I think I agree with Paula. Unfortunately, the people I've known of that had eroded and were rebanded eroded again, even more quickly. I just don't think I'd want to take that chance the second time around. I have a friend there in the LA area who had a laparoscopic bypass with an apparently very impressive doctor. She has lost 110lbs since December and doing very well. No complications whatsoever. She is also about 60 years old. I am so very impressed with how well she's done. If you want, I can find out her doc's name as well. Whichever way you go. I sure don't envy you the decision or having to go through a second/third surgery, but I'll sure be sending good thoughts your way!!

I ate ground beef only or very very tender roast. You'll find that most steak is just too hard to chew to mush.

How many had complication that kept them from returning to work after 2-3 wks?
leatha_g replied to samos's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like they're referring to gastric bypass. Many people wind up in ICU for weeks, maybe months after GB. Lapband is generally a much safer, quicker recovery. Many return to work after a weekend. Personally, on day 5 I felt wonderful! I waited 2 weeks because I could and because I travel, so I didn't want to start hauling luggage too soon. Everyone is different. -
Gas pain, pressure, not able to drink much
leatha_g replied to LittleBird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How does warm liquids feel afterwards? Often they're more soothing.Sounds like you are still swollen and this should resolve itself over time. But, yes, you need to keep yourself hydrated as much as you can. -
Anyone else for the bonus plate of band + hiatal hernia?
leatha_g replied to KelliW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's good to have it fixed. I doubt you'll notice the difference, but un-repaired hiatal hernias seem to correspond with slippage later on in some cases, so I'd do it first time around, just as a precaution. -
We can sit on someone if they piss us off..

Never too many dates or the phone ringing off the wall... is that REALLY a problem??

Have you spoken with your band surgeon? Who will the radiologist send his report to? For about my first year, I had intermittent port pain, especially if reaching or stretching, such as exercising OR if I wore jeans or anything with a waistband right on the port area. Just some thoughts.. I hope you get it resolved.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!:happybday2::happybday: :happybday2:

I recall having people tell me their docs said their recent sinus infections/problems had contributed to their band being much tighter all the sudden and that mucous plugs had caused them some problems as well. Nothing un-fixable, just inconvenient and curiously annoying.

:faint: I'm so not surprised that a thread that began as innocent and supportive of one person has yet again turned ugly. And just think.. she wasn't even here to be a part of it or take the blame. Imagine... The one thing I can say about Delarla. She definitely has 'broke bad' a few times, but I have never yet failed to see her come back and admit where she wrong and that she had indeed taken part in crazy-making. I think that takes a much more honest person than someone who feigns innocence even when the evidence is there to prove otherwise. One has to wonder why anyone who'd had such a bad experience with this person would even want to contribute to the originally supportive thread for her, other than to interfere with the support?? :focus:

Post nasal drip has definitely been blamed for band issues. I would mention it.

Anyone else for the bonus plate of band + hiatal hernia?
leatha_g replied to KelliW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On my second banding(after slip), I had a hiatal hernia AND an umbilical hernia repaired. I really couldn't tell anything different about the hiatal hernia but that umbilical thing HURT! -
My Theory on Pouch Dilation - Babs, Shelly, Dr. C
leatha_g replied to luckyme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lucky, I think that is a very good description of what is actually happening. The whole process of overfill, restriction etc, seems to eventually cause atrophy in the esophageal constriction and peristalsis. Absolutely. Very good explanation. -
Gorgeous!! You look MAHvelous baby girl!! I'm SO proud of you!! Congrats Vera!! Well done!! and girl, I'd kill for your thighs!!
-
Any reason they didn't reband you when they removed the other? Did they unfill it and try to let it 'right' itself?

Age 12, my mama used to call me when the dishwasher didn't show up at the place where she was a waitress. Later, she had a local coffee shop on the courthouse square, guess who got to be counter help?? Wasn't long til I spent the summer after my 9th grade year actually cooking in the local drive in where my best friend was the car hop. Bought my first 10-speed then. I too, was a DE student, I thought I was moving uptown when I got an early job at the local lumber yard, dusting shelves and sweeping floors, then went to the local tax office to draft sq footage of local homes for the tax appraisals. That and babysitting in the evenings helped me buy my first car. 1969 Ford Falcon 4 door, in 1976. Hardest $600 I've ever paid for! That's a long way away from Ross Perot and living in luxury hotels.. Funny thing is, I sometimes miss the more simple times.. often, actually...

This is terribly sad news. I loved Ryan and all that he stood for. His stories were so close to my heart and his private messages of encouragement to me will never be forgotten. God bless this wonderful man and welcome him with open arms into a much safer, painfree, worry free home where he can tell stories forever. Comfort Patty and his family and strengthen them for the days ahead and remind them, Lord that You are the ultimate comforter and healer of all such pain and suffering. Amen.. Thank you so much, Greg, for letting us know.. Hugs to you as well..
