  1. I too had blood thinner shots in my stomach in the hospital but none to go home with.
  2. I'm 4 weeks, 2 days out and down 31. I did have a stall in week three but also had my period that week, so who knows?
  3. It was about day 5 for me too and I was on perscription heartburn meds so it wasn't acid for me! It was finally being around other eating and seeing/smelling food. I was sleeved on a Monday and by Saturday I was ready for something more than liquids. I upped my consumption of strained soups mixed with broth when this started for me. It was kind-of a head trip to strain out and dispose of all the solids from a $2 can of soup, but it was so much more satisfying than just broth and was a recommendation from my surgeon. The full liquids will help- split pea soup and campbles V8 makes some good soups in green boxes- I liked the broccoli soup. Good luck! It'll be past soon!

    Liquids And Meals

I'm dealing with this right now! I'm eating my deli style sliced chicken and it's salty and I'm trying so hard not to drink my iced tea (decaf!) with it. The foods that expand with Water (breads esp), you won't be eating much of for a good long while!
  5. Thanks for the reply! I really think I only had a tiny bit and less than yesterday. There's no way I even got to 1/4 cup either time. I might have needed to chew a little more but it was pretty soft... I'll just stick to lunch meat! It's hard to get good fresh fish where I live unless you buy a huge slab at Costco...

    January 2012 Sleevers!

AJ - I had a 6 day or so stall between the end of week two and the middle of week 3. I think it's pretty common but if you're exercising it could also be the loosing inches not pounds issue. I seemed to drop about 4lbs over night and then started plodding down again. VSG Ready- I found some Camples V8 soups in green boxes at Target that have a pretty good broccoli soup. I also found I liked split pea soup- just watch out for the ones with chunks of ham or pork which aren't so good for a new sleeve I'd think. I also enjoyed strained progresso soups that I'd add some beef, veggie, or chicken broth to up the volume. Trader Joes has a good sweet potato soup and a good butternut squash soup (I found the organic butternut squash soup vastly better) in boxes if you have access to a Trader Joes. Last night I made some soup out of roasted asparagus, tofu and chicken broth. I just roasted a pound of asparagus in the oven with some olive oil and spices/salt, then blended it with a box of morinu extra firm tofu and added a can of chicken broth. Probably could have been 2lbs of asparagus to the whole box of tofu but the end result was quite tasty. I'm four weeks out yesterday and I'm down 30lbs. I need to step up my exercise because I'm probably only doing my real walking every other day...
  7. that would totally freak me out... the idea of anyone picking me up is just "freak out" territory. Even when I weighed much less and was salsa dancing regularly I didn't like being dipped because I always wanted to be fully supporting my own weight! but good for you! If someone ever calls me skinny I think I'll have heart failure! =)
  8. So, so fantastic! Congratulations on such an amazing payout for all your hard work!
  9. Oh I'm so glad I found this! This is my first week of solids and yesterday I had water-packed tuna and just couldn't eat any more than a few bites because it tasted so awful! I've been spoiled eating really good canned tuna packed in olive oil too long. So today, I tried the oil packed tuna with lemon and after maybe 1/4 cup or even less I started to get this bubbling up feeling. I finally went to the bathroom and knew I needed to throw up but when I did it was just this sort of thick foam - none of the actual food! EEEEWWWWW! This is a first - and hopefully a last! Given that I ate water-packed tuna yesterday with no problem and the oil-packed foamed up, it's probably the oil, right? I drained most of the oil off and put quite a bit of lemon juice in it!

I Wish Someone Had Told Me....

I did not wake up with a tube. Ask your surgeon about tubes and drains up front so you know going in. Everything varies from surgeon to surgeon from tubes & drains to post-op diet. I wish someone told me not to stock up on as much stuff as I did. I have too many popsicles & Jello for sure. I felt like I was going to be in each stage forever and bought too much stuff.
  11. I'd have to drive an hour to my surgeon's support group. I thought about going once prior to surgery but it was the day before Thanksgiving and I got too busy. To attend, I either take time off work to go or have to go at night which involves childcare and I'm a single mom. I do use this board in place of a meeting environment for sure!

Nsv - I Fit In My Bathtub!

awesome!! I can't wait to see if my bathtub feels big enough once I'm not too big!! My big moment recently was putting on a pair of underwear that I hadn't been wearing much because any time I'd move they'd roll down under my gut... they don't roll down any more!! Love it!!
  13. big hugs emelefe! I had a full week of Clear liquids (no Protein shakes) and the thing I found to be most appealing were strained progresso Soups. There are several I really like and they are sooo much better than plain broth. I would add a little beef broth or chicken broth to them too. These really saved me because plain broth was just not at all appealing. I don't like drinking sweet things either so I totally feel your pain. I still have most of a case of Vitamin Water Zero that I bought pre-op as well as enough popsicles to get me through summer. Today is my first day of real food so coming off four weeks of clear liquids to full liquids to mushy foods (very limited) I get that it feels like forever!

    The Bariatric "food" Card

My surgeon gave me a card either at my preop appt or the first postoperative. Can't remember which it was.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I'm soooo tired of the mushy stage! I only have one more day and then I can add some normal food. So far the only things that haven't gone straight through with no full feeling are thicker refried beans, cottage cheese and egg salad. If the beans are thinned then I can eat way more than 1/3 cup. My surgeon's PA is not happy about me ever eating more than 1/3 cup. My problem is getting at all excited about eating 1/3 cup. I hope I feel different next week when the food list expands. This is still the best thing I've done for myself just about ever. I'm just ready for the next stage.
  18. Reglan is used for a few things, including increasing milk production. I used it for that (didn't help me much).

    Loving My Sleeve

I'm so grateful for my sleeve! Best decision I made for myself other than deciding to become a mom!

    Wastefulness

In my first weeks I was straining a lot of progresso soups and throwing out the chunky part. That was hard... I'm still spending so much less on groceries its crazy.
  21. Woo-hoo!! Way to go girl! I had my second post-op follow up and I'm down 27lbs! I pulled on pants that were tight earlier in January and they're ROOMY!! I get to begin to dabble in some real food next week. I totally got the evil eye for drinking protein drinks. My surgeon is all anti protein drinks. I got a little print out and I've lost 20.5% of my excess weight! Unbelievable...
