Has anyone had a piece of jewelry that they were unable to remove during surgery? if so how did your surgeon treat it. I have an industrial/tragus earring that I am unable to remove and was wondering if it would be ok to leave in during the procedure,or if i would have to find a way to get it off? Thanks!!!

Hahaha, yeah guess its not something that I NEED to know, i was just curious. I'm 22days away from having surgery and all kinds of wild questions are running through my head so i thought i would just throw it out there. thanks for the reply hopefully i will find out one way or another..lol

I'm APPROAVED!!!! Recieved my letter from the insurance yesterday..now i'm just waiting for a date. Thanks for all of your support....i'm beyond excited

Dont be bummed, 77lbs in 4 months is an amazing accomplishment. Celebrate every single pound because you worked for that. Everyones story is differnt. I wish i could lose 77lbs in 4 months. Congrats!!!

You hit the nail on the head with this one! I myself am always guilty of making fat jokes about myself, but at the end of the day i am unhappy about it, and i think i've used it as a way to cope, but like you said, its not really helping me. I think we do need to take our power back, especially with ourselves. It isnt funny and i dont know where we decided it was. I'm proud of you for this post, and hopefully it will help us realize our worth. -

I can relate to the fear of being smaller, my reasons are slightly different from yours. I have identified myself with my weight for as long as i have been heavy. It has become part of why i chose to go where i go, and i have also allowed it to be the crutch for why i dont live my life to the fullest. I am afraid of what might happen if i get rid of this fat and have to face the reality of life. dont get me wrong i'm not hiding from anything but after the fat is gone there are no more excuses. But i dont live by fear...so im ready for the joy, challenges, and full life that i will be able to live.

What I'm Planning to Pack for Hospital Stay

I'm still Pre-Op but this is a list of the items I am planning to take with me to the Hospital. 1. Insurance card and I.D 2. Cell Phone/Charger/Phone Cards 3. Toothbrush/Toothpaste 4.Deodorant 5.Lotion 6.Lip-gloss (non petroleum based, its flammable and if you are on oxygen its not a good idea) 7.Brush/Comb 8.Hair Clips/ rubber band/headscarf 9.Nightgown (may be difficult with Iv's)/Loose Clothing 10.Slippers 11.Robe 12. Notebook (if you document through journaling) 13.Pillow/Neck Pillow 14.Pads/Tampons (most women get their period right after surgery) 15.Baby Wipes (to help freshen up) 16.Gas-x Thin Strips/Baby Mylecon drops (ask your doctor) 17.Sleep Mask/Earplugs 18.Oasis Dry Mouth Spray 19.Sugar free sweetener/Caffeine Free Tea Bags 20.Small Extension Cord seems like alot but it will probably fit into a regular sized back pack. Hope this helps anyone that is preop!!! -
Congratulations!! That is a great loss, you rock!!! Thanks so much for mentioning the group for 200+, I’ve seen it before but never clicked on it because I assumed it was for those of us who are 200 plus pounds only, not 200 to lose (silly me lol). Welcome, your fears for surgery are 100% valid, but i believe God gives us this feeling to do better for ourselves for a reason,and he will never put you in harms way. Just stay true to your gut (until you get rid of it..lol)

Hi REALLYROSY, thanks for the post. I have recently noticed that i have trouble walking an extended amount of time, i have back pain when washing the dishes, i can hear myself breathing louder, and these are all things that make me so sad at how far out of shape i have gotten. I am excited for surgery and i hope that i can also "go with the flow" after it is all said and done. Good luck!!

Thank you for posting this, I have been so nervous because i see all the success on t hese boards but havent really found someone that has been as heavy as i am now and lost/is losing the weight. You guys have confirmed that this is the right decision for my life and that it is 100% possible to be a success at it. Good luck on the rest of your journey!!

I feel like something in me has "Clicked" today, I am super motivated to get as healthy as possible before surgery so that it lessens my chance for complications. My doctors office doesnt require a pre op diet but i think i'm going to put myself on one. Praying for strenght and that this motivation will last

still playing the waiting game, my patient coordinator actually called me to let me know the fax to my insurance didnt go through so she had to re-submit. its kind of a bummer but I know that great things come to those who are patient, and it will all happen in due time.

Awesome! thats great, I actually called my surgeons office and they said it should be fine. They stated like you that there is minimal risk while keeping it in. Thanks again!

Preach!!!! You really inspired me with this one, i almost cried but you know i'm reading this at work and i dont want to ruin my makeup..lol.. You are my home-girl and my VSG buddy, i will support your decision either way, but i know that this is something that could help you out tremendously. I do believe you can do it on your own, we all could have done it on our own but this tool i think is a God-send that really forces us to change habits. I'm excited for surgery, i know that you will get to that point as well. It will be hard but like you said, i'm going to replace fear with faith. I swear this post is just awesome!!!!
