Are You a Half-Fast Loser?
kyllfalcon commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
Those of us who are fast losers post our success for several reasons, including: * Disbelief of our own good fortune - helps to say it and write it * Sincere desire to encourage others I had no expectations that the "journey" would be so quick and easy for me. At a lower than usual BMI of 40, I expected it to actually go slower than for others. I do have a very fast metabolism, which causes shame rather than joy, because it means I had to work hard to get that big. And I did not do anything special, like work out (at all), or live on Unjury ( I can eat more than most and do!) to lose so rapidly. It just happened. We are in total disbelief of our good fortune and we just need to share it, not for praise and recognition, but to show others that it doesn't have to be an uphill battle for every one of us. So please tolerate us sharing our joy and success!! We share in yours, regardless of the pace! -
Yep, dry skin, dry hair, dry nails... I may actually perish from hangnails...

my surgeon says no snacking and only 3 meals
kyllfalcon replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't see how one is supposed to take in enough calories, nutrients and Protein with three meals a day and no snacking, given the severe restriction at first. Just doesn't make sense. I know I started off with a lower BMI than some at almost 40, but I eat all day long and have since day one, lost weight rapidly, never hit a stall, and I have yet to hit the first lick of exercise. Maybe what works for some won't for others, but I had to find my own way and eating small portions all day works very well for me. My doctors suggestions were three meals, two Snacks. But he is/was not rigid about it. -
I just wanted to stop the damn sweating and panting all the time. Mission accomplished.

I get a few but obviously not as many as you. You've been around a long time and your success is evident. I just answer as patiently as I can.

Totally awesome!!!! Congratulations!!

You can make capsules using readily available empty Gelatin capsules and healthy coconut oil. Google is your friend.

I believe the original poster asked about using weed in conjunction with being sleeved. I also believe it is no different than asking about alcohol or sex or exercise. If one is going to use weed let's encourage them to do it in the healthiest manner, just as we would advise eating and drinking in moderation. There are lots of subforums, subgroups, threads unrelated to vsg on this site, such as gay/lesbian, Christian, men's room (where I believe this thread is).

No, one can't use that type of vaporizer for vaping weed. It's a totally different appliance. Google marijunana vaporizer. Well known brands are Volcano, Silver Surfer, Da Buddha, Iolite, Pax, Da Vinci. There are dozens of others. Some require electricity, and these are your bigger in-home models. Some are battery operated, and these are your smaller portable models. All of them are expensive compared to just smoking, but it's worth the investment to save yourself from the carcinogens.

Yes, I bought it as far out as they sold it, and have no regrets. I'm just thankful that I did not need it! I considered it money well spent for peace of mind.

WHOA!! Depends on the doctor!! I take NSAIDS, presecription strength and maximum dosage, every day and have since about three weeks post op, with my doctor's blessing. And I'm almost a year out now. Ask your doctor what his thoughts are and why.

Does anyone still feels hungry?
kyllfalcon replied to sherytuta's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I still get hungry, and have since the surgery almost a year ago. Like the previous poster said, it's not a ravenous hunger (usually), but it is hunger that I did not expect based on what I had read and was told. Yes, the stomach meds do help, and I have tried them all, but I experience real hunger. However, I am really glad that I get hungry. It makes me want food, like normal people, and it helps me really enjoy food, like normal people, two things I was really worried about losing. -
Top Heavy Women.....

Wow, Granny, you've been through some tough times and you just keep on smiling!! My hero! -
Hmmm, being old ain't so bad after all! I remember when I got my hysterectomy in my early 40's that it was a huge relief to get off the hormonal roll coaster! Sorry, ladies, you both probably have a ways to go before you get off of it.

Any Kentucky Sleevers?
kyllfalcon replied to tiffy0485's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved in March 2012. Reached goal around New Years. Had no complications, never hit a stall. I went to Dr. Weiss of Bluegrass Bariatrics. -
Any Kentucky Sleevers?
kyllfalcon replied to tiffy0485's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep! From Frankfort. Who did your surgery? There is a group on this forum called "Sleeved in the Bluegrass". Unfortunately, it's not very active. -
My thoughts exactly.... don't think I would have had 20 years to worry about it without the surgery.
-
Yes, it is.

Low BMI of 38 would you do the surgery or have you done the sleeve?
kyllfalcon replied to Zen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the surgery at age 59 with a BMI of 39. As the others have said, you must know and weigh the risks versus the benefits. And don't turn a blind eye that it could be YOU falling into that small percentage of complications. Having said that, I would do it again tonight if I had to, and pay for it out of pocket. My procedure and recovery, like the majority, went without complication and I very quickly and easily reached goal. I did have lots and lots of comorbidities, not the least of which was just plain misery from carrying around all that weight. I was just confessing to one of my employees this morning that I used to pretend to have to work late just to avoid walking to the parking garage with our group. I just couldn't keep up, and sure as heck couldn't carry on a conversation while walking, and I was ashamed for them to see me like that. Now, I can outwalk all of them, and I am anywhere from 11 to 23 years older than them, and one of them is a foot taller. I took three weeks off, and I'm glad I did. I had frequent loose bowel movements that would have been very difficult to cope with in my particular work situation. That stopped about one day before I returned to work! Good luck with whatever you decide. -
Not losing after VSG any advice?
kyllfalcon replied to Rivers1612's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It would help us help both of you if you could give us more information, such as what you are eating, how many calories per day, how many carbs, Protein, etc. And more details on your exercise, if any. We're here to help, but without details, all our help will just be good wishes! -
PDXMan and gmanbat - always the voices of reason.

No, I don't think you're alone. I read where another poster felt she needed a new challenge now. I think her post was named something like "Now What?" I kinda feel the same, somewhat challenged for a new goal now, guess I need to "strive". Of course, maintaining is a goal unto itself, but it doesn't bring notice or accolades. But I am rather glad to have the attention turned from my weight loss. Yes, I am proud of my achievement and a huge advocate of VSG,and appreciate that others celebrated my success with me, but there is so much more to me than just that. I'm glad to be talking and thinking about other things again. Weight loss, food choices, being healthy are still very significant to me, but it's just become part of my daily life. I am back to focusing on my previous and new interests, and that makes me happy!
