leatha_g replied to Sandybells's topic in The Lounge
I dunnoo... I'm thinking I'd still feel better with some support underneath. We see freak accidents all the time.. bridges etc giving way.. I've seen the herds of tourist at the Grand Canyon. Not sure I'd get on it with all of them. -
May be losing my band....kinked tube maybe?
leatha_g replied to Bright's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
aww. I'm sorry Bright. I understand the disappointment and frustration. Please take care of yourself. Try not to stay in bed too long, it only adds to the depression. Try to get out, walk, get some sun, do something that lifts your spirits. Big hugs gf.. Let us know how you're doing! -

You really need to keep drinking so you don't become dehydrated. Remember some of the symptoms are headache, dizziness etc. The loose BM's will resolve themselves but you NEED the fluids. Maybe try gatorade or pedialyte etc to replenish your electrolytes. Popsicles, warm chai tea with milk, anything.. but keep hydrated!

If it's sore, my money is on esophagitis. Too swollen, try to eat solids again, agitate the already irritated esophagus til finally, it will close up on you. Please contact your doctor and remain on liquids until he tells you something different.

Just for the record, I'm not offended at all by the original post. It made perfect sense to me. And you're absolutely correct, PPL -

:deadhorse: :deadhorse: Could we please drop this thread? It is no longer productive whatsoever. I can't believe some of you would even want to post on this thread at all. :lock1: -
May be losing my band....kinked tube maybe?
leatha_g replied to Bright's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bright, Vera or Penni may be better versed in how it works, but it's my understanding that in order to see a tubing/port leak on the xrays, they would need to inject contrast instead of saline into the port itself to see if the contrast showed to be leaking out. It sounds as if they did not do this during your study? Am I correct? -
Sounds like you may need a slight unfill. You should not have mucous etc damming up in the band overnight. Have you tried WARM water with lemon to cut the mucous? It may be a good thing to try to 'flush' the pouch every evening before you go to bed with something warm in order to make sure it's clear several hours before lying down.
-
So glad you're better!! Take it easy for a few days!

Do you have ANY restriction without a fill? Are you able to eat okay without a fill? What types of foods are you eating while not filled? Do you log your intake in a program such as www.fitday.com ? This program helps you to track your Protein, carbs, fat etc. You can also log exercise here. I know how frustrating this can be. I hope you see your doctor and get some resolution! Good luck!

In the meantime, you need to be hydrated. One trick that may help the foam may be warm water with lemon. Go slow, however, if you can't get that down, you seriously need to call your doctor. Some docs will even meet you at their office to take some out. It's not good to be unable to even sip slowly. I'm sorry.. been there, done that..but this too shall pass.

HELP! REALLY FREAKED OUT - question
leatha_g replied to Malice X Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I vote call your doctor. He may need to do a barium swallow to make sure everything is where it needs to be. Better safe than sorry! -
How long did you wait to get out and about
leatha_g replied to Gummiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I went to the drugstore the day after I got home. I drove my mother 60 miles to the airport and back at one week. At 2 weeks, I took my luggage and got on an airplane to go back to work. We all heal differently and we all tolerate pain differently. My suggestion is to do as much walking as you can, increasing everyday. It really is the best healer. I hope you have a great banded experience! -
Awareness of food moving down???
leatha_g replied to mannyfromaus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
With the band, you definitely DO feel the food as it enters your pouch, as it sits there and as if moves through. As long as you're not having a problem spitting it back up or having excessive pain for long periods, this sounds perfectly normal. Your intake is much higher in the digestive tract. Pre-banding it moves through without restriction, then drops into the much larger stomach. This is no longer the case. You will feel it as it moves through the band if you have any restriction at all. -
LOL and just for shock value: it's been quoted that over our lifetime, each of us ingest a number of bugs/spiders just by having our mouths open at night when we sleep. :biggrin1: :notagree :hungry:

Yes. My original band was placed with the Pars Flacida technique - according to the operative record. It slipped one year after placement.

I think it may be what we call 'crabapples' here in Texas.

I have a gecko that lives in my house with me right now. First time I saw him, it scared me to death. But, honestly, he's harmless and they eat bugs, so I let him live. Now and again, I see him by accident, and he's really cute. I'm afraid I'm gonna squish him someday because he's so tiny he's hardly visible unless you actually see him move. As long as he stays out of MY chair, or my bed. We can co-exist, otherwise, he's out of here. Scorpions are known to be attracted to brick, stucco, concrete type structures. Now those are hideous, scary creatures. We also have something here in Texas called a vinegarone (sp?) almost like a scorpion but even scarier to me. http://www.nem5.com/photos/vinegarone.html

Dr Fred Maese does fills for MX docs. Dr Veninga used to do patients he had not banded himself. Not sure now. Dr Maese has an office in Ennis, Texas and also one on Preston/Northwest Hwy. I don't have the numbers but I'm sure you can find them online.
