  1. What can I expect at my first fill appointment which is scheduled for 1mo after surgery?
  2. I stressed about this same thing! I think its normal. Hang in there...this is a GOOD thing!
  3. Sending positive thoughts your way! Please hang in there....70lbs is amazing! Eating healthy and exercise is our new way of life. Keep up the good work!!! Have you tried keeping a food journal or keeping track of what types of foods are making you sick? Specific time of day you should avoid certain types of foods?

    Hiccups

Oddly enough, I have not had the hiccups since I had surgery. I find it extremely hard to burp as well.

    Banded yesterday

I too felt regret that first week. Every day will get better and by days 7-8 life will be back to normal. I refused to stay overnight in the hospital, so surgery at 11am and discharged before 6pm. I'll admit, I was in rough shape on the ride home, but worth it to be home in my own bed.
  6. Stupid question......What is 'pb and slime'? I haven't had a fill yet, and I'll admit I'm abit scared by this comment! haha

    2 days since surgery

I felt pretty crappy on days 3-4 too. Walking, heating pad on shoulder and hot showers got me through. Hang in there, the worst is almost over!

    6 days post op

I was banded 10/10. Day 1: Liquid Days 2-14: Full Liquid I didn't make it the entire time on the full liquids. I felt sick...queezy, shakes, headaches and I have 3 kiddos to keep up with. I added a small amount of cottage cheese, Protein shakes and flaked fish. It helped so much in my opinion. Today is my 2 week check up and I'm looking forward to moving things along.

  10. Doing well! I've switched myself over to a bit more 'mushy' foods. Have 2 week check up today. Overall, feeling great. The weight loss has slowed down so I'm looking forward to getting approval to start working out.

  11. Hot showers helped me 'want' to go for a walk and the walking does help get the gas moving. I didn't think the gas-x helped me at all. The others are right, it will get better in a few days!
  12. Hi there. I was also banded 10/10/11. Wishing you luck!

  13. I too was banded October 10! Wishing you luck!

  14. My husband did not want me to get banded, period. I guess I'm fortunate that he still finds me attractive and still loves the way I look. I think his problem was about how much the procedure would cost, the possibility of me not coming out of anesthesia, and the possibility I would expect him to lose weight. Fortunately for me, he started coming around once he came to the conclusion that I was making up my mind about MY body and MY health. It has absolutely nothing to do with him, but at the same time it has everything to do with being here for him and our kids. I'm 8 days pre-op and thankfully I'm the 'grocery getter' in our family. Dont let the negative nelly's of the world get you down. Sometimes you just need to vent and this is what we are all here for Stay focused and remember why you got the band. The glorious part of the band is we can eat what we want in time, however, in small amounts. Think of it as a win-win! Wishing you success!
  15. Hope your surgery went well and you are at home healing. I couldn't figure out the ticker either :)

  16. I'm 7 days post op and have lost 20lbs in the last week, in addition, to the full liquid diet 2 weeks pre op. My stomach/port do not hurt much, however, my shoulder pain has been unbearable at times. The pain meds cause constipation and I am pretty queezy most of the time and I'm wondering if it has to do with my blood sugar. Not diabetic, however, I'm sure I was well on my way! Supposed to be on a liquid diet - Protein shakes, Soup, Jello...all of which I am so sick of and I honestly dont think I was getting enough nutrition. I was light headed, queezy, and just felt like laying down. Too much air in the Protein Shakes. I'm supposed to be on this full liquid diet for another week but I've gradually started adding some foods. Flaked fish and chicken, cottage cheese, mashed sweet potatoes. Have any of you rushed things along? I'll admit I feel better with a bit more protein but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. By no means am I eating candy bars, cake or any other sweets but I still feel guilty. Normal? Your thoughts?
  17. I have 5 incisions as well but nothing near my belly button.

    4 days post op

Good morning! I am 8 days post op and back to work as of yesterday. I had one day of my port area - which is between my ribs - hurting but it has since passed. I too have not been able to burp since surgery and it is a horrible feeling. I've found gas-x chewables yesterday which I think helps. A heating pad and hot showers got me through that first week. Hang in there and keep your eye on the prize! KB

    Off to a bad start

Hang in there! I was told by the nutritionish that fatty, deep fried, junk foods cause your liver to become enlarged. Tuna and non veggies are healthy - which shows you are making better choices and taking a step closer to a healthier life style. Keep your head up, it'll start to make a difference!
  20. Hi Lisa! My surgeon has me on a 'full' liquid diet. Basically anything drinkable and nothing that needs to be chewed. Water, broth, coffee, milk, yogurt, Protein shakes, cream Soups, pureed veggies, applesauce, 100% fruit or veggie juice, SF Jello or pudding, sherbert. Also hot Cereal including Malt o Meal, Cream of wheat, Coco wheats but NOT oatmeal - too sticky. I've noticed it is very similar if not the same as Stage 2 Post Op. I bought the whey protein they have at Sams/Walmart. I bought vanilla so I could blend with yogurt, milk, berries (also adding sugar free jello powder adds flavor if you're out of berries). Good luck to you! I've been on the above for a week and a half and have lost 10lbs.
  21. I've heard of some doctors requiring 3 Protein shakes and a light meal at supper time. My surgeon put me on a 'full' liquid diet 100% fruit and veggie juices, Protein Shakes, broth, milk, yogurt, pureed veggies, cream Soups, Hot Cereal (malt o meal, cream of wheat, coco wheats - does not include oatmeal), basically anything drinkable. Good luck!! I've been on since last monday and have lost 10lbs.
  22. I am a wife of 10 years and a mother of 3 young kiddos. I've been overweight my entire life. I've been approved for surgery and am scheduled October 10th. I started the Pre-op full liquid diet as of this morning. Being 1/2 day into it, I'm having fun looking for Soup recipes and busy planning my meals for the next 2 weeks. I'm sure the feeling will pass. I'm hopeful for the first time in many, many years. I'm not in this to be drop-dead gorgeous. I'm in this to not drop dead. I would love to WANT to ride bike with the kids, or WANT to run a 5k with my friends. I'm very lucky to have a husband that says there is nothing wrong with me and doesn't understand why I want to do this to myself. I'm lucky he still finds me attractive after all of these years gaining weight with each pregnancy. I don't have his full support, and that's ok. I keep telling myself, "he'll come around". I have a few friends that have had some type of bariatric surgery. My parents are supportive. I'm happy to find this site and have the support of everyone here. And the journey begins............
