    Pain

Thanks everyone. I knew it was most likely normal but I just enter to see if any one else felt te same. That pain isn't horrible. Just very crampy. My main concern was was the whole, feeling full but being hungry thing. Thanks again!
  3. I had my surgery yesterday and I knew there would be pain. I just wanted to know if what I am going through is normal. For the most part I feel like my stomach is crampy and tight. I can't tell if I am hungry or full. When I take a sip of water or broth I feel it going all the way down. It's an odd feeling. Anyone have some info or suggestions? Thanks.

    Out Of Surgery

Here's a slight update. I didn't sleep great because of the gas. I recently went for my x-ray and everything seems great. I am now very slowly eating some jello and broth. Every time I swallow I seem to get a crampy feeling in my stomach. Anyone else have this problem? Once I get some food down I am out of here!

    Out Of Surgery

I amazed and humbled by the great responses I have been getting from everyone. I am glad people who have recently went through this are helping me in any way possible. I also hope that anyone looking into getting banded, may get some insight from my posts. As of now I am just laying in bed dozing in and out. I feel pretty good all things considering. I have walked around multiple times and sat up in a nice chair. I used those funky green sponges for my terrible dry mouth. I have only had to use my morphine about 10 or so times. I try not to use it because my mother used it so much when she got hers done that she stayed nauseous for three days. I only use it when I need it. I tend to get some gas/pain on my left side by the port. I feel better every hour.

    My Introduction

I am out of surgery and doing well. I posted a blog in the post-op section. Thanks everyone!
  7. Hello all. My name is Joe and I have just gotten out of surgery five hours ago. You can read "My Introduction" in the introduction section if you care courious of my back story. For the most part, I feel good. Still a tiny bit nauseous from the anesthesia but I am up and walking around. I woke up in a daze with extremely friendly nurses helping me if I needed. I luckily got a room to myself. My wonderful girlfriend has been right by my side every minute. I am seriously thirsty. Only thing I can do is wet my lips with some Water. Tomorrow morning I will take an x-ray to make sure I am good to go then I can go home. I am very excited to start my journey and lose weight! If anyone has any tips for the hospital portion of this adventure, please let me know. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help. Until next time.

    My Introduction

Thanks everybody. I appreciate it. Today is the day. Took a shower. No food, no Water, no Vitamins. About to head to the hospital. Still a bit nervous but it is to be expected I guess. I think my girlfriend is more nervous that I am. Well, theres not much more to say so I guess I will write whenever I feel up to it. Thanks again for the support!
  9. Hello. My name is Joe. I am 23 years old and I am getting banded tomorrow (9-28-11). I would like to document my journey to a healthier life. My starting weight is 330 and as of now I weight 324. I have tried many different methods to lose weight but to no avail, I relapse and for the worse. I was at the gym 4-5 days a week, dieting, and staying active for almost 2 and a half years strait. It WORKED. I lost almost 60 pounds constantly working out. I then landed my dream job which now makes it tough to get to the gym like I used to. I then relapsed and within one year, I had gained all the weight back plus 20 pounds. I never took much consideration to the band until a family member got his done. He looks great now. My Dr. told me it will help me keep the weight off. That is exactly what I needed. After some research, I decided to go for it. I quickly got through the barrage of doctors and the cleared me as a "perfect candidate". I have been lucky that my weight has not had a long term effect on my body...yet. Tomorrow is my surgery and I will admit I a nervous. My main concern is the pain. I can take pain. (I have broken multiple bones in the past) I just have it in the back of my head. I know it is a bumpy road ahead, but I aim for the stars. If anyone has any suggestions or tips, please share them with me. I will be blogging a lot on my progress. My goal is to lose 100 pounds and then see how I look then go from there. Thank for anything shared! Cheers!
