I recently had the same issue but what I thought was 7 ccs was actually only 3, apparently the lady doing my fills wasn't in the right spot when filling and wasn't measuring before or after. Needless to say she no longer works at that clinic but I lost out on 4 months of good weight loss time!! I was completely frustrated and have yet to go back for another fill I kinda lost hope in that place and now looking for a new clinic so I can get back on track. I haven't lost any more weight since then but I haven't gained either so I guess I'm ok for now.

Although everyone's body is different, it does sound like at 6mls you should be feeling some restriction. I would def. speak to the Dr. about this. The band does work, don't give up so easily, if you are not getting the answers you want from your Dr. go get a second opinion. In the mean time do your best to control your eating, this is not helping the situation any all you are doing is possibly stretching out the band. Hopefully you will start feeling restriction soon and begin losing weight.

Speaking from recent experience, you are DEFINITELY too tight. I was in the same situation and didn't want to get an unfill because of course you want to lose more weight and you keep thinking oh it will loosen up! Well being stubborn, I wound up in the ER because I was completely dehydrated and they took out ALL of the fluid I had in the band, now I've been at 0 fills for about a month, have gained 3 pounds back and just barely got an appt. for another fill today, which I have to start all over again. All because I didn't want to go back and get a little unfill. Trust me it's not worth it! Good Luck

Tummy Tuckers....i Need To Hear From You.... Please!!!
aflores replied to BayougirlMrsS's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm not a fellow tummy tucker but am very interested. I've had 3 kids, 2 Cesarean and now have to get a Hysterectomy soon, was thinking of doing the TT at the same time since the healing timeframe is about the same for the most part. I was wondering about the cost of this type of surgery? Does insurance cover any of it? -
Thank you guys, I am looking forward to the surgery but hate that I have to fight all these food issues again. I was doing really good and now I'm just worried I will go back to my old ways!! YIKES! As far as getting filled again before surgery, my Dr. suggested I just go ahead and keep the fluid out until after to ensure everything is ok for after surgery and if I need to take any type of medication that cannot be taken by I.V. they want me to be able to swallow it? IDK. I'm just scared, that's all. Again, thanks for the support.

I haven't had any problems with any forms of exercise I've tried, P90X included. All she can do is try but she will need to pace herself until she feels like she has enough strength to push herself further.

As long as she is comfortable and has been cleared already by her Dr. to exercise, the band has no limitations to what types of exercise or workout routine she can do. Anyone beginning a new routine should start off slow maybe 15-30 minutes of cardio i.e. treadmill, elliptical or walking outside, classes? Then either free weights or machine weights for 30 minutes 2-3 days a week, then progress with both from there. The key is to support her and be creative in the types of exercises and cardio so she doesn't get bored or give up. You two must encourage each other, there are going to be days when one of you won't want to go and that's where partnerships helps out!! Good Luck to both of you!

Just a little update guys, so I ended up in the Emergency Room the very next day after this post! I was completely dehydrated and found out I was also losing excessive amounts of blood (sorry for the graphics, I was on my cycle) anywho, I had to get 5 pints of blood, tons of fluids and they even had to come remove all the fluid out of my band!!! I was so upset and stressed out but I knew I had to do what was best for my health at the time. Well needless to say I'm out of the hospital now and feeling so much better with one big exception! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO FLUID IN MY BAND!!!!!! I have been struggling so hard this past week trying to watch eveything I eat and drink because anything will do down, I'm stressed because I will now have to have a Hysterectomy in March and will not be able to get a fill or exercise until 6 weeks after my surgery! I am so discouraged right now, I mean if I had the will power to do it on my own to begin with I wouldn't have had the surgery and spent all the money I did to have it!!! I need some encouragement, advice, ANYTHING! I do not want to gain one pound back, I've come so far at my 50 pound mark and don't know what to do!!!

I'm getting my first unfill tomorrow myself. I at a 7.2 in a 10cc band and it's just way too tight! My issue has been going on since Monday. That day, like you, I was totally fine water went down even had clear broth go down just fine. Then the next day woke up and was feeling extremely uncomfortable and tight couldnt drink coffee, water anything. I told myself just give it a couple of days maybe your still swollen. Well today is Thursday and I'm continuing to spit up everything I try to get down, I can't take it. I am so thirsty it's unreal!

Thanks guys, well lunch today went a little better. I had clear broth it went down fine. So I'm thinking maybe it's still a little inflamed from the fill. I typically cannot eat breakfast, too tight in the morning so I just have coffee. I have been able to eat baked potatoes just fine, had surgery back in Aug 2011. I normally do not eat potato chips but I was so hungry by dinner time yesterday I was willing to try and felt better afterward. I usually workout extremely hard and was starting to get light headed so I needed some type of food in my system since the Protein shake didn't work. Thank you both for responding, I'm so glad I'm feeling better. Still waiting on the Nurse to call me back to see what her suggestions are.

I need help! I got another fill on Monday, which brings me to a 7.3 in a 10 cc band. I felt fine after the fill, the Water went down all day no problem. For lunch that day I ate some Soup went down fine but when dinner time rolled around, I tried to drink a Protein shake and it was a no-go, got stuck and came right back up. Tuesday morning had coffee just fine, then for lunch tried to eat baked potato, no-go puked my guts out! I backed off again then for dinner tried the soup thing again and could not keep it down, but for some strange reason I was able to eat potato chips and keep them down? I usually don't eat them but by that time I was hungry. This morning was the worst, couldn't even get coffee down but water goes down fine. I'm not sure if I should give it a couple more days because it's a new fill to see if maybe there is swelling or if I'm too tight alltogether and need a slight unfill??? I have a call in to the clinic but it's 2 hours away so if any of you have any suggestions that can help, it would be great! Thanks

I remember in the beginning, I was able to eat just about anything once in my solid stage but as I got more and more fills, any type of bread, pasta, pizza, sushi, tortillas were a no go! I'm at a 6.7 cc in a 10 cc band and I think I'm at my limit. So as you get tighter, most people simply cannot get these food items to go down comfortably but I know some people without any problems, not sure how filled they are though?
