    Beyond Discouraged

I never saw your post either, sorry. I think your docs are probably right, why are you ignoring them? You are still so young, you could have many healthy years. I am 64, I wasted soooo many years, don't do the same! Will be praying for a good solution for you. ((((((HUGS))))))

    Oh Dear!

I have only had 3 or 4 incidents of "slime", if you are careful it's nothing to worry about. Eat small bites, chew like crazy, you will be fine.

    61 And Just Beginning

I am 64, banded in Oct. I read all the percentages for expected weight loss too. I figure this is soooo much better than where I was last year at this time, I am obviously a winner. I try not to obsess about the # I want to get to, I am trying to enjoy each day. this new life is so much more than I would have thought it could be! I work in the garden, exercise (a lot!),& walk (6/7 miles now). my blood pressure is good, cholesterol is better, no more aches and pains. I am hoping to enjoy playing with the grandkids, instead of watching from afar!! Good luck to you as you start this process!
  6. I didn't eat much of anything the first weeks either. I also didn't drink all of the water, I just sipped all the time. Don't worry, just let yourself heal! I am sure you have to do some things differently with the diabetes, try to follow the ideas the doc gave you. Everyday will feel more "normal"

** Random Concerns, Questions And Ideas **

the only walking you need to worry about now is to keep the shoulder pain away! I didn't leave the house for the first week! I had a hernia repair too so I just walking in the house!
  11. I like your attitude! Seems more like a life long effort for better health. I have always sabotaged my weight loss in the past because "I broke the rules". I usually felt like "@@## it and quit, quit feeling better about myself, quit trying to take care of me & my health. I don't want to do that ever again. your post puts it in a better prospective for me. I do have bad days, I am losing at a slower rate. I wish I could exercise more but, in general I feel great and this experience has been amazing!! Thanks for such an uplifting post!!!

    GOOD FOR YOU!!!
  15. sounds like a case of the shoulda, coulda, wouldas. of course none of us would have gotten ourselves into this predicament on purpose but we always want to blame ourselves. I wonder if that is the cause of the tears? You are here now, you've had surgery, new life is on the way. don't let the old image of yourself sabotage this new life. You can do this!

    Introductions

I think the "bucket list" is a good idea. As you lose weight it can be checked off, that will be fun. Having some goals is good, I wanted to ride a bike(without embarrassment), wear a size 10, the 14's are getting very loose, go swimming and more. To tell you the truth, I really wasn't convinced that I would do all the things but, it is fun to work towards a goal! Good luck, keep reading and learn as much as you can. try to make some changes to your eating now, drink lots of water, start a reasonable exercise plan and you will start to feel sooooo good. this is a great site and you will read it all ( good bad and the ugly!).
  17. yes, I had the study and have the machine. it is a lifesaver. I still need it even though I have lost weight. I trust that the test (overnight) showed that's what I need to be healthy.

    Problem With Protein Shakes

he probably makes extra money from the company. did you already buy a bunch of them? perhaps you can tell him how horrible they taste and try a new brand. I love Jay Robb protein powder, high in protein very low in carbs, great flavors!

    Multi Vitamin

I take liquid vitamins and calcium. I get them at the Vitamin Shoppe and my coop. Be aware that the flintstones and centrum may contain artifical sugars, which are thought to cause and continue belly fat. It costs more to get the liquid vits. but I know I am getting "the real thing" with no added sugar.
  22. Wow, you are so lucky! this will change & save your life!!!

glad you are here! keep reading, it will help to get you back to the routine. it is amazing how quickly I forget what works if I don't keep in touch with people who understand what is like to lose a lot of weight!

    Newbie To The Band

My concern for you is that you are doing it for someone else!! This is definitely for you, not Mom. You deserve to be healthy - for you. Keep reading, you will start to feel better with more information. ask lots of questions, it will give you the confidence, that you can do this. We have all been obese, we have all tried lots of diets and promised ourselves we would do better. Now you will have a great tool to really get going - for YOU.
