  3. I bought a recliner but never slept in it. it was not comfortable to me and I would wake up after a couple of hours. I did sleep on the couch alot, and now 1 week out i can lay in the bed on my side with a pillow under my belly.
  4. No problem with hydration today, things are going down fine thank God! I've been cleared for full liquids but I'm scared to try things to upset my sleeve.

  6. I am just over a week out from surgery and it was a real struggle in the beginning to get my fluids in. I sorta feel a little dehydrated. I want to gulp soooo badly like i did before the sleeve. I was just wondering how long after surgery were you able to gulp or take a normal sized drink of something without pain? Thanks

  10. 1st post-op visit today, getting dressed

  11. plain water seems to give me bubbles, and its too hard on my new sleeve. But having it warm works, and smart water seems to be the only one i can truly tolerate. I am loving teabags as a way to make the water more dense. Good Luck!
  12. I am 4 days post op and have been taking pills since day 2, with no problems. the only problem i encounter is when i crush a pill, then i taste it all and get nausea. You should be fine but be sure to call your surgeons office and ask them.
  13. Ate about 2oz broth and a whole jello cup today!! Success is measured in small steps

    Surgery Day!

I arrived at the hospital at 9am, surgery was scheduled for 11am and they want you to be 2 hrs early. I went to the front registration desk and was given a packet to take to the waiting room. It took about 45 mins for them to finally call me to the back to start getting IV's ect. They told my friend she would be able to go back with me in about 45 mins. I was weighed and to my surprise i had lost 10lbs since pre-op drs appt (400lbs even). Once in my own "pre-op room" I was given a hospital gown, socks, and compression boots. The first person in was an RN named Adam. He rocked! He asked me questions, and was really encouraging to me, he even sang to me while putting the IV in. We did have to re-do the IV once because my veins were being tricky. But once it was in all was well. I waited around for a bit, then came the anesthesiologist. She was a small stature woman but very sweet looking. She assured me that all would be well and that they would take good care of me. She asked if i had any questions, but I didn't so she left. Then they brought my friend in the room with me. She was super annoyed. Time flies when you are in the pre-op room, and it had been 1hr and a half before they brought her back. She thought they had taken me to surgery without her being able to see me. We got to sit together for about 15 mins before the anesthesiologist returned to give me a light sedation. Then they wheeled me away. I remember blurs of people in the hall, the operating room, and the doctor but nothing that is clear to me. I was out as soon as they had me scoot onto the operating table. I woke up in the worst pain of my life. It felt as if someone had jumped on my stomach over and over again. I just remember hearing my voice ask the nurse for pain medicine, they kept telling me first i had to scoot onto the bed. I told them I could not, they must have given me something because the next thing i know I'm waking up still in recovery but not in pain. She gave me a morphine pump (Which was a gift from GOD). At one point I stopped breathing and the nurses were frantic around me. They kept asking me if I had a CPAP and I told them no. They told me i stopped breathing and it said with a smile "I know that silly", they started to laugh. I was in recovery about 2-3 hrs. They wheeled me to my private room, my friend was already there. I don't remember much after that except waiting for the light to turn green so I could push the morphine pump again lol. at about 3 in the morning I asked the nurse to get me up so that I could walk. I did a lap and felt pretty good, but getting back in bed was a struggle and i got nauseous. They tried feeding me ice chips but the cold hurt like heck and i asked for warm water. The warmness went down well and felt glorious. The rest of the night was filled with nurses in and out, they took my blood pressure and temperature about 5 billion times. I had a pretty nice room, with a 51inch television and an NCIS marathon on, SCORE! My focus was on rest and healing, hydration wasn't big since i was on an IV drip. Next up, Day 1 Post op
