See. I was hooked on the bigger stuff, like chatrooms and internet romance once, so LBT is like a halfway house to me. lol. I did good. I didn't even take my laptop to Vegas! This is quite a victory for me. I don't think I've been anywhere in the past 7 years without a computer. I didn't even get the DT's or anything. I'm FREE, I'm FREE!!

Great loss, Queen! Everyone reacts differently, but if I recall, our friend Alexandria posted a story about a PB from hell from Sushi. I'm sure she'll relate that to you if she sees this post.

Glad to hear you're happy with your fill and you made the trip safely! Good luck with your loss!

That would be fun, wouldn't it? The one's that sleep 10 rent for like $1200-1500 a week! That's pretty cheap per person, but do they rent them for shorter times?

I make chili beans in the winter, which I love. High in protein too. But, yea, I'm like you, with the colder months I have certain foods, like homemade vegetable soup, that just seem to go with the season.

Just wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts. Hoping to hear from you soon!

I do believe it is because it is considered an irritant and could possibly aid in erosion. It has definitely been proven to cause gastritis in some people.

Tricia, Thanks for clarifying. I do recall your posting this somewhere in the back of my mind. However, I must admit my total memory is definitely lacking in my advanced age . Seriously, I've had MRI's, EEG's, psychometric testing. It sucks, but I look better! lol.

Darcy, Hugs to you girlfriend, been there, done that. Being un-filled is absolutely terrifying for me. The first day they un-filled me all sort of images of cheeseburgers and fries went through my head, then I just said to myself. "Stop!" I have not spent the past year trying to lose weight only to dive right back into all the foods that brought me here head first. So, what I tried to focus on was to just try to continue eating AS IF I still had my restriction. I did pretty good at that, even lost a few additional pounds while un-filled, then, on the day before I had to have surgery (in your case, being filled again) I did take myself to my local fav hamburger joint and I ordered myself the kiddie size burger, fries etc that I had coveted on the first day of being un-filled. I enjoyed it, but it was my reward for NOT having done it in the beginning and everyday in between. Now, don't get me wrong. I eat 'wrong' all the time, but the one thing I have done is to cut out all bread products, rice and Pasta. Another thing, I know it's disappointing to gain back a few lbs. I've been dealing with 5lbs since Labor Day. But, the cool part is that we still have the band. On any given day, we can begin again. This is progress, not perfection. You'll get better, then you'll just begin again. I think that's pretty awesome! So don't beat yourself up. I think it's normal to test the waters, for all of us. You're gonna do just fine!

Hi! My name is Leatha and I AM a Lapbandtalk addict!

I would seriously ask you to consult your physicians post -op orders again. Pizza 2 weeks post-op seriously conflicts with what most docs advise. If your doc did not advise you. I would seriously consult Inamed's Patient Handbook which will definitely say no solid foods for the first 4-6 weeks. This allows your stomach to heal and the band to 'seat' itself in scar tissue which hopefully will help prevent slippage down the road. It would make sense that you aren't initially able to sleep on your tummy. You just had surgery there. It will take time to heal, but generally within the first few weeks you should be able to sleep on your side again, the full tummy may take a few weeks longer. Breathing, coughing or sneezing will stretch your diaphram which will definitely be sensitive after surgery for several weeks. All of this gets better with each passing day. Are you walking? How about a heating pad for relief? Who was your doctor again? I'm really sorry that you seem disappointed in having the band. 11 pounds in 2 weeks is very good. With the lapband, 5-10lbs a month is average. You are ABOVE average (enjoy it, this will slow down.). Were you expecting to lose like bypass patients? How long did you research before you were banded? Don't be discouraged, this is all part of the process and I promise you will feel like a new person in no time, if you just follow the rules. Take a deep breath and try to remember the reason you were banded in the first place. You'll get the hang of it, I promise. http://www.inamed.com/pdf/health/94829F_LB_Patient_Book.pdf Please check this link out for Inamed's recommendations for band care. Good luck to you!

Just make sure it fits! Otherwise, you might be flashing everyone around like I did at Lisa's!!

The reasoning behind this is that drinking will actually flush any food in your pouch on through, leaving room for MORE food. This will hamper your weight loss efforts allowing you to eat more. The band actually works the best by eating only enough (solids) to fill the pouch and then stopping. The longer you wait to 'wash' it through, the longer you feel satiated. I hope this helps!

Good luck and speedy recovery to you! Let us know how you're doing once you feel up to it!

Slight hijack! Welcome back Laserjock! LTNS. How is your wife doing?
-
Ain't she a doll? I just loved her! We'll all have to get together sometime, seriously.
-
Betty, I'll be thinking of you. You have my cell phone if you need anything at all! Have a safe surgery and smooth recovery!!
-
They should have given you a book when you had your surgery. It goes with the band. I asked my doc where mine was and he was like 'huh?'. Duh..
-
So.. can someone tell me the secret to changing/adding avatars now? There is an option to de-select the one you have, but no option to change or upload a new one? What gives?

Some insurances do, some don't. Mostly, I think it depends on how they are coded and whether it paid for your surgery or not. In my case, my doc has a deal where any care within the first 3 months after surgery is considered part of the deal, after that, we'll see. My insurance DID pay with my first band.
