    Hello

Hi, my name is Carrie. I am from Hutto, Texas. I am scheduled to be banded a week from today in Monterrey with Dr. Zapata. I am really nervous and would love to hear from people who have been banded by Dr. Zapata. I have a lower bmi, but also have a heart condition, so my surgery is a little different. I am a nurse. I have been in the OR a million times, but never as the patient. Thanks in advance for the advice and support! Carrie

    Austin Bandsters!

I actually used Dr Zapata in Monterrey Mexico. I had a really great experience. I have only lost about 20 pounds, but will be having another fill tomorrow. That will help. The fill doctor I use is in College Station, and she was one of Dr Z's patients several years ago. She is great. Let me know if you have anymore questions. His website is ø Lap Band Mexico ø Carrie

Any Lower BMI bandsters out there post-op?

Overall, I have felt really good. I did walk alot after surgery; it helps with the gas that is in your abdomen. Actually the gas pains were the worst part. I haven't vomited yet (knock on wood). I am 18 days post op and feeling good, I am starting to incorporate real food into my soft diet, and so far, I have some restriction, but not much at this point. I can sleep in any postion now, and seem to be able to move freely without any pain at all. I do have an odd sensation near my ribs on occasion, and I believe that it is my port, but it isn't painful, and I think I am getting used to it. I lost 13 lbs really fast, but haven't lost any in the past 5 days or so, I might have even gained a few. But, that is supposed to happen , or is likely to happen, I guess. Anyway, overall I am happy about being banded.

Any Lower BMI bandsters out there post-op?

I started with a BMI of 32, and was actually banded in Mexico by Dr Zapata. The not drinking while eating is the most difficult for me, but I am slowly getting used to it. I have only been banded since the 9th. Let me know if you have questions.

    February 2007 bandsters!

DWilson, Did you use Dr Zapata? Just curious. I used him on the 9th and it was great. I am sorry about you being so sick! I would love to keep in contact with someone who used ready4achange if that is who you used. Just for support reasons.
  7. I had surgery on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. Probly should have taken at least 1 more day, but it worked out ok.
  8. I was banded by Dr Zapata on the 9th. I had a great experience! :clap2: He and his staff are very professional. The hospital is beautiful. I have nothing negative to say about ready4achange. Feel free to private message me if you have more questions.

    February 2007 bandsters!

On another note...Does anyone feel like they burp constantly. I am 13 days out of surgery, and I haven't stopped burping. I don't PB ( at least not yet). This morning I started burping the minute I got up out of bed. It is just strange. I am still on soft foods, and I am supposed to move on to the next stage soon, but I am kind of worried about that with all the gas and air I seem to have in my stomach. any ideas??

    February 2007 bandsters!

I think it all depends on who you talk to. My doctor recommended I wait 4 weeks to workouts (more than walking). I play tennis several times a week, and it is killing me to not be out there, but I am following doctor's orders. Now, being a nurse, my nursing advice would be to try it if you feel up to it and if once you get started you are hurting or don't think it is the right thing to be doing, then STOP! Follow your gut, you know your body and limitations, the doctor doesn't!!!

    Port Discomfort

I am so glad to have found this post!! I had surgery in Monterrey, Mex on the 9th. My port is uncomforable. I wouldn't say painful, but a very odd sensation almost like it is too close to my ribs when sit down for long periods of time. It also seems to move a little, and I have had the popping out feeling you talk about when I lay down. Not everytime, but occassionally. I had figured it was something normal and that it would either go away with healing, or I would get used to it. I am so happy to hear others have the same situation.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I have a quick question. I was banded on the 9th. I have very little incision pain, but my port is uncomfortable, not painful, just annoying. It almost feels like it sits against my ribs when I am sitting down. I don't really know how to explain it, it is such an odd sensation. Will it go away or will I get used to it? Ideas????

    February 2007 bandsters!

Quick question. I had my surgery on the 9th, and I am really not sore anymore, but my port seems uncomfortable. It isn't painful. I have a hard time explaining it. It just seems like it sits against my ribs, maybe? and is like an irritation. I am hoping I will get used to it, or it will go away. Any Ideas

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hi, I wanted to join up with this group. I have a low BMI as you can see with my ticker, but I also have a heart condition. That is why I choose the lap band. I was banded on the 9th by Dr Zapata in Monterrey, Mexico. I am doing great, but the broth is getting old fast!!!!!!!!! I also started getting hungry last night, and that has continued today even after a 8oz of broth. I am hoping the weight will come off at a steady rate, but we will see. Anyway, thanks for all the support in advance.

Was anyone Banded on 2/9/07 ?

For the ticker, go to www.tickerfactory.com. Follow their directions, and then copy and paste the URL they give you to your signature here in the forum. I hope that helps, if not, let me know and I will try to explain it better.

Hi, I was banded on th 9th by Dr Zapata in Monterrey, mex. I had a great experience! I am feeling much better, and I am back at work today! Still sore, but the gas pains and diarrhea seem to be gone. Thank the lord. Anyway...It is good to know that there are several of us with the same date and maybe we can all try to support each other.

    getting banded in Feb?

Hi DooneyJC and nursedeeva, I am back from Mexico. Surgery went great, actually the whole expericence was good. I did start crying at the admisions desk, but as soon as I was in pre-op, the anesthesiologist gave me something and I was totally relaxed. I was up and walking within an hour of leaving recovery. That helps tremendously with the gas pains. The x-ray contrast gave me diarrhea, on Saturday, but other than that all is well. I am actually at work today (sitting at a desk). I can't wait until I can roll over in bed and be comfortable, but other than that I don't have many complaints. Oh, the heating pad was a good investment! I am hoping that I wasn't the typical hard patient that nurses can be. I am pretty sure I was much better than when I had my son!!!! let me know how you two are doing.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Well, I am back, and actually at work today. Surgery went great on Friday. Mexico was fine. My nerves did get the best of me, I started crying at the admissions desk, but the anestheologist gave me something to relax and then it was all good!!! The Gas was the worst part, and then the diarrhea. The x-ray contrast made me have the worst diarrhea I've had in forever. Gas X really doesn't help because the gas isn't in your intestines. My advice is walking, walking, and more walking and then a heating pad. I was up and moving within about 30 minutes of getting into my room, and then on Saturday, I walked the mall. I just weighed and I am down 5 pounds since the surgery date. Yeah!! I think I can actually do this, and I am happy I went through with it. (I was considering backing out). Zannie and anyone else who is having bad nerves; feel free to PM me. As you can see in my previous posts, I was beside myself about being put under. All is good for now, thank you for your positive thoughts.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi, I just wanted to join up with the February group. I will be banded on Friday (9th) in Monterrey Mexico with Dr. Zapata. I am extremely nervous! Maybe scared is the word. I've posted elsewhere that I am a nurse and have been the OR thousands of times, but never as the patient. I so want this, but just keep getting weepy and more nervous as the time gets closer. Anyway, I am hoping for the best and will update you all as soon as I can. Thanks,
