My date is tomorrow and am so ready. My dr. just wanted a clear liquid diet 24 hours prior, but I did it for 3 days just to prove to myself that I could do it. I am ready to have a new relationship with food. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and I will let everyone know how it turned out. Wish me luck, please.

Just approved and thursday surgery!
m1hocker replied to atlast1976's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too am going in on Thursday for surgery and am quite nervous about doing this with children. But just try and think about the end result and how much more your life will be involved with your children, doing the things we would love to do now but can't do or just don't enjoy doing because of our excess weight. It will be a life changing experience and maybe a little difficult in the beginnig, but it will all be worth it when we feel better as a mom and just feel better about ourselves. Keep the positive thoughts and you will get through this. This forum is amazing. When I am having second guesses, I just hop on the computer and get my inspirations here. You'll do great!!! Keep us posted. -
Zannie, I have been having the same feelings. I have even been under two other times for gall bladder and wisdom teeth...and did just fine. I think this is probably pretty normal, but it is hard to overcome these feelings. I went for my pre-anesthesia appointment on Friday and they really put my mind at ease. I too, am having surgery on the 15th of Feb. Good luck and keep us posted. Monica

Hi all. I have been reading on this site for several months while I was deciding on having the procedure done. I am now scheduled for surgery on February 15 with Dr. Malley in Kansas and am excited and of course nervous as well. Thanks to everyone here, it has been very encouraging and helpful. I am so excited to start this journey and get my life back. I am a mother of 3 young children; twin girls age 4 and a little boy who turns 1 this week. I am 28, 5' 11" and weigh 273 and feel like my weight is holding me back from doing so much with my children...who wants to go to the neighborhood pool when you feel like a whale, right? Well, enough for now. Just thought I would post since I'm sure I will be needing a lot of ecouragement soon and hope to do the same for others as my journey progresses. Thanks for everything this far.

Okay...time is nearing and I am really freaking out about going under for surgery. I know this is a VERY rare occurence for someone to die, but none the less, am still terrified. Did anyone else freak out more about living through the surgery versus life with the band? I have had gall bladder surgery, 2 c-sections and wisdom teeth extracted and did fine through all those, but this time I am a nervous wreck. Just want to be around for the kiddos...that is one of the main reasons I want to get my life back. Any encouragement would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement and welcomes. Hope my journey is as good as most I have heard about. I truly believe this is a great decision for myself.

getting banded in Feb?
m1hocker replied to timeforchange's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is me exactly. Since I decided to do this, I just eat and eat and eat. I feel horrible for doing it, but feel like it is one of the last chances I will get. Can't wait to finally have some control. Good luck with your journey. Mine begins in 10 days...yikes!!!:omg: -
Hi all. I am new to all this and just wanted to say hello to all the February bandsters. I too will be having my surgery this month on the 15th. The support here is great and I will continue receiving and giving as my journey progresses. Just one question. I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere, but can anyone give any suggestions on a low-cal protein shake that tastes somewhat okay. I haven't bought any yet, for fear they will be disgusting. Good luck to everyone out there who is beginning their new life this month.
