  1. Hello everyone. I am soooo exicted today. One of the main reasons for me deciding to go through with this surgery in the first place were my health issues. A bit of history; My Mother passed away in 2009 due to several health complications which all came from her being obese. After her passing I was also diagnosed with some of the same things she had. Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. I now know that I also have Afib. From never being sick or taking any kind of medication, now I was on heart medication, blook thinner, metformin, pravastatin, and 2 different meds for HBP. I made my decision back in Sept of 2011. My surgery was Oct. 8, 2010. I almost 7mos post op, now. My starting weight was 328 and I am now weighing 261. But the most exicting part is that my Dr has taken me OFF almost of the medications. I now only take the heart medication and the blood thinner which unfortunately I will have to take for the rest of my life. But hay, taking only 2 pills a day compared to 7 is wonderful...

  4. I completely understand your frustration. I am almost 6 mos post op, I've lost 67lbs so far. The last six to seven weeks I have not been able to lose anything. I keep telling myself that its my system trying to play catch up, but I do worry sometimes that this is it.

  5. Hello everyone, I was sleeved on Oct 8, 2011. I have lost a total of 45 lbs since my pre-op diet. I was so excited seeing the scale go down 3 or 4 lbs at a time. I am now eating regular foods, but only what I can hold because I get full pretty easy. Believe me it doesn't take much to fill me up now. The problem is that for the past two weeks I have not lost any more weight. I don't know if this is normal or if I am doing something wrong. Has anyone out there had this similar issue?
  6. I've be stalled for 2 weeks already. Help!!1

    OCTOBER 2011 SLEEVE ROSTER

Yes that is what it means. lol..lol.. My birthday is actually on Oct 17, so this is kind of a gift for myself. Can't believe its only 5 days away. I am so excited. I've lost 15lbs on the pre-op diet. I can just imagine how much I will lose once I get my sleeve. Can't wait.
  8. Wow!! I am so excited and happy for you!! I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Rodriguez this Saturday the 8th. I am very excited and nervous at the same time, but I know its the right thing to do. Everyday I feel much more comfortable with my decision to go with Dr. Rodriguez. After hearing stories like yours, where all went well, it just gives me those warm fuzzies needed to relax and know that all will be fine. My son will be going with me. He refuses to let me go on my own. My husband is not to thrilled about me have the procedure period, but I do have to think about my health and my children. I have a question. When you did your pre-op diet did you do an all liquid diet or something similar to that? The diet they gave me I was able to eat food, just had to make sure I took in all the protien I could. I've lost like 15 lbs already.
  9. Hello. After much deliberation I have decided to go with the sleeve for my weight loss procedure. At my 37 years, as far as I can remember all my life I have been slightly overweight. After 4 children and various life changing experiences, somewhere along the way, slightly overweight became extremely overweight. Two years ago I lost my mother due to various complications of her also being overweight. She would always tell me to do something, even if it meant surgery. She did not want me to got through everything she went through. Two months after her passing I was put in the hospital for a week. I walked out of there with 6 different prescribtions and have added a few more since then. All complications of my obesity. At that point I realized that I was heading down that road my mother warned me about. Since then I've been researching the various surgeries and have decided to go with the gastric sleeve. I have my surgery scheduled for Oct 8, 2011, with Dr Jose Rodriguez in Juarez, MX. I am kind of nervous, but I believe everything will turn out fine. If anyone has any experience with Dr. Rodriguez, I welcome all coments. Current weight - 325lbs.

Thanks for the support. When did you have your sleeve done? How much have you lost? Did you have any major complications?

Wow that is awesome. I leave in La Porte, so we are actually neighbors. lol...lol I am so happy to hear that you had no problems. I know that all is in God's hands, and either way his will be done. I am really excited as is my family, but as the day nears the butterflies in the stomach become more active. I guess once I'm there it will all be ok. Its just the waiting that drives people crazy. I have been on my pre-op diet for a week already and I have gone down 14lbs. Yay!!! If I could I'd be doing cartwheels at this point. I really feel that once I have the surgery I will have no problem going down. My son will not let me go by myself, so he will be going with me. I told him he will get bored but he insists. I really wish this week would fly bye......

That is awesome to hear that everything went well for you. I am not nervous about going into Mexico. I go over there all the time. What makes me nervous is the surgery itself and just the thought that its finally going to happen. Did you have any complications during or after surgery? Where were you coming from? Do you have someone lined up for aftercare?
