  1. I have systemic Lupus as well, however, I have been very lucky and not had to deal with steroids (YET). I do have an extremely slow metabolism, however and every indiscretion I have surely shows. I certainly understand the slow or non-existent weight loss. I hope your able to get back on track soon!

    Seems my complications are over...

Wonderful news! Good for you! Maybe I'll check into unfilling mine for awhile. I can eat pretty much anything I want anyway. I'm sure my pouch is stretched by now as well.. Much success!!

    Annoying People

I think I told my boss one day, about 2 months out ' about 2 oz more than the last time you ask, why? ' ... She never asked me again. lol. But, she was asking me weekly if not daily. I understand the frustration.

    GERD and the Lap Band

Hi Nellie. Yes, GERD or acid reflux is very common amongst bandsters, especially if they've become too tight due to restriction. Often, taking out a tiny bit of fill can relieve you of having to take the medication before bed, etc. You can read many posts regarding this very common issue by doing a 'search' up above with the keywords 'gerd' 'reflux' 'acid reflux' etc. I hope you get it resolved so that you're more comfortable quickly.

    please read about my gastroparesis!!!

Bless your heart. I'm so sorry to hear of this outcome. I truly hope they find some way to help you get this resolved permanently without other complications. Thank you very much for sharing this information. I believe everyone needs to know every possibility concerning the band as well. Good luck to you.

    Women's petite sizes?

I am 5ft even, so yep, been there, do that.. quite often. My work wardrobe consists of black slacks and sweater twin sets or jackets and shells. I travel, so it makes it easy to have slacks that don't wrinkle too much. I buy from the stores that have the several styles of the same pant type. Honestly, my favorite pair came from Avenue. I also have a pair of Worthington, which I believe is JC Penney brand? I also have a pair of Innovations brand which is great quality and length is perfect. I think I may have gotten those in St Louis from a place called Famous Barr? Not sure if you have a Belk store nearby, but they also have a great Petites selection.

    What color/race do you see?

Congratulations Poodles!! I think it's great that you went ahead and took the risk. It seems to be turning out as a blessing for both you and the girls! Bravo for you!!
  8. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ErodedBandsters/ This is the link to the Yahoo Group for Eroded Bandsters. Perhaps you'll find others there who were rebanded.

    Moral Dilemma

I wonder what Mrs P would do if it were an about face and Mr P was the one with the illness??:ohwell: I think Mr P may be going to the dry cleaners, but that may be just where he belongs for deserting his wife at this stage in her life.

    Dallas debates new crack law...

Makes sense to me. If it were the front they were exposing, it would be indecent exposure, right? Well, to me, their underwear and ass-cracks are no different. And I'm an equal opportunity ass-hater. Women wearing thongs?? This, I don't need to know either.. lol.

    banding for busy traveler

I travel and often order appetizers. I also always carry protein bars or shakes I can mix with water in a pinch. It's easy to carry tuna in the pouches or find a grocery and purchase things once you get where you're going. Farther out, you learn to just order the chicken breast or the crabcakes etc. It's not as hard as one would think.

Rush Limbaugh has crossed the line

I saw it. I was APPALLED! I consider myself conservative, but this guy really should be blacklisted from any tv shows. He's scum and I can't believe we pay people to perpetuate this type of 'entertainment'.
  15. Yep, the longer you sit there, the more you stuff in, which defeats the whole purpose of the band. You could sit there all evening and eat the same amounts as pre-band.

    List of Protein rich foods/values

I have never had a problem with chicken. Others have said it's very hard for them. The band is very individual. The best thing is to just try things cautiously. I also eat alot of grilled fish, such as tilapia or mahi mahi and of course, tuna. I boil eggs alot, but I can't eat scrambled. I eat alot of Breakstones Snack size Cottage Cheese and I love it. I also eat alot of beans, such as pintos or black eyed peas and butter beans. I also eat alot of crabcakes, especially if they are on the menu at restaurants.

How much protein grams per day?

Rule of thumb is 64g of protein per day. Are you tracking your foods in www.fitday.com? This program is great to see how your protein, carbs, fats all weigh out. Good luck!

Can Anyone Help Me On This??

If you can't keep anything down - GET THEE to the DR!! You're either overfilled or swollen due to possible esophagitis. Can you keep liquids down at all?? The most important thing is to NOT become dehydrated. No weight loss is worth messing up your band or your esophagus and just in case you haven't heard; the closer you get to goal, the slower the weight loss WILL be. You're doing great, don't borrow trouble. Get a slight unfill. Please..

Dropped By to say Hi & GURD??

Any nighttime reflux needs to be investigated. I would ask for a barium swallow just for my own peace of mind. Sounds like you're doing well maintaining, but DON'T STOP NOW!! Keep up the good work!!!

pics/before during and now of Kyleigh

You look awesome Kyleigh!! Way to go girl! A whole new person!
  21. Yes. A distended pouch can definitely contribute to nighttime reflux due to the fact that it often does not empty out of the esophagus correctly, thus when one lays down, there is backwash from food, etc still left in the pouch. In essence, the structure becomes a bit like a 'bowl' sitting above the band. This does not necessarily only come from 'pouch packing', it can also happen due to being overfilled, causing the pouch to bulge above the band.
  22. Having been banded 3 yrs, I would definitely give this some consideration. The band really does put additional stress on the esophagus, especially during times of restriction. Just my opinion.. I'm sure the anatomy and functionality of my esophagus is changed..
  23. Everyone is using the pars flaccida technique nowadays. They switched some time ago - maybe 2002? 2003? And yes, your band can slip even wrapped around with this technique. Stitches come loose, bands slip up and down. It happens. Hopefully you'll escape the statistics, but I don't think you're immune. Good luck!
