You're body may also do what is desribed as 'compacting'. I lost inches and the scale may not move at all, then suddenly I would show a 5 lb drop. Don't ask me why, but it went in increments like that. If I watch the scale on a daily basis, I seem to fight the same 3-5lbs EVERY day. However, exercise is imperative to your overall weight loss and regaining of your health. Good luck!

You're right Michelle. I was mistaken. I deleted that post. I do hope it was only the one Dr. My bad.. Thanks for clarifying.

Oh wow. Ginny, I wondered how she was doing. That is so very tiny. I sure hope everything goes okay. Please keep us posted. I'll certainly keep your sister and baby Joshua in my prayers.

We also have to consider the type of band you have. 2ccs in a Vanguard band is nothing, where 2ccs in the 9cm band is quite large. It's all relative. But normally, 1cc or somewhere close is the first fill amount. Eggs, on the other hand, often give lots of bandsters problem. The texture is such that they just sit in your pouch and plug up the hole. I won't eat them now without mashing them with my fork, like I did for my babies. It's just too risky. Fried works fine, but scrambled is a disaster waiting to happen for many folks. Good luck to you!

Does it seem strange to you guys that this guy has to practice in so many different places? Is he practicing in them simultaneously, or is he moving from one place to another?

This pic was taken before I got sick in 2000. Still overweight but relatively healthy. About 210lbs.

It's a well known complaint before the first fill and even sometimes, the second or third that people aren't dropping weight. Remember, the average weight loss (over a period of time) is 5-10lbs per month. This may not happen every week, consistently, but I can almost promise you by this time next year, you will have lost an average of 5-10lbs per month AS LONG as you have met the band halfway. Protein, Water and exercise. During this trying phase of being UNfilled, you may want to try tracking your foods on www.fitday.com. Sometimes carbs and fats slow us down and we're not even aware we're loading up on them. This is not something you'll want to do every single day of your life, but it is good to go there and check on your habits for a few days at a time to see if you're heading in the right direction. Sometimes, we're not getting ENOUGH calories... check it out and see! Good luck!

Well. Thank you very much for such kind words. . -
Awesome! See, that wasn't so bad and you got a little firsthand experience in the deal. Very good!

Mine wrote one sentence, something like. I'm referring Ms. So and So for weight loss surgery. lol. but I think it was more for my surgeon than the insurance company. I would think something a little more professional would be needed for them.

Welcome and congrats on a surgery date! the first day of the rest of your life! It's natural to have apprehension, but just ask yourself - do you want to continue as you are or get worse? It's definitely a big step and a drastic measure, but one I'm glad I had the opportunity to take! By the time you get there, you'll know.

Rica, Wow! This brings tears to my eyes. I am so so glad that you've gotten this news. Isn't God great!!?? Wonderful!

Way to go Becki!!! I'm so happy for you! -
I believe I printed off whatever I could find supporting the lapband and I was able to recite some statistics of safety vs gastric bypass and presented them to my pcp. I didn't really ask him for his permission, as this is my life, but I did ask for his support in regaining my health by submitting a letter summarizing my past health history and comorbidities and how weight loss surgery might be an alternative to achieve that end.

welcome nmiranda! That's lots of questions you have there. There is so much to learn. Most of these questions are readily answered in the many threads throughout this forum. Please feel free to read, read, read til your heart's content. This surgery is so much easier if you have done your research and know what to expect going in and coming out... There are many new bandster stories posted to pass this information along to new folks who are soaking up the info. In the meantime. Here is a link to Inamed's Patiet Handbook which should be perfect guide for you. http://www.inamed.com/products/obesity/us/patient/lapband/information.html#booklet

Band Erosion/Having it removed after only one year
leatha_g replied to catfanlover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This makes me very sad. I'm so sorry to hear of yet another person with this problem. This might have been a coincidence if there weren't so many. -
Your stomach? Like your port area? Sore to the touch or sore inside? What were you eating? How much? Sorry your having problems, but we might be better able to share our own experience if we have a few more specifics. Hope you're feeling better now.
