Hello Gee and Panda'! Was thinking about you guys! Happy belated 8 month surgeryversary. So happy that you are both getting so close to goal. My doc says I've reached my goal (when i was at 160lbs). I'm at 150lbs now and I feel like a brand new person. My biggest non scale victory was picking out bikinis for the summer. The last time I wore a bikini I was seven years old. So, my hair is still falling out. I've read that this can be normal, but still, it frustrates me. I still drink a protein shake a day. I exercise by playing on two tennis teams a month. I always take the stairs when I am running around all day at the hospital! I love that I can walk into a social event and complete strangers stop me and tell me that I look beautiful. I love the person that I have transformed into and it shows - I am glowing - and people notice! Little do they know my lifetime struggle of what it took for me to finally be the person I am today. I am so grateful for the sleeve. I am so grateful for our unconditional support Have a great day, Ter

Panda! I see you are still doing great! Congrats! I just signed my offer letter at m new job. I will actually have consistent stable hours so I'm looking forward to exercising at least three times a week or so. My hair still falling out. I have difficulty eating steak and chicken. Still drinking a protein shake a day. I'm down another five lbs since I last posted. The loss is very slow now....... But there is only ten mor pounds to go! Have a great day! Terri

He Gee and Panda! Miss you guys. I haven't been very active on this site, but often wonder how everyone is! Things are good here. I just had my four month check up. My doc is thrilled with my progress. He was beaming and said that I looked stunning, beautiful! for the first time in a long time, I truly believed those words. I'm down a little over fifty pounds from my surgery....... And over one hundred pounds from the original bariatric surgery (lap band). I'm now 160 pounds, size 8 and couln't be happier with my results. I have noticed that around three months post op that My hair started falling out in the shower. My hair girl noticed it, too. Fortunately I had tons of hair to start off with it, so it's not noticeable...... But I notice it. I went to the Vitamin storebtoday and they recommended a couple supplements to take. One of them is Biotin. Oh well, small price to pay for great weight loss results. I am still drinking one Protein shake a day. I don't exercise at all, but once I get a new job with a descent schedule, I hope that will change. Hope to hear from everyone and. Hope all is well, Terri

Hello! Am so excited to have my sleeve surgery on Tuesday September 20, 2011. I would love to hear from anyone with a date around mine. I would also be so grateful to a mentor to help me through this. I had two previous lap band revisions due to a slip and have since decided to have the band removed. I am afraid at failing yet another surgery, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi. I never found a mentor, but did end up hooking up with new friends through a thread of 9-20-11 sleevers. We all had surgery on the same date and formed a nice support group for each other. Try posting a thread under the "dates or anniversary" category......and see who responds. In the meantime, I widh you the best of luck with your surgery. Let me know if u have any questions as I'm over a month out now and things are well! Terri -
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to say hello. I have experimented with some foods over the last week. I had a dinner lecture to go to formwork. I was able toneat a little bit of salad followed by eggplant parm. Delicious. Went down with no problems but I ate slowly. the other day I had half a pancake and was literally stuffed.. Sausage links seem to go down fairly well, but no more than two in a meal. I am so bored with the yogurts and I don't care if I never eat cream soup again. The weight loss seems so slow to me, but then again, I never exercise. I know I should be exercising, and it is something I am going to start making an effort to do. Hope all is well with everyone else.

I started at 257 and am now 185.

....I did cheat! I initially had a lap band. It slipped twice, but I did lose weight on it before the slippage.

......so genuinely happy for you!. Cheers to you for continued success!

Happy 1 month Surgiversary!!

...............WHAT! 82 pounds lost? Awesome! Did this involve a pre-op diet? I have only lost 20lbs over the past four weeks. Pre op I lost about 10 lbs for a total of 30. GeeeWhy, plz share your secret with us!

That's asesome! I'm glad it worked out for you. It makes such a difference to be able to get all the protein u need in without feeling like its disgusting!
-
.....so jealous of u guys. Saw my doc today and still have one more week of full liquids including pudding and yogurt. I have snuck refried beans in already but looking forward to egg and more!. Glad u guya found "pure protein". Really, two cans and you have all your protein in for the day!
-
Hey! Nice to hear from you. I can't comment on the solids yet as I am still on full liquid. Wow! We r three weeks out already! I lost 15 lbs and I am pleased. I thought it would come off quicker, though. I see my doc for my first post op visit on Thursday. I hope he let's me move to soft food, but I suspect he will want me on fulls for a full month cuz he wants us on the protein shakes that he sells through his office. I haven't had the heart to tell him that his powder shakes taste terrible and that I have been drinking "Pure Protein" shakes from the store. Anyways, hope everyone is doing well. GeeeWhy, you shoul google some recipes or look under the food and nutrition section. Maybe u can get a better food ideas so that you can keep things more of a variety and not get bored.....

Welcome Bobbiecz! I'm finding that everyones surgeon is different. I suspect mine wants me only on liwuids for a full month is because the liquids (aka protein shakes) can be purchased at his office. The thing is, when I was discherged from the hospital, they, too, gave me a diet to follow. I prefer the hospital diet cuz it includes cream soup, pudding, and yogurt......anyways, hope you are doing well, and nice to have you on this journey with us!

I am post op day 9 and still full liquids. I can easily drink 8 to 11 oz per 15 minute sitting. If I drink less, then I am still feeling hungry. I hear different ideas that fluid go through you and this isn't a problem. Other things I have read indicate I should only be able to hold no more than 4oz. Anyone in a similar situation.
-
Thank, u so much for the encouragement. My concern was that I could ruin the staple line or cause a leak this soon out by taking in too much liquids. I appreciate the feedback!
-
Ok.....I feel better. Thanks for sharing! I have to keep believing that once we add food, the capacity will be significantly less......

Good morning......panda, so sorry for the ice cream disaster last night. Today is a new day and hopefully will be a good one for you. I know you said that you don't have a Meijer's by you, but you probably can still order the Pure Protein shakes on line from somewhere. Honestly, they are pretty descent. As for my weight loss, please remember that I started with a band and then had it revised to the sleeve. With that being said, my so-called pre-op weight will be a little less than most. Pre-op for me was 205 lbs. Post op day #9 is 197 Total weight loss is 8 lbs Just curious what you and GeeeWhy consider a "meal" versus a "snack" versus "regular Fluid intake". Talk to ulu later!

Hi! Fortunately, no wall for me...yet. but I tokk all of this week off. I am a physician assistant and work at a hospital on my feet all day. Had I gone back to work, I would've passed out from malnoutrition and dehydration by now. Still having no probs with drinking 8oz at a time.......that's with soup or broth. When it comes to the protein, I am doing ok, too. I thought id feel less hungry, but I'm always looking forward to the next serving of soup or yogurt. I would never push the limits of more than a couple bites of yogurt per sitting. My doc has me on full liquids until week number five. I hope I will feel more full once I have pureed/soft foods. Good job on the exercising, Panda. GeeeWhy, glad today is better for you. So have any of u dared to step on the scale yet! Look forward to hearing more!

Hi everyone! Just checking in and hoping everyone is having a good day. Panda, you won't stretch your sleeve by freezing you protein powder into ice creams. Actually, on a full liquid diet, you ar allowed sugar free posilcles, cremsicles, etc.......so you are fine! Great idea by the way! GeeWhy, I was happy to see that you were not having any problems with getting more than 4oz in at a time. In was worried. Just curious, with all this fluid drinking, how much should we be taking in and at what intervals? For instance, should we have 4 to 8oz every 20 minutes? Or should we just have 2 litersof water set up and we just sip on it all day at our leisure until it's gone?
