doing work) This will help keep you focused on chewing and taking small bites 4) just relax!! It will take some time in the beginning to learn what you can and cannot tolerate -

Is anyone finding they are exhausted after exercising?
Lapbandster replied to Giovy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you'll feel better in another few weeks of routinely exercising -
Is anyone finding they are exhausted after exercising?
Lapbandster replied to Giovy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's weird for me, sometimes I fee in exhausted and sometimes I feel really energized. Usually if I'm tired a cool shower helps wake me Are you just starting your gym routine? Because maybe once you get used to it you'll stop feeling so exhausted -
To all ye successful bandsters
Lapbandster replied to brannewmee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The best advice I can give you besides for what Missy and Chez have said is to remember that the band is not MAGIC Many uneducated people think that it's a miracle cure for obesity Is it useful? Sure Helpful? You bet! But it's certainly not magical -
I totally understand where you're coming from. I have had a really tough past 3 weeks and havn't lost an ounce. It's beyond frustrating!

Wow! Glad you found a surgeon this supportive! -
Wow I can't wait to be in a place where I forget to eat! Not at the green zone yet

Will be interested to know what tips you all have.
Lapbandster replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Missy, I couldn't have said it better myself If I eat slowly enough and stop when i'm satisfied I don't run into problems. For instance, just this week I tried out a new place with a freind and got a beef sandwich. I am trying to carb cycle and was on a low carb day. I ate the sliced beef without the bread and had a small amount of the cole slaw on the side. I had no issues pushing away the bread. If I would've tried to eat it I doubt it would have went down easily. I did not feel deprived or unsatisfied -
Anyone else losing weight very slowly or not at all like me?
Lapbandster replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your losing rate at a fine pace, although I totally understand why it feels like its coming off slowly. I have lost 50 lbs in 6 months and it seems like SO LITTLE! But truthfully, it really to helps to look back at how far you've come rather than looking ahead at how far you are from your goal -
Yes you will

Social Stigma and Full Disclosure
Lapbandster replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not, and do not intend to tell anyone out of my immediate family Not because I'm ashamed, but because most people don't understand even the basics of the lap bad surgery, or how hard it is to diet + be obese -
friend who has had wls now has the most repugnant breath. its unbearable!!
Lapbandster posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About a year ago a friend of mine had gastric bypass. She lost some weight and is doing well except for one issue: her breath Guys its so bad that I can't even go with her into a car with the windows shut (in the cold winter) because there is no circulation of fresh air from her foul breath When she comes near me to speak I have to bow my head downwards and turn away so I'm not facing her mouth. Its really insane... I tried joking with her hoping she'd get the point by saying "oh boy what a smell! did you just eat a skunk for lunch or something?" But she just laughs and doesn't take me seriously... The smell is so horrific that lately when she talks to me I have to either dash out and promise to call her later, or turn my back to her pretending to look for something behind me. Is this a byproduct of her bypass surgery?? I don't recall it ever being like this Any suggestions on how to deal with this? -
People can be SO RUDE I'm sorry you have to deal with these questions Some of my family members used to ask me multiple times daily how I was doing/how much weight I was losing. After A while I snapped and told them that when I have success's to report i'll let them know. until then leave me alone! I stayed true to my word and when the scale moves I let them know... In the meantime they don't bother me
