  1. As a self payer I have to do two weeks of a low glycimic diet b4 surgery and had to fill out a 12 page questionairre. DONE!! Booked for November 30th and can't wait/

    Day 3: teetered but trying not to beat myself up!!!

    Even though you faultered you controlled it. The old you might have eaten all the cold pizza and all the past and a box of cookies. Today is day 4! And it will be awesome!! As for websited to track food - I love livestrong.com. It is free. Lots of people in this forum seem to like myfitnesspal.com. they both have apps for smart phones to make tracking even easier.

    Sparatic Eating

    If you are losing you are prob doing a great job. Having a bit of a dessert here and there is not the end of the world. If you find that you are eating more carbs than you would like to be then add more protien at the begining of the meal. Also, to feel fuller longer I hear that protien shakes are not the way to go, Maybe try some oatmeal with protien powder in it instead of sugar???

    Total failure - no weight loss

    Well you just wrote exactly why your not doing so well. You can do it!! Pick 4-5 foods you do like and go from there. Pick a few protiens, a few veggies and try again. The great thing about the band is that it will be there to help you for the rest of your life. Maybe just go for walks to start and as you start to lose you can find a sport or something you enjoy to play. Please don't give up - you worked hard to get the band in the first place!!

    WORKING OUT

    I hate working out so I play sports. I am currently in volleyball, indoor soccer and mom&tot swimming. I also enjoy walking.
  8. I was told that if I am on my period on the surgery day to wear a pad NOT a tampon... That was it. Have a great surgery!!!

    Hello and welcome!! Tell us about yourself. WHere are you from? what company are you going through?? I am in Fort McMurray, Alberta getting banded Nov 30th by Dr. Mitchell in Vancouver through the SWLC.

    1 month, 3 weeks, and 3 days.

    Till I am banded... I paid the $1000.00 deposit, filled out all the forms and talked to my GP about getting the lap band today. She said since she knows about my constant gain, lose, gain, lose over the last 5-7 years she is supportive of me getting the lap band. That was a huge relief!! I though for sure she would tell me to try and diet again... WooHoo! Another person to add to my support circle!! I am practicing chewing lots, eating slowly, only eating if I am hungry, and eating smaller portions more often. I also am working out like crazy. In the last 4 days I have played 3.5 hours of volleyball and ran 5 km. Woot!!!! I would do more but I have a 6 month old that requires a lot of attention!!! I love him to bits!! I can't wait to be healthier and chase him around the back yard when he starts to walk. I am scared and nervous for the surgery because there will be no turning back AND what if I fail??!?!?! I don't want to fork out $17,000 to fail!!! But I have hope that controlling my portion sizes with this tool will help me lose the 70 pounds I need to to be healthy! I do eat healthy - just to much food at each sitting!! mmmmmm baked chicken boobs!!! Everything seems to be falling into place - now I have to book my flights!!!

    Think of the $300 this way... That is take out every day for a month, If you get the fill you will not buy the take out or other extra food and it will all work out in the end. YOur doctor will not be upset with you if you show up, confront the issues, and take ahold of the situation. He will commend you for jumping back on that horse!! Get that fill and work that band girly!!!! You know how to get er done!!!! you have done it before right!!!

    How did it go??? There were dates sooner than the 30th but that is what worked best with my husbands work schedule. You have to be there a business day b4 surgery so if your scheduled for monday surgery you have to be at the clinic for pre-op tests on Friday then stay in a hotel for the weekend. that is another reason why we picked the 30th. it is a wednesday!!! I find Kim really hard to get a hold of and takes forever to respond to my emails or voice messages. that is the only thing that worries me about going through with this. Am I paying $16000 for that kind of service???

    How did it go?? Did you talk to Dr. Mitchell?? Who is your consultant at SWLC?? I have kim and I am unsure about her... Fill me in girl!!! When is your date??? Mine is November 30th!!
