    Two More NSV's

I had a really good day today. It's not often I sincerely feel like saying that but the days are coming closer and closer together now that I can walk without pain and I don't get so fatigued and my general health is just 100% better. My two new NSV's??? Well, this morning I saw that we were gonna have high 70's today, so I decided to wear a dress and guess what!! I could put on my smallest pantyhose WITHOUT having to sit down to put them on and I DIDN'T need a tow-truck to help pull them over my hips OR pick me up off the floor. I did not suffer any over-exertion either. Used to, it was aerobic activity to put on pantyhose IF I would attempt it all. Secondly, I wore my 'real people' shoes today, with 3.5 inch heels. The shoes are the MUDD brand with a pretty wide, solid heel and a funky square toe, so no danger of really falling off or hurting myself, but when I first bought them it hurt me to try to wear them very long (I have no arch). Today, no pain. It felt SO good to wear something besides flats. I felt very professional and attractive. My boss even commented on how great I looked!

    Pain

scrambled eggs is one of the MOST troublesome foods for many people. you'd think it would be a 'mushy' soft food, but the texture actually causes lots of us to have pb episodes after the first bite.

    The importance of lapband research..

    bumping for newbies.
  4. I have heard that Rumbaut is very good to refer you to his colleagues. I'd ask him for a referral to meet with a local surgeon BEFORE my surgery. Also, Personally, my port was quite sensitive the first year. Even sitting for long periods bent at the waist could make it sore. Waist bands on pants hurt. I would be a bit leary of taking a punch too often. lol. 21 months out I hardly notice it, but I still don't think I'd want to take a hit on it. Your mileage may vary.. Good luck with your journey!

    11 days on

Yup.. so often people think it has to do with toleration. This is absolutely a misconception. The reason for liquids/mushies is to allow the band to heal in place and scar tissue to be allowed to anchor it in. Any churning and grinding of solids at this point could set the stage for slippage later on. I think I'd definitely review my post op eating instructions or at least get a verification that solids are okay this early on. Better safe than sorry...

    What's your favorite workout tune?

Funny, I'm not a Britney Spears fan, but I love it when they play 'Toxic' at Curves. It's a great work out tune. Another silly song that always makes me wanna move - "Mr. Roboto" by Styx. I'll think of more.. I'm a major music fan..

    Please tell me...

Mine were definitely healed over by 10 days out. I would say that if they are red and angry or have pus, it would be advisable to have them looked at. Are you using peroxide or anything on them?

    Fun Thread - Screen Names

LOL cute Princess.. Hmm, well Leatha is my given name and G is the first initial of my last name. lol. How simple is that? Now, for the real nick, which I use everywhere but here. Lethalwoman. This is the name I took back in '97 when I first got online and has always been my regular nick. It came from men asking me my name. When I said 'Leatha', they would say 'like lethal?", So.. when it came time to have a nick, I thought what better name. It fits, not only because of Leatha, but in attitude and demeanor as well. It's not meant in a 'deadly' Lethal sense, but more in a flirtatious/fiesty sort of way.

    Lap-Band FAQ

shouldn't you still be on liquids of some sort? and yes, this is very common. once you begin to heal, it very well could be that you don't have restriction until your first fill. there are numerous threads here asking this same question. read, read, read - there is so much information, free for the taking. good luck!

    Feeling Blue

The chemical imbalance that causes true depression would not be one that would be noticeable in regular blood workups. It would be an imbalance in the serotonin, norepinephrine or dopamine in the brain. It would take extensive/specialized testing to pin that down. More often, depression is diagnosed by physical and mental symptoms and the length of time one suffers from such. I've included some of the symptoms which are used to diagnose. ************************************************************** You feel miserable and sad. You feel exhausted a lot of the time with no energy . You feel as if even the smallest tasks are sometimes impossible. You seldom enjoy the things that you used to enjoy-you may be off sex or food or may 'comfort eat' to excess. You feel very anxious sometimes. You don't want to see people or are scared to be left alone. Social activity may feel hard or impossible. You find it difficult to think clearly. You feel like a failure and/or feel guilty a lot of the time. You feel a burden to others. You sometimes feel that life isn't worth living. You can see no future. There is a loss of hope. You feel all you've ever done is make mistakes and that's all that you ever will do. You feel irritable or angry more than usual. You feel you have no confidence. You spend a lot of time thinking about what has gone wrong, what will go wrong or what is wrong about yourself as a person. You may also feel guilty sometimes about being critical of others (or even thinking critically about them). You feel that life is unfair. You have difficulty sleeping or wake up very early in the morning and can't sleep again. You seem to dream all night long and sometimes have disturbing dreams. You feel that life has/is 'passing you by.' You may have physical aches and pains which appear to have no physical cause, such as back pain. It's this wealth of depression symptoms, and the broad scope that confuses many people as to what depression actually is. Explanations rarely cover all the symptoms, and everybody's experience is different.

Hit by a BUS! LONG POST

Glad to hear the surgery was a breeze for the doc. Believe it or not, you'll be feeling great in a few days! Surgery is an attack on your body and sometimes it's not as easy as it sounds. The recovery is quick. Keep up the hydration. Walk, walk, walk! You'll be raving in no time!

    Help!!!!

You NEED to know this information so that YOU can monitor whether you seem to be retaining your fill or not. In the event that you had leakage, you'd have nothing to compare to.

    Help!!!!

The band had completely closed up, but how was the position? How experienced is your doc or the person reading the xrays in identifying slippage? A bout with the stomach flu like that can certainly cause a slippage. I hope this is not the case with you, but it sure sounds possible. ********************************************************************* For those reading, at the first sign of stomach flu PLEASE call your doctor for anti-nausea meds, such as phenergran. The pills are very small and work wonders in keeping you from vomiting. We really should keep these on hand at all times, in the event of food poisoning, viruses, etc. Also, if it very severe, it is recommended to get an unfill for the duration so as not to damage your band placement.
  20. Hoping you've gotten good news by now! It's so hard waiting and not hearing. Praying that all is well with your sister and baby Rose. ((((Chantal))))

    update horror story

Dr Fielding is indeed a premiere band surgeon. I think you'll be in great hands! So sorry you're having to do this twice, but you'll find it's still very minor compared to problems that can occur with gastric bypass. In the end, all will work out for you! I'm really glad you got a lawyer, and I hope you contacted Inamed also. Good luck with your surgery!

    shoulder pain

It would be to your advantage to know the brand and size of your band. Glad you got a fill. I hope it's working well for you now.

    shoulder pain

Very good loss, Terri. If you're losing, why did he do a fill?? Usually the criteria is if you ARE NOT losing.. hmm.. Shoulder pain after a fill is something I'm not sure I've ever experienced or heard of, but with that aggressive a fill, who knows? I'd certainly let him know if it doesn't subside pretty quickly.
