    Crohns Disease And Lap Band

I would think due to the 'dumping' with GBP and the gastrointestinal interruption of the entire procedure it might severely exacerbate the already devestating effects of the disease. Just my opinion, but it seems like Lapband may be easier on the intestinal tract overall.
  2. Check with Surgery Center of Richardson about fills. I hear they are doing fills on folks banded elsewhere. I would much rather hear of you going there (where they actually DO banding) than some of the other opportunists who may take your money but don't necessarily know all they need to know about banding. just my 2 cents...

    Crohns Disease And Lap Band

Because Crohn's is an autoimmune disease, it is contraindicated with the band. This being said, I have systemic Lupus, which is also an autoimmune disease and I have been banded twice with no major issues due to the autoimmune disease. I think you'll find a difference in each doctor's opinions about this, so one may say no, the other may say yes. Depending on the severity of the Crohn's, it may be worth the risk to you.. or not.. No Bread?????

No bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes (no starch).. the band does tend to plug up with glutenous foods, however, I think part of this bandster rule also applies to the fact that white starches just are not 'weight loss' friendly foods. For me, they are definitely what got me in need of the band in the first place. Is it worth it to you to slow down your progress?

    Newly banded and swimming

Definitely DO NOT go until your incisions are completely healed over. Usually we're talking 10 - 14 days.

  8. Lookin great Megan!! You go girl!! Love to see that big smile on your face!
  9. i prefer flouro, but non-flouro is cheaper and if your doc is good and the port is easily accessible, it works. i just don't think the technique can be a precise doing the fill 'blind'. just my thoughts based on my own experience.
  10. Just wanted to share an awesome post from ObesityHelp.com concerning Pre-op research and understanding of what this procedure entails. I highly suggest potential and new bandsters to read this very carefully. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/surgtype-forums/LapBand/postdetail/96691.html?vc=0

    Do I have a leak?!

How long did it take you to eat all of this?
  16. It helps that it is liquid form because it flows on through the pouch. Any type of drug 'sitting' above the band could help precipitate erosion of the tissues in the area. Some such drugs are more prone to do this than others but it makes sense that anything sitting in the pouch too long could eventually cause erosions/ulcerations etc. To be sure, try to always drink PLENTY of water to wash any medications on through to the lower stomach.

    Hiatal Hernia anyone?

I had a hiatal hernia repair upon my second banding surgery. I really couldn't tell anything except it seemed to take my diaphragm a bit longer to heal than in the previous surgery without the repair.
