    New To Lbt

Welcome and please let us know how you are doing, everyone likes to help. Remember Lapband surgery is not a miracle in itself, we all work hard for the lbs. we have lost, we follow the rules we get from nutritionists and docs. This is going to be a new life with a new lifestyle. Everything will change - for the good. We are finally eating to live instead of living to eat. As much as I love seeing the lbs. going away, I love how much more healthy I am! You can be so successful if you remember the miracle is you! I know you can be successful and we will be here to help! Maybe you already read this post, if not do. It's a great one. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/146924-are-you-your-own-worst-enemy/page__fromsearch__1

    Completaly Confused And Lost

Whoa, you just had surgery! Let your body heal for a few weeks. Did they fill your band when you had surgery? I bet not. That's why you are not feeling fullness. At this point the only thing to do is heal, drink the Protein shakes. They are so full of good things - not fat. Remember you didn't get fat overnight, you are not going to get thin overnight either. Slow down, don't worry, enjoy the pounds ( one/two at a time)and inches that will start coming off. This is not a race, this is your new life! Keep eating as your doc suggests, chew like crazy, eat so slowly that you can't believe you're eating! Drink at least 8 glasses of Water. Have you started logging food on an online site yet. I use Myfitnesspal.com it is easy to use.

    Too Fat For The Band?

love it when they decide what YOUR doc should do!!! Do you trust your doctor? If the answer is yes, then find a new group. I know there is a group on this forum for over 50 BMI, take a look. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/130-bmi-over-50/

    Getting Discourage

I recognize you and I think you know the drill so, I am not going to ask you the same questions. Are you saying you have lost 0 (zero) since surgery? I hope not. That does sound like a fill problem. How about losing inches, any? I have been losing about 1 lb. per week, drives me crazy!!!! I walk, exercise @ Curves, drink lotssss of water - still only 1 lb. each week. I hate how slowly the weight is coming off BUT..... the inches are great so.......for me win some lose little.

Feeling As If I Have A Lot On My "plate"

we all felt the same fear & excitement, so normal!!! the food memories need to go away, they will ruin the good stuff that is coming. I don't go to any drive thrus anymore, it"s been hard but I try to bring something good for me in the car, in case I have to eat. You will get used to all of this "stuff", keep reading the post on this forum. so many good ideas and support.
  16. EXERCISE!! I've lost weight over the years but I never had an exercise plan. It really has made such a difference; physically and mentally!

    Plantar Fasciitis ?

with the loss of weight it has disappeared! I had forgotten about it. I never want that pain and numbness in my heal again!

    It's All About Restrictions!!

does your doc know how much trouble you are having? aren't they supposed to help us with this process? the point of tightening the band is to help us eat correctly, not to stop us from eating most protein foods. you are tooooo tight! this is a lifetime change, concentrate on eating right along with losing weight. If we don't do both we will have the same trouble in a few years. I want a long lasting weight loss and health. I am sorry if this sounds bitchy but, I have a hard time reading posts where the only focus is the # of lbs. lost.

    I Am Soooo Sore

    did you call the doc?
  21. I agree with Jennifer1 don't worry about weight loss yet, you need to heal! try to sip as much water as possible. the calorie intake will increase as healing happens. when you start eating again, try greek yogurt( not the fruit in it), cottage cheese, try another whey protein shake( there are so many good ones at the Vitamin Shoppe). You will also start exercising more with time and that will help weight loss too.

    Having Second Thoughts

whatever you decide to do, start living differently. start thinking of food as a tool to live. we all lived to eat and that's not what you want. I have changed so much in the last 9 months. I went to the seminar, started counting calories, carbs & fats; exercising 3/5 X each week; investigating healthy foods. It has been the most amazing time of my life. I feel 100% better, health issues have dropped to 2 items, no more reflux, no joint pain, no exhaustion, gone is the poor self image. You have to feel this is right for you, so don't hurry the process. I am happy this has worked out so well for me. But be sure it is right for you too. I look at it as a second chance on life & health. Looking better and wearing smaller clothing is a great bonus but health is my main concern! Good luck with your decision

    Traveling Rebirth!

happy, happy, happy for you!! I know how hard it was when I went to Israel two years ago. I was so worried about an clot in my legs - in the air for 11 hours!! I was so paranoid I couldn't sleep and the support stockings almost killed me (soooo tight). Looking forward to a comfortable long plane ride!
