HOw long till the SMELL
Catyroses replied to Sassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. I never experienced that. At least not yet. Right now for me the smell of food is like breathing in the scent of a lovely perfume. Don't particularly want to eat it, but I do like smelling it. May that feeling stay with me always! -
Sounds yummy. My doc says black bean soup in the mushy stage is a good thing. That and lentil soup.
-
Here's my test . . . Hope it works.
-
I cannot get mine to work. I created it, but can't get it to be recognized when I try to edit my signature. It just keeps telling me that the file is invalid. *sigh* Any suggestions?

Anyone have any thoughts on when coffee can be reintroduced? I would love to have a morning cup but I've heard that caffeine should be avoided with a new sleeve. I'm three weeks out.
-
My surgeon wanted me to have the sleeve rather than the bypass specifically so that I could take nsaids or steroids in the future if necessary. I have a medical condition that requires a significant course of prednisone every now and again. He explained that nsaids and steroids are very likely to cause ulcers in the bypass pouch, but that is not the case with the sleeve. My gastroenterologist agreed.

I am also in a stall. Lost 20 lbs in the first 8 days after surgery and then it just stopped. I'm now nearly three weeks out from surgery and still haven't lost any more. I'm not eating candy or sweets or anything else bad. Just broth and jello and water and protein shakes. Hang in there, everyone says. And so I shall. But this really is unexpected, and I can't help but feel disappointed and discouraged. My mind tells me to just be patient, but my heart feels differently.
-
I'm jealous. My doctor says only water, broth and protein shakes until the 5th week!
-
Thanks, Carla. I got it set up. Now how do I add it to this site?
-
I've stalled too. Lost 20 lbs in the first 8 days and then . . . nothing. It's now day 17 and still nothing. But thanks to all of your comments on this thread and others, I know that this is common and temporary. Can't wait for the loss to resume. By the way, how do all of you get that weight loss ticker on your posts? I go to the but cannot figure out how to do it. Something about a pin number, but how do I get that?

Sleeve set for Apr 19th, anyone else?
Catyroses replied to lil.ole.me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just today I went to GNC and bought some Maximum Protein by SEI. I got the chocolate flavor. Mixed it up with about 8 oz of 1% milk and have a glass that is giving me 30 grams of protein. Quite tasty too. I can definitely do that twice a day. -
My Post-Op Plan...whew!
Catyroses replied to goodlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon is even more strict, I think. 1st week post-op was just Water, broth and diet Jello. I went to see him today (9 days after surgery) thinking that, yipee, I might be permitted some yogury or cottage cheese or creamy soups. But no. Not for me yet. At this point I may only add Protein drinks to my list. For another 3 weeks! And then, when I hit one month post-op, I am then allowed to add cottage cheese, ricotta cheese and yogurt. Nothing else. At 6 weeks I can add the following: string cheese, refried Beans, Soup (lentil, split pea, black bean, miso or egg drop, and tofu. And then, at week 7, I can add chicken turkey, fish and eggs. And all during this time, no caffeinated coffee. *sigh* On the upside, I've lost 19 pounds in 9 days!! -
Day Two of liquids - headache
Catyroses replied to sweatinitout's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I had a terrible headache for three days while I was doing my pre-op diet because . . . no caffeine. It was caffeine withdrawal. It does go away, though. -
I have to say, mushy pork rinds do not sound very good. LOL!
-
How are you doing??? I'm feeling pretty good. Can't wait to get this darn drain out - Weds, I think.

Catyroses replied to Catyroses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, D. I am having surgery locally - I live on Long Island in New York. So no plane ride for me. Just a 15 minute car ride. And I've always done well after anesthesia. So hopefully that part will go smoothly. I'm going to try to stock up on all of things I'll need for the first couple of weeks. Am making a roasted chicken tonight and will make chicken stock from it. I though I'd freeze small portions of the clear stock to use after surgery. Nothing's better than homemade, right? Maybe I'll invest in a bullet too. And I've heard rave reviews about SEI's Ultimate Protein. But that's flavored. Not sure which unflavored protein add-in to use. Good luck with your recovery!!! You sound like you are prepared and well on the way. That weigh in will no doubt be awesome! -

Thanks so much for the replies! Great advice, and I feel encouraged, comforted and supported already. And, Stacy, I never want to vacuum anyway, so that's not a problem. LOL!
