Pre-Op And A Stall. What?
kyllfalcon replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you talking about Monday and Tuesday of THIS week? I wouldn't consider two or three days of no loss a stall at all. I'm sleeved, 8 weeks out. Some days I lose a few ounces, every now and then I lose a pound overnight but not often, and sometimes there is no loss for several days. I'll bet almost everyone experiences something similar. Seems to be just the way it works. -
Meggie, I follow you on YouTube and cried this morning when I watched your surgiversary video. What a journey - and as I commented at You Tube a while ago, your journey convinced me that I too can do this, I am not too old to turn it around! Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey, fellow Kentuckian! That's normal to feel excited and nervous at the same time. July does seem like a long time away! Use it wisely by reading all you can, mentally envisioning yourself in each stage post-op, planning and preparing for what you'll need and the changes you'll make. The time will fly by and first thing ya know it's all over.

Surgeon Doesn't Do A Leak Test...deal Breaker?
kyllfalcon replied to BKMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon does not routinely do leak tests. He has extremely low complication rates, and he is very proud of his statistics. When I presented with a low grade fever that lasted several days, he ordered a leak test plus lots of bloodwork to rule out a leak and/or infection. I had neither, the cause of the fever was not determined, but it passed in a few more days and I am doing great 8 weeks out. It would not have been a deal breaker for me, all other things considered. -
I was never a volume eater, or a binge eater. I got fat eating sweets because I love sugar, preferably sugar mixed with fat! I guess I was addicted to the sugar rush. I'm 8 weeks out now and fortunately for me, I can't stand sweet anymore! Most folks say they eat for comfort or due to boredom. I can't say that was the case with me. Just loved sugar.

What I Really Want To Know About A Tummy Tuck
kyllfalcon replied to crosswind's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am 59, and although happily married, we have slowed waaay down in the whoopee department. Nevertheless, when I reach goal, I plan to have the tummy tucked and the boobs lifted. Might do the face to some extent, will decide once I see what I'm left with. This is not to be "hot", recapture my youth, impress hubby, or anyone else. It's just for me. I just don't want to have lift body parts to wash under them, or move them out of the way when I turn over at night! We can eek out the money, but it will be a stretch and a sacrifice. I'm worth it. I hope you find that you are too. -
I'm one of the unlucky ones who still feels a good deal of hunger. I too take the acid medicine, which helps minimally. Just plain hungry. Good news is the hunger doesn't do much harm when all it takes is a quarter cup to shut it up! I just make sure the quarter cup is low fat, low carb protein.

Pre-op I already had quite a line-up of meds. Post-op, even more! I find getting all the meds in and in the right combinations to be far more of a challenge than getting enough Protein and fluids. My surgeon provided a long list of supplements with instructions to take this with that, avoid taking this within so many hours of that, and so on. Sheesh! I take doses of prescription meds plus supplements: upon wakening 2 hours later 10 a.m. 4 p.m 6 p.m. bedtime I use a 7-day organizer with 4 compartments for the doses to be taken at home. I also use a 2-compartment portable organizer for the 2 doses taken at work (10 a.m. and 4 p.m.). http://www.amazon.co...5701653&sr=8-22 http://www.amazon.co...35701589&sr=8-6 I have enough organizers to fix up 4 weeks at a time, as I despise the time-consuming detailed job. You may not need so much though.

Really?? One of the unexpected blessings from my sleeve is that I DON'T burp and fart anymore!!

So Hard Not To Compare
kyllfalcon replied to movingtowardnormal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So you are just over two months out and you are about 30 pounds down? That is a huge success! Some of those folks who lose significantly more in the beginning are likely more overweight than you. Everyone loses at a different pace. Surely your rate is better than pre-surgery? As an aside, I've been on this forum for a while now and have yet to see the first condescending remark. -
I thought it tasted horribly artificial and just way too salty. To add insult to injury (or to Unjury!), I emailed the company about the excessive sodium and got no reply. The unflavored was ok, but since the company did not bother to respond, I will not order Unjury again.

You don't say how far out you are. I had trouble sleeping well the first three or four weeks. I'm six weeks out now and am sleeping much better. I always had to get up at least once at night to pee. Sometimes now I have to get up two or three times, probably due to all the fluids. But I go right back to sleep.

One Year Out - Weight Stall
kyllfalcon replied to desert flower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe we would need more information about your eating habits. How much Protein, how many carbs, calories, Fluid intake, supplements, etc? Do you journal your intake? What does your doctor say? We'd love to help and offer suggestions, but more info is needed! Good luck on your journey. -

Taking Time Off Work?
kyllfalcon replied to Drcalhoun's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I took three weeks off. I have a desk job, was tired the first couple of days, but did fine. Even if one feels like returning to work earlier, it's very nice to take some time because adapting to the new eating/drinking/supplement regimen is a lot of work and requires focus!! -
