Things aren't going so well. I'd suggest those in the DFW area make sure you have enough gas and food supplies as I'm hearing gas shortages and food shortages just due to the evacuees coming into the area. God help us all! Has anyone heard from Paula since recently? She never has called me. I'm not sure where she's evacuating to, but this thing is headed straight for her area. She's my band daughter and I'm so scared for her and her loved ones. And GINNY PLEASE REPORT IN!! NANCY - Claraluz, Lisa Green, Marie - New Hope.... please pray for these ladies and their families..

Anyone have a slipped band and just live with it?
leatha_g replied to faithinjesus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was also told the same thing. You may be able to just 'live with it' for awhile, but eventually the slip will get worse and you may have serious symptoms which you'd rather not have to endure. Who's to say how long you can go before this might happen? Do you really want to take the risk of the more severe symptoms? Hard decision.. I know.. -
Dr. Rumbaut Inamed certified?
leatha_g replied to Mcgraw-addict's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Rumbaut is actually one of those who proctors new docs in the US when THEY are becoming certfied. He IS one of those who worked with Inamed long before US ever started training for the lapband. -
I have had it for years. For me, it's worse if I'm overtired, as said above. The worst is having to sit on an airplane and it acting up.. Yikes! Walking is one of the only things I can do for it, that and drugs. I take an antidepressant that actually helps me get into a deeper sleep than without it and I think it keeps it under control for me. I have certainly had some miserable nights and evenings, though.

Hard proteins like fish, chicken, turkey, beef. I still like variety, but if I want to lose weight, my variety has to change from burgers, pizza, ice cream to fish, chicken, eggs, beans then veggies and anything else if i still have room. I tend to live on boiled eggs, tuna, chili, chicken, crabcakes when I'm in the losing mode.. when I'm not, I'm falling back into the behaviors that got me here in the first place.

Remember, this is for life. This is not a race. Your behavior modification will come with time. It does not happen overnight. Maybe you need more fill? Maybe you need to log your intake into www.fitday.com , maybe you need a 'head' adjustment? Maybe you need to turn up the volume on your exercise, drink more water. Are you doing all these things? I ONLY lost 55 lbs in a year, others banded at the same time as me, lost 100 or more. Does that make me a failure? Nope. But my body, my willingness to do or not to do was different from theirs. It would be nice if we could reach goal in 6 months or less, but the band is not designed that way. Do the next right thing, again and again and you will get there. Then where will you go??

Ask for a gallbladder ultrasound. When I wound up having my gallbladder removed 6 weeks after my surgery. The pain it caused me, was simply the very same shoulder pain I had post-lapband. I never had the symptoms, abdominally - only shoulder and upper back. Course, if you have NO gallbladder, this would not apply to you...

You're right, whoever got your approval should have educated you on the fact that the facility they use was out of network. My insurance said to me, if there were other facilities in the area that were 'in' network, they would not even pay out of network benefits. Hope this is not the case with you..

GallBladder removal-easier than band?
leatha_g replied to JulyBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Had mine removed 6 weeks to the day after my second band surgery. Piece of cake, if it hadn't been for the umbilical hernia repair he did at the same time, I'd have never known it. I was in by noon, home by 3:30pm. Out of the bed and on my feet within an hour of recovery. The umbilical hernia.. now that's a whole nother story... -

Here's wishing for you a good report on the 8th, Alex. A slip is but a bump in the road, but still an annoying and unnerving nuisance. I hope just backing off awhile and slowly re-entering will be all you need! Leatha

I take blood thinners.. whew! good thing this isn't true... I'd be in BIG trouble.. lol

Not breathing treatments, breathing exercises, done with a spirometer - to exercise the lungs to keep from getting pneumonia. You need to do deep breathing exercises at the very least. Also, your diaphragm has been agitated, even bruised and abused, so it very common to have some chest pain for the first couple of weeks after surgery, especially upon taking deep breaths, coughing, hiccuping, burping, etc. All these will cause the diaphragm to react. This too shall pass..

Question for Experienced Bandsters?
leatha_g replied to Lisa Marie C's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat out alot too, since I travel for work. I hardly ever order a full entree anymore. Normally, I order off the appetizer menu or share with someone else. I also eat alot of chili, tortilla soup, fish or crab cakes. Chicken breast is on about every menu you can find. It really can be done.. -
I've been having to RE-sign in every time I come to the site all week. I just thought it was me..

I've been banded twice, so I started over with fills. If everything goes well, you shouldn't need many after the first year. That being said, if you are still losing, you may need a tweak now and again, because as you lose, so does the 'give' in between the band and the stomach. It's all relative, but you'll do most of your fills within the first year.

I tried it. I'm not too creative with those kinds of things so I just mixed it with water. I wasn't real impressed.

Ok let's be realistic...doesn't add up

If you want to maintain a 120 lb body, eat 1200 per day. If you want to maintain an 180 lb body, eat 1800. If you want to maintain an 80 lbs body, eat 800. Simple. WHO really wants to weigh 80lbs?
