Has anyone heard from Atakin Jay (might not have the name right!)??
  2. I only saw him once and it was for about 2.5 hours total- 1hr to fill out a Q&A thing and then 1.5hrs with him. Good luck!

    Scar Remedies?

It does seem like Mederma is mostly vitamin E. I bought some for my son when he split his forhead open on a door but I don't think it's all it's cut up to be.
  8. 1 week clear 1 week full liquid (no milk products though - even yougurt unless it was a drink which all have too much sugar) 2 weeks mushies (upgraded to lactose free milk and yogurt but no meats - just hard boiled eggs) Week 5?? don't know... will find out tomorrow!
  9. My week three has been real slow too but I realized it was the week leading up to my cycle and I'd dropped again this morning a little. I wonder what my week four food list will be? my surgeon seems to be on the cautious side.

    Did I Make A Mistake?

Did your surgeon give you perscriptions for meds for these things? I came home with meds for all three. I've only needed the nausea meds once and stopped the pain meds pretty quick. They have me on omperozole (something like that) every day for the first month. I've read many people post that the heartburn meds took care of many symptoms for you. Hope you feel better soon!! It gets better every day!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Tif 2.0 - it was several days before I had a BM. I had surgery on a Monday and I think it was Thursday or Friday, but I know it was by Friday. Then it was every 2-4 days but just a tiny bit. When I moved to pureed soups it was about the same frequency but a little more and on soft foods it's 2-3 days and again, a little more.
  13. Its hard for me to determine what was my surgeon's required info and what was my insurance. I didn't have to do any supervised diet for my insurance but I did have to do a written account for my dieting history for the surgeon's office. I started dieting at 9 so it was a lot to try and remember!
  14. Isn't it always the way we don't want it to go? If I'm going to have to loose hair, darn it- why can't it come off my legs & underarms too? My hair is already thin- I don't think it all came back after my son was born and I'm dreading the post-of hair loss. I think it started around the third month after my baby so end of March, beginning of April. It fell out for at least three if not four months. I have lots of very light blonde fuzz on my face that I've had since I was a kid. It doesn't bother me much but the occasional long one or dark one under my chin is for the birds! Have any of you tried threading for facial hair? I've had my eyebrows done that way because its less stress on the skin than waxing. I'm a dedicated leg waxer for almost 20 years.

    Help

I've been overweight since I was in the second grade. I sort of thinned down a little in high school but was always a little too big. I fought through my 20s and had massive hip surgery at 29. I started gaining then and just never got control back. I was about 250 when I got pregnant with my son and after his birth got down as low as 240 but had a rough time at work last year and ended up pushing 270. I started to actively work toward WLS in summer 2010 but my PCP derailed me and put me on Wellbutrin which helped for about three months. I got back on track in summer 2011 and had my surgery earlier this month. My mom had WLS and she has been super supportive. I've only told close friends and all but one have been totally supportive. There are risks with any surgery but good surgeons screen you very carefully before surgery to make sure you don't have any health issues to make surgery riskier. My son was a big motivating factor for me to have this surgery. He's just three and I can barely keep up with him and forget about catching him! Running when you've got fat bouncing all over the place is just misery. We're taking him to Disneyland at the end of February and I'd really like to be able to keep up with him better than before. Having elective surgery is a scary thing to contemplate especially if you are a parent (glad to hear your daughter is doing ok) so you have many things to weigh and decide. For me, I knew WLS was my only hope and I'm so glad for the sleeve. I think I delayed looking into surgery as long as I did because I didn't like the bypass part of GBS so the minute I heard about the sleeve I knew that was the surgery for me. Good luck with your decision. You will do what is right for you.
  18. I head to the hospital Monday morning at 7:15am! Surgery should be around 10:30am. I feel very calm in many ways but I'm anxious too if that makes any sense. I'm totally committed to this and to life after but I came home from my final pre-op appointments yesterday wanting tastes of this and that- like I baked a sweet potato to eat tomorrow as my last meal... bizarre. Anyone else Monday? I can't get into the January 2012 sleevers forum to post there...

    Monday!

good luck rahnava and Kilroy! you'll do great!! good luck for a speedy recovery!
  20. I started feeling hungry or craving things on the Saturday after my Monday surgery. Usually it was when I was around cooking food or others eating. I think it could have been half mental but it was some feeling I didn't like whatever it was! I did find strained progresso soups to be more satisfying. Good luck!
  21. yes to the Fluid gain. I put on mute than 10lbs and my IV hand was puffy for several days at home. curvy diva- you and I are on similar paths! I was sleeved on the 9th and am down 25lbs. I'm stalled too but I know from reading here it's just a stall. I'd love to see the scale move but I'm not freaking yet!

    4 Days Post Op....

congratulations on your surgery! best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  23. oh yeah! my IV hand was so puffy but it comes off quick. don't worry!
  24. My surgeon isn't a protein drink fan so I haven't really used them since surgery. I picked up an Odowalla single-serving Protein Monster with 25g of protein thinking that would be ok. It's LOADED with sugar and is not making me happy! Ick.
  25. I know this is TMI but I'm now dealing with the morning after of all that sugar and seriously, worst I've felt since surgery! Sugar is EVIL!
