what has your doc asked you to do? I would say the most important thing for you to do is lose as much weight as you can before surgery. It will make your recovery so much easier. I cut out coffee and carbonated beverages, starting chewing like crazy, tried to slow down my eating as much as possible Start exercising as much as possible, walking (enough speed to sweat) will really help. I joined Curves and it has been great. I love that the "beautiful bodies" are not there. It is regular people trying to better themselves. It costs less too. You have probably started your liquid diet to prep for surgery. If so, keep reading the posts of successful people. try to follow their lead. keep Protein as your #1 food, 40 to 60 grams everyday. there are so many good sites with good recipes I have used Sparkpeople.com Keep communicating as much as you can but #1 ask the doc and his nurses for answers to your questions. If you keep an open mind along with all the necessary changes, you will be very successful. I am very happy with my weight loss. I have lost 36 lbs since 7/26/11. It is fun to have a newbie aboard, congratulations on your upcoming life change! -

I started the forum entries in Sept. I have learned a lot. I want this weight loss thing to continue, little by little 'til I get to goal. you have to know that the people on this forum will give you honesty. if you ask a question, they will tell you what they think! I think that is a good thing. we are "new" people now and the shame from the fat is on the way out! Enjoy and keep losing!!! -
I have started to eat food that finally looks like food! it is going down well and I have felt full. I have not been hungry yet, not at all?
-
have you tried adding your protein powder to some of your food? my protein powder has 25 grms. with each scoop. check out the comments from people who are losing well. protein and lots of it is how they continue to lose!

I love how honest people are on this site. we do not need someone to baby us. we want someone to help make us accountable. Accountable to ourselves! my nutritionist always reminds me to start my meal with my protein. Always. try to get protein every meal. there are so many good sites with recipe ideas. You can do this. you already went through so much by having a surgery. we do not want to be quitters. We do not want to be quitters ever again. Keep communicating, soon you will be telling us how your story has changed, for the better!! -

ok, you want input. i'll let you know what my day is like. I start the morning with 1/4 cup to 1/2 c.of scrambled eggs. I add a little cheese, I like to use parmesan or low cal mozzarella. I eat it with some salsa. so nummy! I wait for 30 minutes, then starting sipping on tea (caffeine free) and water. About 2 hours later I have a small protein shake, I eat everything very slowly. chew, chew, chew. I either go outside for a walk or go to Curves to exercise. makes me feel so good to move and it has helped tone the fat from my legs and rest of body. I eat a small lunch of tuna salad on lettuce. again I wait 30 minutes to start drinking again. If I feel I have the time i like to walk the dog. by the time I go to bed I feel good and I'm tired. Another good day. I do not eat sugars, stay away from carbs as much as possible, have eliminated coffee and all carbonated beverages. I feel I have been successful so far and am not in a rush to lose all the weight immediately. I carried a lot of fat for many years. I want this to be a permanent life style change for the rest of my life! I think the thing I enjoy most about this site, is all the advice and positive stories I read. you have to make the commitment to change. we want success, it is hear for you. be sure to read a lot of the posts. it will start to make sense and you will lose weight! good luck! -

went for my 1st post op visit with my doc this am. he calmed the concerns I had, moved me to puree for a week and soft for another and on to real food . wants me to be eating food for 2 weeks by the time he sees me again. I will have my first fill in December. I am surprised how quickly this whole thing is moving! Very glad that it is! Really want to thank the group for soooo much info!!! onward and downward we go................................ -
find a place to give them away free. most cities have "stores" where people can take the clothes free. so many people have nothing and even goodwill is too expensive for them.

I know it sounds crazy to be excited about eating plain yogurt and a protein shake, but I am so happy to have something more solid. having no trouble keeping them down. happy to add the protein and calories. going for my first doc visit on Monday, have lots of questions for him! -
some help and advice for the out of shape
readytogoforit replied to BRANDON17's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I bought a walking disk by Leslie Sansone. it is called "Walk & Firm" she has a whole lot of different ones, give it a try. it is a good work out , but you can do it at home so you are in control! I bought mine online. -
I joined curves in August and love it. I was worried about the flab after weight loss. it is fun and no "sexy outfits" are there. they have a great system called cruves smart that keeps me working harder each time. I just had my surgery on 10/28 but had already lost 28 lbs before the surgery. Calorie counting and exercising really helped![quote name='Corrigan' timestamp='1319637950' post='1678396'] You can lose weight without going to a gym, it just makes it easier. I walk a couple miles in the morning, ride my bike 10-12 miles and do every day farm work and I'm losing quite well, but you have to do something. If you lose weight without any exercise, you'll lose muscle tone as well, and muscle looks much better than flab ;>).

keep doing what they told you to do. this isn't a race. we gained and kept the weight on for a long time! we want to keep the weight off for a longer time! If you are following the set diet, you are fine. do you like the protein shakes? they give you lots of protein and seem to help a bunch with weight loss. -

readytogoforit replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[my answer is no. we have to retrain ourselves to eat small amts. of food. sipping water in between meal times makes the body think it is getting food. have you started exercising ? walking is an unbelievably good way to exercise, start out on short walks and work up to miles at a time. if you have a dog they certainly make it fun to walk. I joined Curves in August, I like it cause I have made myself accountable to the group. they measure my body each month (more being accountable). It isn't a "beautiful people" gym. It's regular people of all ages trying to have a healthy body.i've found that my insurance pays part of the monthly fee if I go 12X each month. I obviously go!! try new recipes. there are online sites with recipes just for us. Sparkpeople.com is one that I just found. I can save the recipes I think sound good. try to keep in touch with this forum as much as you can. "talking" to people with the same issues helps you get through one more hour. hour by hour is how is going to work for you this time. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.... BELIEVE IT. GUYS- I DONT MEAN TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE BUT I NEED ADVICE- I WAS BANDED 2 1/2 YEARS AGO & I LOST 100 POUNDS. (I BELIEVE JUST FROM FEAR OF THE BAND) I DID THIS I THINK JUST USING WILL POWER- WAS HUNGRY MOST OF THE TIME. I WAS SLOW TO GET FILLS BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED ABOUT SLOWING MY METABOLISM DOWN BY NOT EATING MUCH. I HAVE THE LARGER OF THE TWO BANDS & I THINK I AM 7CC NOW. I HAVE GAINED BACK MOST OF MY WEIGHT & NOW CAN HARDLY TELL THAT I HAVE EVEN HAD THE LAPBAND. I GUESS MY QUESTION IS DO YOU EVER GET TO WHERE YOU CAN ONLY EAT SMALL AMOUNTS OF FOOD?
