  1. So if you were 225 pounds it would be ok? WTF!!! You are doing it to NOT get to a bmi of 40 or more. I have been lucky all the doctors that I have seen (mostly ones my surgeon referred me to) have been very supportive of my decision and they all think its great that we are being proactive.

    Food Funeral

LMAO that reminds me couple weeks ago I went to the "Last Chinese Buffet" meal at my favorite place. When I left I was pissed $100 later and it wasn't as good as I remembered it to be! Then as I was angry driving home & it dawned on me...IF it had been sooooooo delicious and worth every penny...I would have dreamt and missed that meal for the rest of my life. So I was grateful it was like breaking up with a bad boyfriend lol no turning back. Now tomorrow I am on my pre-op diet 26 days before my surgery because my doctor wants to see the scale move. I left the office and I was sad....now that I pondered on it some more....I am grateful that he is putting my ass in motion! No choice and no turning back. Everyday as I am having those Protein shakes I am just going to keep telling myself ..."this is the last diet I will ever be on".

Thanks for the input I really want one...can't wait to get it. I didn't know that best buy sold them, that's even better. I think its a great tool to be able to see if you achieving calorie deficit and its more affordable then the BodyBugg. With the BodyBugg you have to pay for the online tools. Did you pay $100? Just curious if best buy offers a better deal. I have to buy 2 so I am looking for a bargain. BTW Happy Birthday!

    Food Funeral

I have gained 6 pounds since my consult last month OMG Then I mentioned having "last supper syndrome" to my surgeon today and my big fat mouth got me in trouble. My doctor is making us start our pre-op diet starts tomorrow and we (husband and I) have to go back next Wednesday to prove we are losing weight. At first I was annoyed but being the heavist I ever been (260lbs!) I guess I needed a little b*tch slapping lol. Just shakes up to 800 calories. Nice dinner for us tonight and happily starting my "LAST" diet tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    Post Surgery "Must haves"??

Since you mentioned waterbottle I LOVE the Thermos Intak Poly bottle. I got it at Target for $10 I bring it with everywhere. Holds 24oz and you can keep track of how many times you filled it up. I have to say my Water intake has increased. The best part it does not leak. I like to add MiO to the water soooooo good. That's how I quit Diet Soda. Also love the MyoFusion powder Protein from GNC so far I like chocolate better than vanilla. Of course I blend in the blender ball cup also at GNC. You can make Protein shakes anywhere. Since I am pre-op that's the info I have but thanks for this thread because I am already starting my list for surgery and post-op.
  15. They probably don't really understand anything about this procedure. They are probably familiar with the gastric bypass when it was not done laproscoptically. Heck sometimes I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that I am putting a band around my stomach to lose weight. I really didn't tell many people because I don't want to hear negative remarks. I definitely don't need any food police after the procedure anyway. My new motto: "What other people think of us, is none of our business". Paolo Coelho Out of the 4 people I told the one naysayer (my mom), I told her ...next year you will be telling me that its the best thing I ever did for myself. Good Luck on your journey & look for inspirational friends along the way.

    Exercise and hair coloring

Yes I think so but if your hair grows in fast your roots will show but the color will stay on the dyed grays. I like it! I actually started buying the gray magic because it last a long time and its not that much more $. I get it at my local beauty supply but I actually bought it once on ebay.
  17. That is what I loved about him too. He is not quick just to the surgeries. You can tell he wants to do it right. My husband wanted the sleeve and because he is a smoker he will not do the sleeve on him!!! I never really wanted to cut my stomach out or my husband to, so for me I was happy I am not sure if it will work well for your sister, ask him about it. Not too late to change. For me I was not comfortable with it until I came on here. Many people have it. Also from what I read it is reversible. Again I have to talk to him about it wednesday. For what I understand with the plication less fills needed! My husband and I are both schedule 2 weeks apart and I want to change to 1 week. I wanted to do it the same day but we have 2 kids (5&8) and we need each other to help around the house after surgery. It seems so far away but I know its going to come very quickly. BTW the only other thing I paid for was the co-pays and the pschy which was $175 which I hear (on here) that its pretty cheap and our nutionist is included.
  18. Yep me too I have been on here since I decided to get banded. Boy did I wish I did this at 22 but better late than never! The band with plication makes sense that it would be better long term. You feel restriction right away without fills and if you ever plateau you can get the fills with the lapand. No more waiting for the "green zone". That is when you fill is perfect and you lose weight steadily. Its new but many on here have it. Its called iBand I even seen iLap, search it and you will get more info. It is very new so its considered investigational meaning he has to keep data on patients with to see the long term effects of the surgery. From what I read less chance of slippage too. I love that he is not quick to just do things without really looking into all the information. He wanted to make sure that there is a revision surgery for it just in case and from what I read its reversible. I will ask him more on Wednesday. Also it is reported that you can lose as fast as someone with the gastric sleeve! How did you find out about Dr. V? My husband was going to do the surgery in 2008. I talked him out of it and now here we are. His doctor referred him to Dr. V and I really like him and have only heard great things about him. Well I may try to go to a support group too maybe I will try for 12/8. As far as plastic surgery, I learned about it here! If you have surgery to lose weight and the skin causes infections they will pay to have it removed! That is with most insurances. Of course if I can avoid surgery I will ....so off to my gym I will go to tighten up!
  19. Exciting to meet another Dr. Vohra December Bandster!!! :)

  20. PS If you have any info on Dr. Vohra please let me know.
  21. OMG I am getting banded by Dr. Vohra and I have GHI 12/19 and my husband 12/5. Although I want to move it up to 12/12 if possible. Will know more after Wednesday which is my second appointment with him. I will be done with my pre-op stuff by Tuesday YEAH! I also may do the new plication with lap-band procedure. Here is a video I found about it 1- Gail (office manager) told me I am only responsible for my deductible Mine is $300 but most GHI is $200 if you already met that for the year then you paid NOTHING. I was also told that all appointments for 3 months after the surgery is covered as post opt with your insurance. So no more deductibles for us until April. 2- I would like the answer to that too 3- I hear if flabby skin cause rashes GHI will pay for remove it YEAH! 4- My new motto "What people think about us, is none of our business"- by Paolo Coelho I only told my parents, husband and 2 friends. No one at work will know. I don't no negative remarks or food police comments, so the less people know the better. 5- I am originally from NYC but now in Long Island. I do plan on attending support groups held at South Nassau to meet some new banded friends (there is one 11-16) I am always looking for some inspirational friends. I will friend here now cause I would love to keep in contact with people getting banded around the same time. Also check out the December Bandsters thread. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Facebook?

Sorry if the post is crazy I am on my iPad... Iam about to join a private Facebook group with another december bandster. All you have to do is request access. The person running it will have to know your name just so she/he knows who you are. It's private/secret and it has it's own wall. So no comments on your wall or friend access to your profile. When I get the info...I will In box you. I was going to start one myself but since I was already invited, it would be good to keep it that way so there is a larger group. I suggested she open the invitation in the December bandster thread. BTW there is also a Lapband talk group that is private that I just requested access to. We will see ifi get it, there is 97 pwoplethatbelong to it.
