    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm with you Pink_140! I have a few errands to run tomorrow (post-op Rx to pick up, some clear liquids stuff to buy from Target) and then I'm heading for the surgeon Monday morning at 7:15am!! By noon on Monday I should be sleeved!! I'm at the point I just want it done so I can get through the first two weeks post-op!
  3. This is my worry... I'm so not a protein eater!! I've got two weeks to come to grip with that! congrats on your amazing loss! so nice to be able to heartily congratulate someone for loosing something for a change!

    I'm In The Hospital

I'm so glad to see you posting peacequeen. I've been thinking about you. How on earth could you have come in contact with ecoli? I'll be looking for your continued posts and praying for your improvement!

    Yay Got A Date!

Congrats! Doesn't it feel great to have that confirmed? I went in Thursday for my final pre-op appointments. I had to have an ekg, which I confused with a stress test! The nurses looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if it was ok for me to wear my little flat shoes for the test! I can't believe it's 46 hours away for me!!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Hey Michelle- how are you doing a few days out? Let us know!!
  7. Wow, you're brave! I've gone into surgery on my own before, but I've never had to take care of myself by myself after. How long will you stay in Mexico after your surgery? I've heard others compare this to a c-section on healing and I was able to drive myself a week after my c-section but someone drove me home from the hospital. If this is your only option just be really careful driving back up north and take lots of breaks to rest- even over night if you have to. Stop over in Castaic or Valencia.

    Got My Date!

I only have to do one day of liquids and that's TOMORROW!! I'm scheduled for Monday morning at 10:30am! Can't wait!! My surgeon is super strict about only liquids for the first two weeks and he doesn't want people pushing protein shakes either. They all have their own plan... I can't wait - well, I can't wait to be about two weeks out! =)

    January 30th Surgery Date

Congrats! I go in Monday at 8:30am!
  10. I've told a few close friends, the lady who waxes my legs and family. I haven't told work- they think I'm having some GI "issues" fixed.
  11. Good to hear you're past your surgery! Hope the pain lessens soon.

    Sooo Frustrated

Did you receive an approval letter from BC? I have BCBS PPO and I've received two letters, one for the surgery approval and another for the hospital approval. For some reason the hospital approval came about two weeks after the initial approval letter. If you've received similar letters, I wonder if they'd scheduled you with your copy of the letter? Just a thought.
  13. So glad to hear it went well for you! Good luck with a speedy recovery!

    Waiting Game! Ahhhhhh!

Good luck! I'm headed in for pre-op tomorrow. My first real appointment with the surgeon was back in September and I didn't get my official approval until early December. It takes a while but I can't wait to have my surgery complete. I go in Monday morning at 8:30am and surgery is set for 10:30!

    Double Ear Infection

Thanks! It seems to have turned a corner over last night. I still have the "plugged ears" sensation but it doesn't hurt when I put my head down any more. I talked to my insurance case nurse too and she said the same- as long as I wasn't experiencing any fever or worsening symptoms I'd be fine to go ahead.
  16. I came down with a double ear infection over the holidays (probably the after effects of a cold earlier in December) but I called the surgeon's office today and let them know about it and they said as long as I wasn't experiencing any fever I was ok to stick to my surgery date. I'll be finishing up a 10-day run of antibiotics the day before surgery but I guess that's ok. I'm glad not to have to put off surgery but a little worried at the same time.
  17. I have several beautiful dresses, most linen that I'm super excited at the thought of wearing again. I also have an adorable pair of BCBG sandals that look like barbie shoes I'll be happy to wear again, I also look forward to going into a store like Anne Taylor and having things fit my thighs. Not that I want to buy the clothes there, but I want them to fit! =)
  18. Good luck!! I hope it all goes perfectly for you!

    Approved!

Congratulations. It's such a great feeling to know you're closer!
  20. I'm still on for January 9! I can barely stand it I'm so excited.

    Cant Have Surgery ;'(

I have an 80/20 plan (I pay 20% after insurance adjustments) and an out of pocket max of $3000 so it'll cost me 3k. I have a health care reimbursement plan option (FSA) through work that I always use so I'll pay for it that way. At least it's pre-tax!

    Two Months Postop Pics

    Wow- that's so great!! Congrats!
  23. I'm sure the pendulum will swing back to "what the heck am I doing to myself" over the next 11 days but here and now I just wish I could fast forward a week and my pre-op appointment was tomorrow, not a week from tomorrow!! Let's get a move on!!

    It's About That Time...

Hope it all went perfectly for you!!
  25. I never worried about myself much until I became a mom. Now I worry about things that never occurred to me before! 1. Yes it is. I've already committed the money to it because I had to set up my FSA back in November and I can't wait to go on vacation with my son and put on a swim suit in public, FIT into rides with him at amusement parks, KEEP UP with him when he runs about! 2. I've been on a diet since I was 9 years old. My mom had GBS back in the mid 1980's and I SWORE I'd never weight more than 150lbs so I'd never have to go through that (I now weigh 260 or so). My PCP gives me the "calorie in & calorie out" talk all the time and I believe that and yet it has never worked for me... Lordy I hope this does! 3. I've got to go in for labs a few days before surgery and if you have a fever within 24 hours of surgery or they find something in labs I think they'll postpone. 4. Me TOO... I'm going to try to learn to like cleaning or at least learn to do it to keep busy. 5. The hair... I lost quite a bit when my son was born and I don't think its all come back. Mine does grow but I sort-of wonder what will happen when I start actively taking in Protein... I'm not such a protein eater on my own. I'm hopeful the increased protein intake will help in the long run. Good luck deciding... I had surgery on my hip and I remember walking myself down to surgery and every door I passed was like a beacon tempting me to run like mad the other direction. I just had to keep weighing the pros and cons and made the best decision for myself in the long run.
