You have such a GREAT attitude that I know you will do really well with a lapband. Good for you for knowing what you want at a young age and going for it!
-
Yep, I can totally relate! Had surgery on 1/27 and in the same stage you are. It is a bit discouraging to be eating such a small amount of food but not see any weight loss right now. HOWEVER, we have to keep in mind that we are supposed to be healing right now and working on our eating habits(chewing well, not drinking with meals, lots of protein, etc) so I am trying to keep a positive attitude. But yeah, I am worried I will gain during this phase. I just don't want to see the scale go in the opposite direction, no matter how temporary

Mushies/pureed Items While Dining Out?
ValAnn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, Banded on 1/27 and have lost 25# total so far including Pre Op diet. However, that has all been under my careful control. I will be heading out of town to see my kids at college while still in Mushy/Pureed food stage. This freaks me out as I know I will be eating meals in restaurants. HELP! I'm not really sure what I should look for, attempt to eat, etc. What did you eat at restaurants, food suggestions, any ideas?? Thanks so much for your help! -
Just had surgery on 1/27 so mine are still pretty ugly! I had 5 incisions as I had a hiatial hernia repair at the same time. The scariest looking one right now is the port incision. It is larger than the others and is still causing me some pain, very tender and ugly looking. Granted, I am just out of surgery one week today so I do expect they will start looking better. However, I have 5 children so my stomach already looked like a road map with all of the stretch marks beforehand so I'm not really too concerned about scarring. My days of 2 pieces are long over I was told to use Mederma or something similar after I have healed to help with the scarring. I believe there is a thread of scar pics....if you dare.......lol!

Never Had Surgery Before...nervous!
ValAnn replied to ev1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with all that has been written! I had NEVER had surgery of any kind before so I was really nervous. I found that reading the Surgery Day stories here on the forum kind of helped me. Reading about everyone's different stories gave me an idea of what to expect. You will see that most of them are very similar and most everyone is nervous as you are right now. Also, a friend of mine gave me some good advice. She told me to just turn myself over to the professionals at the hospital. This is their job and I had to TRUST in them to know what they were doing and that everything would be fine. I did just that and things were fine, just as she had told me. You will speak with all of your team beforehand, they will ask you the same questions over and over again, and then you will get something to realllly help you relax, and the next thing you know you will be in recovery. Sounds simple but it really was that simple. Best of luck to you and keep reading on here as you will find TONS of helpful people and great info -
Started Pre-Op Liquid Diet Today.. Pretty Sure I'm Dying!
ValAnn replied to rae.holmes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You all WILL make it through this part of the journey, I promise. I was banded on 1/27 and did 2 weeks of Pre Op liquids. Just make sure you get all of your protein in as it does make you feel full and gives you energy. Is it easy? No, very hard BUT once you see the numbers on the scale going down, it makes it a little easier. Plus it is great practice for once you are banded and on liquids. Best of luck to all of you -
A Great Non-Clear-Liquid Soup...
ValAnn replied to bev712's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES!! That was my "cheat" on my liquid pre op diet Very yummy, full of protein.....might have a bowl this weekend as well! -
I had my surgery last Friday(1/27) and plan on going back to work tomorrow. I honestly thought I would feel better than I do at this point. Today is the first day that I have not been walking around my house holding my stomach as I also felt like it could drop out at any time!! I had a hernia repair at the same time so maybe that is part of the longer recovery process. I also had never had surgery of any kind and was maybe a bit too optimistic about how quickly I would be feeling better. Take your time and don't rush it.....trust me on that one.

I had surgery on Friday and boy, am I sore! Especially where the port is located! I totally understand how uncomfortable that pain can be! I also had a hernia repair at the same time. Last night I woke up every hour on the hour. I had not been taking my pain meds consistently so I'm sure that was part of the problem. Took a dose of pain meds around 5am and finally feel better. I plan on staying on schedule with pain meds today. I expect to feel lots better by tomorrow....hope so anyway.

Best of luck horsegirl! It will feel like such a relief when it's over and done with. At least that is how I felt!

I was banded yesterday I barely had any pain yesterday but today seems to be a different story. Just really bruised by my port incision. But so glad it is over and done with! I have never had any kind of surgery so I was really nervous! Looking forward to life in Bandland! Congrats to all of us!

Surgery 2/17 But I'm Scared Now
ValAnn replied to Flaquita24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery TOMORROW so I know how you feel! Trying to stay positive and not get too worked up about it. Need to keep my blood pressure normal First time surgery for me as well! -
Totally agree about TV and food! Goodness, I never noticed until on this liquid diet how true that was! I suggest DVR so you can fast forward though all of those commercials. And I went to bed early a couple of nights just because I was hungry. And was kind of being crabby to the hubby...or so he claims

Surgery Moved To This Friday!!! Freaking Out!!
ValAnn replied to littlerlou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a number to call at the hospital? Maybe someone there can give you answer. I would really not appreciate being treated this way. Especially if you have to make last minute plans for work, childcare, etc -
Still on the lovely liquid diet as well. Surgery is Friday so there is an end in sight!! Yes, I have been hungry but honestly, not as much as I thought I would be. My theory is that my taste buds have died of boredom I make my shakes with plenty of ice, a little fruit and some water and they are very much like a smoothie. Therefore, it takes me an average of 1 hour to finish. ESPECIALLY in this cold weather! BTW, I am in our Lower Level right now as my family eats chicken, baked potatoes and carrots. And yes, I cooked it. Smelled so darn yummy! I have found it is better for me to on a totally different level when it is dinner time You will make it thorugh this time and really, I am kind of glad I had to do this liquid diet. I think it will make it easier to stay on track post op....at least that is what I keep telling myself!

Surgery Moved To This Friday!!! Freaking Out!!
ValAnn replied to littlerlou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I already had a time from my Dr.'s office but the hospital called me yesterday to move me up an hour. I have been doing the liquid diet for the past 2 weeks and continue up until surgery day. I hope you have a time and instructions by now. Have you heard from the office yet? -

Surgery Moved To This Friday!!! Freaking Out!!
ValAnn replied to littlerlou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is this Friday as well, although I have know that a bit longer than you have I also have a heating pad, Gas X strips, my scripts, and the above mentioned food items. Good Luck -
So glad to know I'm not the only one! Yeah, I have surgery Friday, Feb 27 and have NEVER been under anesthesia before. Just that whole unknown....but we have come to far to go back now
-
Hi everyone, Scheduled for surgery on 1/27 and on the lovely liquid diet right now. I have lost almost 9 pounds but I am wondering if it will come back? Since this is all liquids, will I gain some or all of it back once I am no longer on all liquids? Is this all Water weight loss? Obviously I plan on following my Dr.'s instructions regarding liquids, mushies, etc after the surgery. Do most people keep off the pre op weight loss?
