  1. Here is my typical day at almost 2 months out: Egg Beaters (1/2 cup=2 servings), Colby 5-% reduced fat cheese & deli ham for Breakfast = 29 grams Protein Snack - Greek Yogurt (14g) & Laughing Cow mini light cheese wedge (3g) = 17g lunch - 1 cup Hormel Turkey Chili w/ reduced fat cheese = 26 g Afternoon snack - 1/2 banana with 2 tbs Peanut Butter = 8 g dinner - chicken thigh = 18g with some sort of veggie - usually broccoli (3g) = 21g Total for day is 101 grams - it adds up pretty quick. Chili has been one of my favorite things - it is a bit high in sodium but I try not to eat high sodium during the rest of the day and that helps. Hope this helps! K

I LOVE THE FALL TIME :)

You look great! I love the fall too - I am in New England and that means pumpkin festivals, fairs, apple picking and fun stuff like that. The air is crisp and I love being able to put on a sweater! Have a great day

    Protein Counting?

I use Livestrong.com - I really like it. It gives you a nutritional breakdown of every food you eat and also graphs on your total food for the day. You can track exercise there too.
  5. You look amazing! Congrats

    October 1st check in

I had a 2.2 lb loss this week for a total loss of 33 lbs including pre-op. Things are going pretty well. I haven't done too much exercising - just one day at the gym this week with cardio and weights so that is my priority for next week. I do feel great when I actually do something! All of my clothes are too big right now but thankfully I have a few things left over from my thinner days that are OK for now.

    6 weeks out and hungry!

I am 6 weeks out and I am definitely hungry during the day. I do get full fairly quickly but I do know that if I wait too long to eat I am going to end up eating something I'm not supposed to so I try to have mini babybel light cheese and greek yogurt handy in the mid-morning and sliced ham, etc in the afternoon. I was hoping to be someone who had to remind myself to eat too!
  12. Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue: I am 5'3" and weighed 241 pre op and 233 on day of surgery (Aug 15, 2011). My surgeon asked me before and after surgery what my goal weight is and I told her it is 140 (which is still on the high side for my height). She immediately told me that that was unrealistic and I should be happy if I end up at 190 which ticks me off because I believe I would still be considered morbidly obese at 190. I went to my endo today and she said the same thing. How discouraging! I believe I will get to my goal weight and hearing them say I won't only makes me more determined but has anyone else had the same experience? I've read enough on these boards to see that many people reach their goal weight. Are they purposefully setting low expectations so that I won't blame them if I don't get to my goal? I am down to 210.2 which I am happy with 6 weeks out but I definitely don't need the negative reinforcement to my weight loss efforts that these comments bring ... Thanks! K

    Pills

I'm 6 weeks out and I've been doing chewables and crushing my other meds until yesterday. I didn't crush my PPI - which is small - and it went down fine.

    Frustrated with Doctors

RickM - Funny you should say that because I am in Boston MA and insurance companies only started approving the sleeve very recently so most Dr's have only done a few. My doctor specializes in lap-band and also does a lot of RNYs. She said she had done quite a few vsg's as the first phase of a duodenal switch when she worked in another state. I don't know exactly how many the hospital has done (it is a major hospital and a Center for Excellence) but it can't be too many as they gave me a booklet for RNY pre & post op care & diet info. When I went back to the nutritionist for my 2 week appt. she gave me another RNY book that had been newly re-printed but they did not have sleeve books yet. At the initial orientation they do put all three options out there but it is still new.

    Frustrated with Doctors

Thank you! You are ALL an encouragement to me as is this board. Reading everyone's inspiring stories means more to me than what the doctor says because I have seen the results that people have gotten. Keep on rockin' your sleeves

    Frustrated with Doctors

Thanks for the encouragement! I know it is only their opinion but you'd think that the surgeons who do this type of surgery would be more optimistic about the possibility of success...

    Sept 24th check in

I had an alright week - I lost 2.4 lbs. That makes 30.8 total pre & post. I am hoping to get under 210 this week! I have found that my sodium has been pretty high and some days I don't get all of the required liquids in so I might be retaining Water also. I have an appointment with my endo today to see how the PCOS symptoms/bloodwork are now that I've had the surgery. I hope everyone has a great week!

    Sept 17th check in

Hi Everyone - Thankfully I broke my 2+ week stall last week and was down 2.4 lbs! I'm excited about that. I am definitely feeling good and people are starting to comment that I look different - these are people that didn't know I had surgery but are asking if I got my hair cut, etc (which I did) because they can't figure out what is different about me. Hopefully it will be totally obvious soon that I've lost weight. I am down 28.4 from my pre-op diet and 20.4 from my surgery on August 15th. Hoping to have good loss this month! K

    Stall Broken!

Finally! After 17 days my stall has broken and I am down 1.5 lbs. I know we have to be patient during stalls but..... even knowing that it is so hard! Hope everyone else has a successful week K

    September 10th check in/weigh in

Hi Everyone! I was 233 at the time of my surgery and I am currently 215 for a loss post surgery of 18 lbs. I have not lost any weight since August 29 and it is so frustrating! I am tracking my intake at livestrong.com so I guess I am at the 3 week stall which is now on its second week... I am feeling pretty well and trying to walk as much as possible. I'll be glad to add in some weights/strength training when the time comes. Have a great week everyone! K

    pressure when swallowing

I had the same problem and it lasted about a week. Sip slowly and it will pass in time. Good luck!

    scared....

The end times scenario crossed my mind too! Funny - it seems like so many of us have the same thoughts. Of course it would be hard to be overweight in an end times situation - not enough food! At least now we wouldn't need to eat much to survive.

First sleevers, how is everyone doing?

My surgery was also the 15th and I was doing well with loss until about 3 days ago when the scale stopped moving. I did start soft foods today which was awesome - I felt like a kid in a candy store - what to eat first? I had an egg for breakfast, refried beans with a small amount of salsa and light sour cream for lunch and some chicken salad for dinner. All went down well - no issues with tightness or nausea. I'm glad but also a little nervous that I don't really feel restriction. I know I didn't eat much so maybe I just ate under my sleeve? Good luck to all of you!
  24. Yeah Sara!! I just saw your post and wish I had been able to send you a reassuring note before this. I'm glad you are doing well! I know the feeling you were having - after all of the research and preparing I did for the surgery, I cried like a baby before and during when they were wheeling me in to the OR. My husband kept asking me if I wanted to back out and I almost said YES. I'm so glad that it is over and that I am fine and that you are too! Now on to the loser's bench K
